I've been playing mmos since the days of UO (ultima online) and I'd say the ratio of male to female gamers is about even up. Maybe it's due to the "exposure" of mmos to mainstream audience. One thing I have observed is that male gamers are more aggresive when playing a competitive game. I've observed while in Ventrilo that male gamers tends to cuss out loud in vent compared to female gamers if they lose or die in the mmo they are playing.

I am also female gamer...but I am honestly tired of these kinds of topics and agree with above 2 posters. It's really great there are more of us joining the gaming scene but we do not need to constantly have a spotlight on us and treated like something special, like some sort of amazing phoenonemon. It will only divide us from the guy gamers we do not need that. Male gamer, female gamer, who cares anymore. I honestly do not believe we are any different from the male gamer. Some of us are aggressive and like PvP, other just like furnishing houses in EQ2, others like to group and socialize and others like me prefer to solo and do things on my own most of the time. I have met many different kinds of female gamers none truly fit any stereotype or mold. Let's just be gamers full stop.
