My intention was always to go for AOC. It will have alot of new stuff but also alot of new stuff that players will not like at first. And it will have have bugs and stuff. We can be 100% sure about that. But I will still give it a fair go and try out the endgame content. I play MMOs for longterm progress. I just desided this last week that I will not play WoW any longer. On the eve of new patch in WoW I felt I had been cheated out of last 3 years of playing a holy paladin with the changes that have happended to that spec in less than a year. Thats something that is not acceptable. And Im not paying for such things long term anymore. Devs that behave like Blizzard have done in past years should be ashamed of themselfs and they way they go on about "balancing" classes shows total lack of respect and just incompitent group of ppl that doesn't give a flying fuck about their players. Thats not what Im after longterm. If I find a gamestyle in a MMO that I like to play then I want to have fair chance to prove my worth as player. And tbh I really want something new at this point in time, rather than rerolling in a game that doesn't show good players respect for their long term loyalty and work.
If you honestly think keeping a game balanced without sometimes throwing out nerfs is unacceptable then have fun playing AoC. There are even more classes in AoC than in WoW so balancing is going to be even harder. Also you can not balance a game only by buffing the weaker classes because then it will eventually just become the same as Dragon Ball Z where every class can OMGWTFBBQPWN everything. Sometimes classes have to be nerfed to bring them down to a proper level.
Returning to the topic, like everyone else I will probably give AoC a try but I am looking forward to WAR much more so I will switch to that if I get into beta or at release.
I'm in the beta for both, apparently i can say that, and the fact that WAR is delayed will not make me buy AoC simply because it isn't massive enough for me.
I love love LOVE war for putting it back and back and back to polish the game.
No one seems to appreciate the fact that it costs them a hell of a lot of money to keep putting the release back, i don't care if they maniplulate the situation to try and get an advantage out of it.
They can put it back as long as they deem necessary.
I am not buying AoC. The art style just doesn't appeal to me much. I am not keen on photorealistic MMO-s.
Also to be able to play only human race is a big downer for me too.
I know in Conan lore it's a must however I like to play different races.
Rumors about the technical issues limitations zoning etc is a low point for me even. So I just rather play other random games until WAR will be released.
EDIT: I am also waiting the big silent hit of the year The Chronicles of Spellborn. Now they have a really nice art style, also made by Europeans so its a plus for me too as I am one of them
I remember watching a video where Mark Jacobs stated the game was scheduled for release at the end of 2007. It's kind of getting ridiculous now. I haven't played a mmorpg in 6 months now except Tabula Rasa for 2 days but I won't go there. I honestly enjoy watching the plants in my aquarium grow more than playing any mmorpg on the market now. The thing that scares me most is we haven't really seen much as far as real content ie character classes/abilities from WAR yet, other than general ideas and crap. I've been waiting for Warhammer's release for over a year now, and honestly the longer I wait the less interested I get, and the more I think that it's going to be a big POS with all these delays. I know they're saying it's because we want to release a polished game, but it shouldn't take over a year to "polish" a game. Will I buy Aoc? Depends on if they release a trial and the game is good. Not blowing another $60 on a hyped POS like Tabula Rasa. Even with all the delays I'll still be buying Warhammer? Unless Starcraft 2 gets released first in which case they screwed themselves for spending 7 years developing a game, when they could've just released Daoc 2 and made it Pre-TOA Daoc and just changed the skins/abilities/landscape slightly. /shrug
Delays for an MMO is a good thing. I really can't stress that enough. The mmo genre is full of demanding players who want only the best and talk unbelieveable amounts of garbage about every game they aren't currently playing, or doesn't match what they want from a game. Whether EA got scared their game wouldn't be in this kind of shape or surprisingly smart smart is unknown, but polishing a HUGE world like Warhammer, while tweaking things such as the Tome of knowledge, career balancing, City/keep sieges, high elf starting zones... it can take a year easily. Also, they are putting in crafting/guilds now so polishing isn't the only thing they're working on until release. MMO's are huge games, some are 30 GB in size. It takes time...
We have heard details about classes, career masteries, etc. But you can't expect great amounts of info with the NDA. There are tons of great articles and videos about career paths/masteries etc. from tentonhammer.com and warhammeronline.com. If you get less interested because you're waiting longer than you wanted to then you obviously really aren't THAT interested in it. Rather, maybe you were looking for a "filler" game. Also, Starcraft 2 won't take nearly enough people away from WAR to make it unsuccessful. WAR and starcraft 2 are completely different games with completely different motives.
The developers did the right choice. AoC will be released with a small world and bugs (from what I hear) and I believe they will will lose more players than WAR did with the delays.
One last note I want to make clear... spending time making a game better than it currently is does not mean it will be a "POS" at release. I fail to see the logic, but I digress.

WHEN DID CREATIVITY DIE
No trollslayers = the suck
AoC has boobies and blood and heads flying around...that will make up for no trollslayers.
