Of course, it didn't take long for someone to point out the obvious. And get the predictable answer:

I've got the best solution SOE can hope for. Free transfers. I know that some people may lose some stuff...but it will be by their own choice. I suspect many would take the chance. Forcing players to actually pay money to correct a problem that SOE caused is abhorrent. Of course, that IS company standard for them.
WoW has opened free transfers MANY times to correct dead realm issues. I mean MANY MANY MANY times. You do NOT charge the players because their realm happened to die out. You reward them for being loyal to your product by helping them get into a realm that has more players and a better environment.
I can only think that grouping chat would work on larger servers like Bria, Bloodfin, Chilastra, StarSider and Chimeara but I don't think it'll do too well on smaller servers. This isn't even the right solution for the population problem, DevH (and the rest of the devs) seem to continuously ignore the population issue.
I also heard that they might be adding an ingame voice chat sometimes, are they even done working out the existing bugs first?

SWG's idea of repaying player loyalty is to give you a plaque for your house after you've been screwed over by their changes.

Nah sorry not buying that, seen it posted, been told the same crap over and over and it is bullshit. They made a rod for their own backs when they structured the game so that people go to Eisley for buffs, Restuss for pvp and the village for pve.... the other cock up they made was vet trials, so that people like me can log on, go to the aforementioned places at peak times and see for ourselves how well populated the servers are, and they're not "populated" at all, all servers accross the board. I played on Flurry and when base vulns fell on a weekend we could at times have upwards of 600 people, online, pvp'ing at 3-4 locations all accross the server. You'd be hard pushed to count that many on all the servers combined at any given time right now.

They are going to waste a whole publish (CH10) on these stupid grouping tools, which they already admit will be rendered useless (/anon) and will be potentially exploitable by BH's, that will do nothing at all for low population servers (roughly 20 of the 25).
A waste of effort that will accomplish nothing at all.
And proof that DM is as stupid as his predecessor Rogue 5 McDaniel.
As I've said before, I approve of the current direction of the NGE, and hope nothing changes. They are doing a better job of chasing away the remaining customers than I could do if they put me in charge and I tried to on purpose.
Jedi nerfs disguised as "enhancements", exploitable game mechanics (fight clubbing returning), wasting a whole publish cycle on revamping EXISTING character search tools as a solution to a crashing subscriber base, yep, that's the way to turn things around... If you work for SOE, which means you have an inverse midas touch.
How long will it take for the devs to see the obvious? There is a massive, on-going decline in active players on over 75% of the servers and grouping tools WILL NOT magically solve the problem. There are die hards that cling to their servers (no matter how desolate) who may try to utilize the grouping tools, but it solves little. There are NOT ENOUGH players on at any given time to easily enjoy game play as intended let alone enough players to keep the server economies afloat.
This is just a failed 'feel good' attempt to continue to do nothing about the real problem - poor server populations that will continue to suffer transfers, inactivity (rerolls) and cancellations. It is much easier for $OE to just sit and collect transfers fees and let the devs do the 'nothing about it' that they do so well.

They parce their words in such a way that one can't always call what they say an outright lie. They do this in the same way politicians do, by never saying anything definite, yet making plenty of implied statements. It's dishonest at the core, but no, one can't really call any of it a LIE that one can actually catch them on.
That being said, DM strikes me as one of the more honest ones they've had there.

Once again saay, why do you do this? It can't be because you are about the "Truth." If Truth was all you cared about, there are plenty of places that you could fight for truth. Why spend so many hours DEFENDING a video game that screwed over a hundred thousand people?
At least the vets who are posting here feel they have been wronged, and thus have a general grievance -- a reason to do what they are doing? What reason have you in defending them time and again?

It's more like why do some people care so much? I understand the situation and what went down, but how long does it take to get over it? Most relationship break-ups dont take this long to get over... and i promise you drop a lot more money in those than you did in SWG.

Phyluxia, i completely agree with you, it's been more than 2 years to the day, many have moved on, many have accepted it, it is only a game and i don't understand why people got so attached.
