I still think were getting off topic here. I thought this was about how the OP hates console's.
no no no, the OP hates consoles that MERGE with PC MMOS. i love consoles for halo and such. but not for this, this is a joke. there is a fine line between them both.
To the OP, im sorry you feel this way. But what you should also understand is nothing, because we cannot understand you. At first you talk about not playing with kids, then you talk about community as a whole. Kids don't affect how a community acts. Its soley your decision as to how you participate in that said community and your actions. If you think that the xbox360 will change the affect of the community and add more kids as a whole to the game, then you should take action and stay away from the game. Its soley your decision. I for one do not agree with you. I see PC and consoles becoming more of a single entity eventually. I do not think kids will make a difference, as in games i usually stick with friends and nice people i meet along the way. And just to let you know were im coming from. I know of over a handful of xbox360 owners, and we play COD tournaments and Madden 08 tournaments daily. Most of these people are well over the age of 20. I also know 2 familys that both have xbox's for thier kids. They rarely play the console even with thier friends. They choose the wii or the yard outside as a better activity. And i spend alot of time with kids, as i am a father. And to be honest, ive meet alot more mature kids, then i have adults. Everytime i hit a grocery store, i get so many compliments on how my kids act. Yet im the one walking around shouting foul language and saying really, as you would call, kiddish things.
Sorry for such a long paragraph of text. And i hope you understand and get the point that its not how old you are, but how you act. And that just because your not considered a kid, does not mean you don't act like one. Therefore games, regardless of what SYSTEM they are on, will always have immature people in them. Its the nature of people and how they act. You may think alot of those same people you dispise, are kids. But in fact i bet some of them are adults. Think about that one.

... you didn't read what i said did you? or maybe you just can't understand it. that is why my friend i said there is a fine line between a child and a complete idiot. an idiot is what you just explained to me. i can deal with that. i can deal with someone the age of 20 who is a complete and total moron, but atleast i can hold an adult conversation with them. Funcom mergeing with xbox and giveing them the ability to do this will alow almost be 10 times more the amount of children, not idiots to play this game. hopefully you understood this a little better.
i do not seek to play with a child that has to stop building our keep because their mother decided to pull the plug.

Ahh ok! I understand now. Well I to would perfer the PC version of an MMO over a console version anyday. I think the main reason however to make an MMO for a console is that alot of the games out there are getting to demanding on the requirments to run them on a comp for most casual gamer's.
As for merging PC and console server's Im not sure ware i stand. It can be a good thing because console populations may be running a bit low while pc server's are crowded (vise versa). It could also be bad due to the fact that player A who is on the PC may have an advantage over player B who is on the console. Im really not sure. We will just have to wait for it to come out.

i suppose so. ya know i guess i never really thought about that O.o . if there really is that much of an advantage on the pc, then why in gods name would you buy it for a console? o.o
Yes i read what you typed. You my friend did not understand what i typed. So let me ask you this. Before i told you my age, how old did you think i was? And how could you tell? That is the point, you will never know. As i stated, kids can act more mature than your average adult, and you could never tell. Them making a game for a console will not change that. Now i must ask, since you are so into this arguement, a guesstimate on your age? I would say around 17. What you do not understand, and im not trying to change your veiw on is age is just that, a number. Its how you act. And since youve changed your mind twice over in this thread, im just going to stop there. If you do not want to play AoC then fine. I hope there is something else out there, but i just dont want you thinking a kid will not play that very exact game. And this is regardless of the system its developed for. Thier is no line between a mmorpg on a console or PC other than the code its developed with. And microsoft owns both the PC and xbox360, so you will see the same type of people on both systems. I think what you want is a adult only game, which there will never be, because anyone can essentially play any game. Now do you get it?

yes i completely understand that yo uare reiterating the point that an age is just a number that anyone can act mature. My point wasn't that a child can not act mature, my point for me saying its a "mature" game was in hopes that kids would not play.
My point was not that kids can't be mature. my point is i don't want to have to stop what i'm doing because this kid has to go to bed for school. that is what my statement is about. which is why this is a bad idea for them to merge console and pc.
and microsoft doesn't own the pc, they own their OS. so YES, i understand what you are saying, age is just a number and im not saying that some kids can hold a decent conversation, it's when it's "bedtime" or "Schooltime" is what kills me. That economy will fall. hence why wow is getting more and more reshapened. and not in a good way. now do you see what im saying, it's not the PERSON ON HOW THEY ACT, it's what they do in real life. learn that.

I think you are wrong about this. There's no way 10x the children would play. Yes the people playing may get a little younger, but it's not going to be as bad as you make it seem. And there's always ways to work around it. Like a said before join a 18+ guild and you will never have to talk to a child on some form of voice chat ever.
actually i don't have kids thankgod lol.i don't think i would be able to handle them. lol let alone trying to put the toilet seat down for the girlfriend .
lol i'm just saying i don't want this game to crash. this has to be out right the best mmo about to be released. for me anyways. it has everything i could want, i just do not want the community to mess this up, and i am so affraid of this. just because the game is going to be that good!
and you can tell me that "Well we dont know it hasn't been released" but come on peeps.... mounted combat? insane pvp? original classes? not something in an everday type of thing? lol honestly.
Ok, i understand what you mean. But what does this have to do with what you orginally stated? You went from saying you wont play this game if its on the xbox, to talking about the community, to saying you dont want to deal with kids having to get off the game early. And your comparison is to WoW, which is not on the console. You have almost went full circle on what you orginally stated. The xbox wont affect what time people, or kids will log off. If you do not want to play with people, or kids who will simply have to log off mid raid, or group then find a group of people who play on your time. How does this relate to the xbox360? Half my friends play the xbox360 till about the same time i log off eq2, around 6am. I think its more of who you want to spend your game time with. If your set out to play with gamer's (this would be a more correct term instead of kid's or adults because this is what we really are) that play at a certain time and won't mess up your grouping in game, then set out to find those type people. Im sure there will be plenty of gamers who will be playing this at all times of the night.
You might have to go to a few servers and check out what guilds have what members you want playing at what times. Or find a group of friends willing to play with you at a certain time. But i do not see how it being on a concole will affect who you spend your time with in game, and how you spend your time. You will always have people who have to log, regardless of being a kid, school or whatver other million reasons out there. This is not an issue of being a kid, but more an issue of what people spend thier life doing. If little things like this effect what game your going to play, then im sad to say once again maybe games are not for you. And your correct, microsoft doesn't own the PC. But most PC's do have windows installed on them, which is what is was implying.
thankfully i am not 17 either. I completely understand. but everything has a chain effect and thats why it has jumped around topics. xbox>> community>>> etc. xbox = more of a younger crowd = community turning to crap = upset players= crash of game. sort of the chain i was looking at . Honestly i don't want to have to look up at the clock and it read "3:00 pm central" and then i have to run and duck for the hills because school is out.
i don't want to end up working a late shift and then hopping on and trying to find a group to play with, when i can't because everyone is in bed. see what i'm saying man? i don't want that.
here is a PERFECT example. i have a holy paladin right now here on world of warcraft. i am in queue for three different instances. it's 10:05 central time. no groups available.

i had to re read this. i understand what you are saying, the only thing that is faulty in this whole paragraph is you are missing the point where, ok YES people will have to log, yes people will have to get off for work. the pint was that there will be a much younger crowd playing if this moves to xbox.
wow i can't even type right with this anymore. im just going to stick to thinking that the pc will have its advantage over the console and this won't make me upset.
But what does that have to do with the xbox? I understand you thinking more kids play xbox360. But from my experiance, almost none of the kids im around play it. And if they do, its not a rpg, or even something online. It moreso just something simple that they can play with quickly. Because kids often have short attention spans. As stated most of the people i know playing late nights are my adult friends. And about not finding a group late night, that will always be a problem. Its not something the xbox360 has anything to do with. Its more of people just wanting to get some sleep. ALot of people have lifes outside of gaming and therefore have to get up to work. Even i, at 26 have a job and school (although i rarely work). Im a night owl for the most part and am part of late night crew type guilds. I see the xbox as bringing in more of those type people. People who get bored with playing halo or gears of war, and want to relax and play something late night. If anything you might find more people. Its up to you to choose which of those you want to play with.
If you think it will bring in a more younger audience, then thats your opinon. It might, but i doubt that will change anything substantialy on how the game plays or is affected. If the game is everything it promises, then a console wont change that, only the game and those who play it. As noted, its you who choose what, when, and who gets your time. Not a console. And if your sticking to what you originally posted, then what does WoW have to do with this thread. Its not even console related?
I agree, and thus why i answered your post. Not to change your mind, only to try and understand your point. You seem like a guy who just wants to play a GREAT game. We are all here for that, and hope AoC or whatever else game can bring that. Console or not, give it a try when it comes out. You might be pleased.

well i know i will be pleased when i make up my mind i stick to it. lol ontop of that this game brings something to the table none other has. and i won't be able to find this in any other game, so there for. ya know? lol besides that made me think, that would be a pain to type with a controller? or have a controller, AND keyboard? yeah, that would suck.
When this was first announced a few years ago a number of people on the AoC forums had a lively discussion about this topic. I was one of the folk who had a problem with it, and I lost a lot of interest because of this as well as the delays in release. My concerns were with the awkwardness of some games that seek to be console friendly, including FF XI and Oblivion. Others were concerned that there would be a combat advantage of one or the other platform.
I will try the open beta, but I am less enthusiastic.
Do you own an xbox 360? Do you understand a lot of parents in the US will not purchase this game for there kids? Do you know the 360 has parental controls that are usually turned on by parents?
We do not know how the servers will even work. Xbox 360 only, 360/PC both, speach through the headset allowed?, text only chat?, etc, etc. Its just to early to worry about it at this point. Get the PC version and play that on a PC server. Can almost gurantee that server will stay PC only. Thats what I plan to do. But when they drop the 360 version I will most likely switch to play with other friends.
Sixty-nine percent of American heads of households play computer and video games.
Who Purchases Computer and Video Games?
Ninety-three percent of people who make the actual purchase of computer games and 83% of people who make the actual purchase of video games are 18 years of age or older. The average age of the game buyer is 40 years old.
For Computer Gamers...
Thirty percent of most frequent game players are under eighteen years old.
Twenty-six percent of most frequent game players are between 18 and 35 years old.
Forty-four percent of most frequent game players are over 35 years old.
For Console Gamers...
Forty percent of most frequent game players are under eighteen years old.
Thirty-five percent of most frequent game players are between 18 and 35 years old.
Twenty-five percent of most frequent game players are over 35 years old.
So by look at that I can notice something. Not much of a difference in age on either platform. According to things I have read the average age of an Xbox 360 user is in that same range. I think you are making a bigger deal out of this then needed. I hardly ever have a problem with kids online. Especially in the mature games.

and you kno what i say now, go ahead, put it on xbox i'll be kicking the xboxers bodies, off my sword with the "insert key here" .

I understand your concern but remember one thing - the game is being developed for the PC first and will not appear on the Xbox for sometime. SO my guess is they will almost do two different versions and not like FFXII that uses a console interface for its pc game. I agree that games can be akward when its released on both platforms. My faith is that Funcom understand this too and will make two distinct UI's. I think the fact that there will be a (perceived) huge gap between the PC and Xbox releases, makes this a greater possibility.
i dont think anyone actually thought about this... but you can plug in a mouse and keyboard via the 360, i was just looking at the port hubs o.o ....................( USB )

You can plug in a mouse and/or keyboard to most of the new Generation consoles (if not all). However, most games are not made for those kind of controls. If FunCom indeed develops AoC for the XBox, my guess is they will alter the interface accordingly.
I am not 100% sure however. It could be just as well that FC actually may be the first to say that you need a mouse and Keyboard to play this game, even on a console, though that would probably lower their sales on the console.
At this point though, all is just theory. the Console version will be released quite a while after the PC version (if at all), so I have to agree with the posters above me, saying that you should not get too upset about it. Cheer up. ^_^

Honestly i don't want to have to look up at the clock and it read "3:00 pm central" and then i have to run and duck for the hills because school is out.
i don't want to end up working a late shift and then hopping on and trying to find a group to play with, when i can't because everyone is in bed. see what i'm saying man? i don't want that.

here is a PERFECT example. i have a holy paladin right now here on world of warcraft. i am in queue for three different instances. it's 10:05 central time. no groups available.

i had to re read this. i understand what you are saying, the only thing that is faulty in this whole paragraph is you are missing the point where, ok YES people will have to log, yes people will have to get off for work. the pint was that there will be a much younger crowd playing if this moves to xbox.
wow i can't even type right with this anymore. im just going to stick to thinking that the pc will have its advantage over the console and this won't make me upset.
if it gets worse then i will just go play EvE.

Its not even console related?
i just do not want this game to fall out. if yo uand i both agree on that, then that is all i need.

I think the fact that there will be a (perceived) huge gap between the PC and Xbox releases, makes this a greater possibility.
this is what i'm hopeing.

i dont think anyone actually thought about this... but you can plug in a mouse and keyboard via the 360, i was just looking at the port hubs o.o ....................( USB )
www.roxstudiodesigns.com
I am not 100% sure however. It could be just as well that FC actually may be the first to say that you need a mouse and Keyboard to play this game, even on a console, though that would probably lower their sales on the console.
At this point though, all is just theory. the Console version will be released quite a while after the PC version (if at all), so I have to agree with the posters above me, saying that you should not get too upset about it. Cheer up. ^_^
