At least the vets who are posting here feel they have been wronged, and thus have a general grievance -- a reason to do what they are doing? What reason have you in defending them time and again?
Why? fun, curiosity, a will to somehow get at least a few people to see that the ideas whipped up by certain disgruntled vets are usually complete bollocks, especially as they dont play it and know very little about it and because the sheer, undeserved, unfounded, stupifying hate i see concerns me somewhat - coming up to 3 years on. Thus truth is definately a part of it - SWG is a game i play when i can and i enjoy very much, past and present, so naturally im bound to be concerned with this issue rather than any other issues that may have better causes (how do you know im not concerned with them as well?) I defend a game because it deserves a defence (because a large amount of people are throwing hate at a game, i believe unfoundedly at this point, yet the hate propaganda perpetuates it. I feel i and the game is being wronged. That answer your question?

Why do you think we've not played it recently? Almost everyday you fanbois keep saying that but it's unequivocally untrue. Let me point out once again, that I and every other vet gets approximately 3 or 4 free months of free playtime every year. I for one use mine. So will you stop using this argument. It's just too weak.

That being said, I've said many times, SWG as we know it today "isn't that bad". I've given it a fair shot, and will continue to do so whenever SOE deems it's time to roll out another Vet-trial. I WANT it to be good. Many of us do. It's not that bad, but it's really not good. The reason I can honestly say that is that we Vets have one helluva reference point to compare the current SWG to. The game we had WAS good. It was GREAT. I keep going back on the Vet-trials to find nothings changed, only more diversions and chotchky's being added to waste peoples time and get their money.

You fanboi's can't seem to grasp why we Vets are so angry. You think we could simply go back and enjoy the game. While I will admit there is SOME enjoyment left in the game (left over from Pre-CU days), logging in is just an insult to those that really enjoyed it back then. At every turn there's a slap in the face reminding us that our great experience was taken away from us. I can see how someone who's never played SWG before could log in and think it's a bit fascinating. There's some neat stuff to see and do. But it was a whole lot better before. So you fanboi's say to yourselves 'so they don't like it anymore, why can't they just go away then? Yes, they were ripped off, but can't they just get over it?'.

No, we can't just get over it. Why? Because we love MMOs. We enjoy an economy where we as consumers have the power to stop sh*t like this from happening repeatedly. We were ripped off, and we don't want to be ripped off again. SOE needs to be made an example of, for the good of all MMO fans. It's the way our market works. SOE took one for the whole MMO development community here. They learned a lesson, and hopefully, other developers have too. We just want to make sure the lesson is learned. Personally, I feel in order to know for sure SOE has had their nose rubbed in it, is to see SWG shut-down. Nothing personal against the majority of current SWG subbers.

So you like the NGE, that's fine. I've played them both (I've actually played the NGE almost as much as Pre-CU... but I paid for Pre-CU), and I can tell you, Pre-CU was better, far better. Just know that SOE took a world from us to give a game to you. Yet you still scratch your head and can't figure it out. So we will carry on spreading the gospel until long after SWG is gone (although I do imagine we'll quiet down once SWG is shutdown).  So if you're tired of us bitching about  SWG, pray it gets shut down soon.

Oh please. Take a little time to get to know me before you make assumptions - many a time i have stated right here in these forums that i think Pre-CU is still better, im not an idiot. SOE took a game from me and gave me a different one, an inferior one, one they then improved, not to the point where it was better than before, but to the point where it was enough to keep me interested, and they continue to do so. I was as pissed off as anyone else was when the NGE was announced. Im not debating whether you will carry on bitching - im saying its worrying that you still are, and frankly, it should worry you.

Is it worrying? To who? If it sends alarm bells that we are still complaining, those same alarm bells should be going off that you are defending it. If it's just a game to you, then go play it and enjoy it. It shouldn't matter to you that we are angry. If you are worried that our complaining is going to drive away potential customers from SWG, you should petition SOE to come here and publicly apologize to us.

Now you once again have shown that your reasons for coming here and incessantly defending this game and its management are far more worrisome. It's easy to see why people keep bitching -- they don't have a game to play, but YOU seem to have what you want, yet you come here and defend that which you already have. One would think that if you really felt the way you do, you would be much more understanding of the people you attack on these boards.

  • There are three rational reasons for them to come here and defend the NGE:

    1. They genuinely like it, and think that our criticism is causing it to die.  Least likely.

    2. They are paid to do it.  Very likely that at least one of them is (and I have a source telling me that in at least one case, this is true).

    3. They get off on being trolls.  Also very likely.

You forgot one. There are certain posters (I can't mention their names because every time I make a post about them I get a warning or a ban) here at mmorpg.com who have a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome.

They probably click "report". Oh well I just chuckle at them now, one of them has like 8K posts on the official forums and almost 6.5K posts here, far too many posts for someone that really likes the game, don't you think? I know I practically never posted on the forums except for trade/sell/buy trade posts back then when I enjoyed the game.
