Sorry to highlight the obvious but some seem to be incapable or unwilling to appreciate that:-

This article is from 2006, attempting to improve the credibility or reputation of this project by posting articles from 2 years ago is rather self defeating and a bit pathetic.

She never actually played or viewed the game but only talked with 5 members of the team for 4 hours in a separate conference room, the fact that they dedicated ¼ of there staff to talk about the game for 4 hours instead of member’s of the staff simply actually showing her anything related to the game or demonstrating it in any way is bizarre and certainly grounds for potential concern.

An article about 4 hours of talking and zero playing or demonstration of the actual game is hardly going to discredit the accusations made about the progress of this game if anything its only going to strengthen them, especially considering the circumstances when the developers obviously had ample time and opportunity to demonstrate in this particular situation, but choose yet again to talk instead of show.

The developers only talked to her about all the amazing features and game play possible just like they have in every other interview and press release from 2001 till 2008 but failed to actually demonstrate any of it substantially in a any form.

The article from 2 years ago has the familiar “we are almost ready” type promises and assurances that have been constantly repeated since 2001 and in the 2 years since this article was written, but all of which have so far failed to ever be realized.

If they where not willing or able to demonstrate the game to a member of the gamming press 2 years ago what does this potentially indicate about the true state of the game development in 2006 and what ramifications does that have on concerning the more recent similar assurances about this games state of development considering there still apparent continued inability 2 years latter to demonstrate the game.

I find the closing statements by the articles author most interesting.

"As I was listening to them describe all of the features to their game, I thought to myself, "It's far too ambitious." Too many features crammed into one game usually ends badly. You lose quality for quantity. However, after sitting with them for four hours, it became increasingly apparent that if anyone had enough passion and drive to do it, it would be these guys. Although the game draws much inspiration from Ultima Online and Shadowbane, unlike both of those MMOs, they don't plan on releasing it until they are content that it's a finished product. They are making the game that they have always wanted to play and they will not compromise. They know they're catering to a niche market and they're content doing so. And if they don't get a publisher, they are prepared to self-publish to see this vision become a reality."

"Will they pull it off? It's that stubborn streak in them that makes me think that they just might do it. And if they do, it has the potential to be a real gem to the PVP community."

It seems that even her common sense and critical thinking skills where eventually reduced enough after 4 hours of spiel full of “passion”, ‘drive” and “stubbornness” despite her initial misgivings to consider the possibility that “they might just do it” and that the game has “potential”.

My overall personal impression is that this person was subjected to a grueling 4 hour long “Hard Sell” type situation by 5 very enthusiastic and dedicated people being confined to a single room for the duration whilst the product was never actually shown or demonstrated.

The desired effect was achieved when the author eventually was influenced into producing a somewhat positive impression irrespective of her original opinions, but unfortunately (for the developers) an article that under closer scrutiny appears to be rather dubious and provides reasonable grounds for apprehension.
