Yeah probably is gonna be laggy as shit with those graphics, plus the combat system, sieges etc, I think it is safe to say this game will feature a lot of instancing or zoning.

The trailer looks nice but the website looks terrible

Summer of 2009? Well, at least it'll be out before Darkfall. Graphics look better, too. Heh, I liked the dragon.

The Dragon was cool..  i wonder what kind of computer they were using to run that on

If that Dragon is In there and its more than a Raid Boss in a Cage... I Will totaly play this just to see it.

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

this game has great promises. hopefully it will meet them and not end up like df.

The Video looks great, nice concept art.

Love the idea of a good sand box game.

However, a couple of things I really don't like.

You do repetitive actions for no reason, to increase skills. Hate those systems. My sword does 10 damage, my bow does 5. What should I do? Shoot my bow 500 times of course, so I can raise my bow skill. I just don't like it. I'd rather get skill points to spend. Makes for a more fun game, where you make logical decisions about which skill to use, instead of using the skill that needs to be raised.

The other thing is real time combat. In a massive game, with lots of players, lag is an issue. Even in first person shooters with smaller servers of only 48 people, often the guy with the fastest connection has an edge. If I want a Fps I'll play call of duty 4, or whatever awesome FPS is out there in 2009.

What's the point in wasting time on crafting and gear, when your twitch skills are what matters? If you want to do it Battlefield 2142 style where you get some ranks and cool gear as you level up, but it's mostly for show and doesn't really make the difference in combat, then it adds something interesting to a FPS, but the RPG is gone in my opinion.

damn you game companies and your armoured men with axes fighting dragon's.
Let me get this straight.  You can't relate to dragons, but you can relate to sasquatches?  So, someone saying "man I hope they do something about those sasquatches outside fo the grocery store!" would make sense to you?

    LMAO!

I think that video did more to display the limits of the UT3 engine than anything else. You know that they were playing that on an uber high end system and it still chugged along choppily. The UT3 engine wasn't really created for those high polygon count panaramic scenes that they're obviously trying to push. If they're hoping to hit a 2009 release window, they're going to need some serious optimization to get done.... soon.

I'm reserving judgment on this one until we know a little more about it. Right now, I can't see anything but a buggy launch in this games future.

YAY, another sanbox MMO indevelopment : )

And the developers are Swedish : )  But it looks as a DF clone to me, wonders if they have naval combat?

Apparently a guy called Talos messages you if you sign up for the forums lol Think they got a bit carried away if it is meant to be a clone of their concepts ;p

I think this game looks pretty interesting, I just wish there was more information about it.  I also like the trailer from the website; very dark and grim.  Just how I like it.

Typically the more you do something the better you get at it...  It's a lot more realistic than the level/class system most games use now where you simply level up after so much XP...

Wow! A clone of something that dont exist!

Do you mean that this is vaporware too?

    A New Hope

  • greymanngreymann Member Posts: 757

Glad to finally be able to put another mmo on my radar as my hopes for AoC and WAR wane.  We still have a lot to see but so far they are doing everything right--introducing with excellent art and video and giving features that people want to see in a game.  Summer 2009.  Let's hope they pull it off.

DF Clone... lmao!!!!!!!!!!  Funniest line ever!

Darkfall Online has to release a game before anyone can claim MortalOnline is a DF clone.  If MO beats DFO out the box, then DFO will be a MO clone.

    LMAO, DFO Clone...... lolololololol

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

What makes you think anyone wants 40 man raids?  Besides I seem to have no problem with chaotic, crowded 2142 games which is much more graphically advanced than wow.  Imagine a better PC.

woohoo, another PVP game that Pvpers wont play

graphics did look nice, although I seriously doubt anyone will see that sort of thing ingame.. its like every Mcdonalds commerical with those beautifuly stacked, cheese melting, morning dew still clinging to the lettuce buger we all see on TV.. they never look that good when you actually get your hands on them.
