VomenGamers.com visited Aventurine SA studios 2006

Aragon100Aragon100 Member RarePosts: 2,686

Remember i read this article some year ago and its nice to see reports from more then Asp visiting Aventurine studios in Greece.

http://www.womengamers.com/articles/editorials/passion-behind-darkfall-online/1/
I walked into a fairly well-lit office space filled with approximately 20 or so employees huddled over their monitors. The walls were mostly bare with the exception of a Star Wars, Darkfall and Quake poster. I didn't see anyone idling or chit-chatting at a water cooler. Everyone was hard at work, practically on fire, fighting to meet their deadline.
Seems to me its a studio where a computer game is developed.=)

This is nice read and a answer to what teddyboy420 wrote in Asp thread where he claimed this and i quote -
http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/173505/page/4 teddyboy420 :

If you were answering the post above yours, then this is actually the same interview he has probably seen all over the place for the past few years. That report by "Asp", whoever that may be, is the only one of it's kind. It's the only report on Darkfall ever made by a 3rd party that claimed to have seen the game.
So teddyboy420, you were wrong, again.

Its also nice to read that the developers consider they been developing the game for 3 years when the article was written 2006. That will make the game 5 year in development 2008 since the article is from 2006. So seems im right again, as always.=)

And 5 year for a MMO of Darkfall caliber isnt that long to be honest.

    quote from taso

    * "We want the beta to be almost finished before we show it to the world." *

looks like i was right too lol.

*As I was listening to them describe all of the features to their game, I thought to myself, "It's far too ambitious." Too many features crammed into one game usually ends badly. You lose quality for quantity. However, after sitting with them for four hours, it became increasingly apparent that if anyone had enough passion and drive to do it, it would be these guys. Although the game draws much inspiration from Ultima Online and Shadowbane, unlike both of those MMOs, they don't plan on releasing it until they are content that it's a finished product. They are making the game that they have always wanted to play and they will not compromise. They know they're catering to a niche market and they're content doing so. And if they don't get a publisher, they are prepared to self-publish to see this vision become a reality.

Will they pull it off? It's that stubborn streak in them that makes me think that they just might do it. And if they do, it has the potential to be a real gem to the PVP community. *

Been sayign that all along but noooooo the trolsl ahve to be pessmetic

Aye its fantastic reading and i so admire these guys for holding on to their beliefs.

And reading this make me dislike the Darkfall trolls even more, if that ever was possible?=) These guys stay true to there hearts and try to deliver the best game ever created and what do they get for it? Misbelief and suspicion instead of admiration and cheers for trying to achieve something never done before.

Give me a break. The first thing they did was "whisk her into a conference room to talk about the game". She didn't see the game, she didn't play the game, she only sat and wrote down what the devs told her the game was. She could have just had a phone conversation with them, as far as that "interview" goes.

More fluff, no content or solid proof of the state of the game back in 2006 even.At the time of that interview, she stated they told her they'd been working on it for 3 years ( so that's 2003 right there ) and they still didn't show her shit except some posters on a wall and a conference room.

Keep digging, you might find something substantial out there ( but I doubt it ).

Nice to see more of these, and your correct 5 years really isnt anything - you can get a linear MMO done in 2-3 years, so an extra 2 years would be all the cool features :)

Nope, i believe in a lot of things. However, I find it hard to believe in something which has not yet been substantiated. Show me where in that article that the existence of a real game was verified? I see verification of a bare office and some computer terminals ( they could have all been playing Quake for all we know from that "interview" ). I see verification of there being 20 people. I see verification that an interviewer was told a bunch of stuff ( the same stuff everyone else has been told a million times in the drivel they call community updates ). What I don't see is verification of the damn game. Period.

Another great thing is that their polishing the game before release - we don't want another vanguard.

Keep up the great work guys.

On Topic: It was a good read then and a fresh reminder now. Thanks for providing it!

Off Topic: It's only single option for those guys to be satisfy, is if the game got canceled or turned out to be a bad game. Even if they been proven wrong over and over they still keep twisting the information and made up their own facs. They will never let their gard down and will keep flaming in these boards. Because they think they're look 'bad ass' with their negative attitude.

Completely true, they've been shown the game alot of times and they're only response was 'torque engine' , or 'faked' - fact is they would on be satisfied if they were to play it themselves. They know the game exists but don't want to make themselves look even more stupid.

Fixed that for ya.  I poke my head in on the state of the game from time to time, have been for years now.  The undeniable fact remains .....  "What Game?"  Zorvan is quite correct in his annalysis.  We have yet to see the proof of a working version of Darkfall.  Until we see something.... anything resembling a working version of the game it is nothing more than .... I won't say it.

Hahaha, read through Martie's posts. I feel sorry for him. But on the other side, Darkfall will be from 15 years so hopefully he will not play it.

Why, oh, why is Darkfall still on this website?

I suppose the better question is why would anyone come to a website that has so many vaporware games listed.

but it needs to be said.  You are wrong yet again.  Most of us that speak ill of Darkfall don't want it to Fail or be canceled.  Generally most of us are beside ourselves with joy at the thought that it could very well be possible.  In the end though so far they've produced nothing to convince us that it is.   I can really only speak for myself.  I'm just not the type that if someone I know and trust, tells me "hey you can jump off this cliff here and be safe".  Without actually seeing for myself what's at the bottom.

With Darkfall you are dealing with a developer that you don't know.  That seems to be telling Gamers everything they want to hear, about a game that will be like the holy grail of PvP MMO's.  So why should I just swallow everything they say, and jump off that cliff?  Sure you keep throwing out the statement they said about no paid beta and pre-orders, but that still doesn't mean much.  In the end you are still just asking me to take your word for something.  When I do not know and/or trust you.  Yet when I ask you for even a little bit of evidence to prove why I should trust you.  You act as if you can't be bothered with speaking to me, yet you think it will just all be water under the bridge.  When/if Darkfall is ever released.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

ROOOOOOOOOOOOFL.  Funniest thing ive read this year this far.

I remember last year some months before xmas, there was an article and all the fanbois kept saying it shows beta will be around xmas, guess what it never happened, then they said early 2008, guess what not happened.  We are nearly into march with half the year just about finished and still nothing.  Gogogo Polish some more wood I say.

Thx for another useless reply saying nothing. Youre starting to get really good at them. Keep em coming, always a good laugh.=)

Isnt it starting to be a bit many evidences stapled upon you no-sayers now? Personally i dont think most of you nay-sayers is here for the no-saying. Youre reason being here is something else. I could probably show you a functioning Darkfall game in all aspects and people like you would stiff find reasons to mistrust the game cause you find it amusing to hang arround here mistrusting. Your just a lost case.

And why is you here in the first place if you have no interest whatsoever in the game?

Aye i thought there were "some" maturity in them but have more and more realized they is just bitching kids and why not treat them like that in the future. Just put them on permanent ban/ignore and they loose interest, cause our replies is whats feed them. We can still discuss the game as interested fans.=)

Hope you're still around in four years to tell everyone why it's taken 11 years (and still counting) to produce this game. That is, if they haven't already admitted Darkfall was a collosal flop, and will never see the light of day.

    I poked at them who not even elaborate their though, just post for the flaming purpose. Just look at Martie's post all over MMORPG.com. Doent matter if it is AoC, Darkfall, WAR e.c.t.. He choose to contribute with simular post;

    "LOOOOOOOL hAHAHAHAHHAH!!!!1!!!!!!, this game sux"

And those who can admit when they were wrong are mature enough to have a conversation. Doesn't matter if they're sceptical or don't like what the game will offer. If they atleast can try to make a mature post it can be more pleasant to read through threads.

    Game Attacks:

Unsubstantiated comments about specific or general games will be penalized in nearly the same way attacks against people will. The exception is that you can say mean things about games provided you back it up with reasons.

    So very well said.

The Internet has allowed many people to "talk the talk", and they do that well here, I must say. But walking the walk.... Well.... That's another story entirely.

Funny thing is, Aragon, Segallion et al.. know nothing more about the actual reality of Darkfall then anyone else here. Yet, they constantly "beat the drum" over and over again.

Aragon... Seriously... You need to find a life outside of Darkfall. I mean, I've never seen anyone spend so much time searching for articles and twisting reality to prove a point you cannot possible prove. With all the posts, and the shortcuts to information you provide, you still cannot with absolute "certainty" quarantee anyone that Darkfall actually exists in a playable form. You simply can't, period.

And here's the point you and some others seem to not comprehend.

Your belief in Darkfall doesn't make it a reality. No matter how much you believe, no matter how many posts you make, no matter how many articles you twist to your own liking, no matter what you do, it doesn't make it so.

I've said this a thousand times in other posts but oh well... Until someone that matters actually physically gets to sit down and play Darkfall, most sensible people will NO LONGER buy into the hype. Notice I stated most "sensible" people, which obviously doesn't apply to you.

Hope you're still around in four years to tell everyone why it's taken 11 years (and still counting) to produce this game. That is, if they haven't already admitted Darkfall was a collosal flop, and will never see the light of day.

Go ahead Aragon/2008, go ahead and guess its release date. I dare you. Put it down here, and we can all laugh at you in four years. Even if you're not here, we can still laugh. You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?

So, what year will Darkfall release? Are you bold enough to make a real prediction?

I' point out that I can only give information that are official in several posts. And I have elaborate in a few posts before this one.

And what kind of hype do you speak of? That they release journals, screens and videos now and then? Darkfall isn't near the hype that other games in development has. We're a bunch looking forward to this game, but we must fight us through every thread, its inpossible to have a normal conversation at this board. Because of everyone that came here. into this board to flame the game. I've said it once and I say it again, were not here to pick a fight. But many are here for that reason

That's because it has nothing to hype.

The only reason Darkfall has any kind of hype at all is because of it's lowest common denominator fanbase running around the internet making stupid fan videos using screenshots and posting them on youtube , fabricating all kinds of feature sets and passing them off as existing with nothing to back any of it up , and proclaiming a game that has shown little more than a handful of generic Alpha videos over the course of almost a decade as the best mmorpg ever made...

WAKE UP.. IT'S ALOT LATER THAN YOU THINK.

    Hehe.=)

Completely true, i would imagine that most haters are around the age of 10-14, judging by their grammar and spelling.

Anyway nothing is 100% certainty except math, for example - how can one prove that a tree really does exist, and our senses of touch, vision, and smell are simply not playing tricks on us - fact is you can't.

The percentage of darkfall existing is probably around 90% given the evidence we have seen, whether people decide to keep the same old vaporware argument going, time will tell and believers won't be discouraged.

    Thanks for reading.

We're all aware that the game is in Alpha and the content they release are from a alpha build. And we're not whining about it.

You might think the features of this game is crap. I respect that opinion. But still you're failing to get us to "realize" that this game doens't exist. Because we can back up our facs, but you can't. Pure specualltions from a troll won't change our minds.
