completely not true. BitTorrent all depends on how many seeds you have and how many peers. for WOW, it'll be one seed, but I can't estimate the peers because it's not during a large push where tons of people are downloading. I've gotten speeds on BitTorrent that are excessively large. I can download 1.5 gig things in matters of one to two hours. Because you're downloading off of a website and a bunch of people who are simultaneously downloading, it can only be larger than the website alone.
Because cable internet is new to my town, only I with a collection of about anther 100 ppl have access to its bandwidth, giving me a near T3 connection. But I to have incured a slower than average speed on bit torrent. Hopefully most of the ppl from the last push have DL their apps and patches so that It won't take too long, but I would wait for it up to the last day befor the open if need be. TY for the info though Agent, I had no idea thats how it worked, I never really looked into it.

Anyways, due to the immense demand for cable here, our bandwith is capped not only how much you can download at one time, but also how much you can download monthly (i've never hit either though). The worst thing Cox does occasionally is they had rolling blackouts a while ago, during which many people I know had blackouts at the same time daily, which can only mean that they had too many customers for their servers... *bleh* oh well, it's fixed now, so it's better. Just make sure you use your limitless bandwith to its full extent while you can.

2. The beta contest ONLY mentioned that signing on daily would HELP your chances of winning. It said nothing that you HAD to sign on daily to win.

Nah, its a whole lot more rightuous(sp?) to call them dummy accounts and get on with it. And whats the hell with !3! accounts?! 3! Ive seen this and some other sites give away as many as 1000 accounts at once. Blizzard should give just a t-t-taad more ya think? Mabey 100 per major fansite(IGN, Warcry, Stratics, mmorpg.com, etc).

Ok of the 3 accounts Zafar is only the dummy one. This is a guy who has no posts so he obviously joined recently. The other 2 are completly legit so all i say is congrats to the winners (except zafar who should burn for making dummy accounts) -Slauter

The point of the whole competition was to lure many new members here. If it was not like that, MMORPG could have done the same thing like worldofwar.net. Simply reserve 2 for members who registered before 01. July, and another one for all members, regardless when registered.

No one frikkin cares about post history, other than the fact it at least shows site activity. They need to give older members a slight edge or some other incentive, otherwise whats to ensure membership? Whats to say I didnt just sign up for WOW beta then never logged into the site again? They need to do something to KEEP people, not just try to get numbers. Yeah the site has what 60,000 members, and only maybe 20,000 active. You'd think they should try to keep us interested, not just flood us with low quality people. Quality not quantity people!~

Yeah! Doing open contests like that incites account spam and fraud. People tend to find ways to beat the system when presented with a contest, keeping it free for anybody makes it that much easier for unscrupulous individuals to sign up their entire families from various computers to better their odds at the only thing they want from the site.

He was just pointing out that the sites holding contests don't seem to care about or find themselves unable to avoid dupe accounts from jerks bettering their odds for getting an account through any means necessary.
For those concerned about "clone" accounts... don't be. We have fail-safes in place to counter such measures. IP addresses are just the beggining there are other ways.
