In this week's update, we answer questions from the community. There are several we haven't answered on purpose, hoping to be able to demonstrate instead. Many of you are asking for a video. We hear you, and we're on it as soon as we can. There were also many questions on the public beta and release dates. To this I can say now, that during a planning meeting we determined that our launch date will be inside 2008, with the public beta preceding it by a few weeks. This is official and internally we're a lot more specific, but pending an announcement, we cannot say more at this time.
So mmorpg.com people going to be putting a release date up?
With this im probly wrong about beta by july lol

They haven't even had a public Beta yet with anyone playing it. Most MMORPG's have like 6 months of Beta.

its possible... lots of time left in 2008, I just dont see it happening personally unless they jump on beta hard and fast.
This is good news. The question now is how many of the promised features will actually be in on release.
Are they doing this because the game is ready , or are they doing it because they are out of money?

Gurantee you it's both running out of time and money. They are kicking it out the door like Ubisoft did to Shadowbane if they actually plan on launching this thing this year.
How manty times did AoC get delayed in testing?? Warhammer the same.. Gods & Heros was cancelled.

It was some good news among the hastly picked QA. Beta and release 2008 sounds great! A new video is on the way (read between the lines).
But I do want more information about crafting, I'm no combat junkie =P. Give me a game with 10% of the crafting SWG had to offer pre-cu and I'm happy.

Stop and think about this for a second - this game has yet to show even ONE core feature in a video working. JUST ONE. And it's launching in 2008??
Where are the videos of siege engines firing on cities and towns?
Crafting videos??
Questing videos??
PvE monster videos??
City building videos??
Large scale PvP battles videos???
all of these are non existent. But yet they're launching in 2008??

Everybody calm down. There is nothing lost if the game does not come out and if it does, it's good for everyone. They still have half a year in 2008 to get their act together and make the words in the Dev Journal true. Until then, just chill out and relax.

He is no different than the most avid supporter of DF on these Forums. I'm not going to point names, but frankly, Cati is almost tame compared to him.You get people like this on every board and they will do it for reasons of their own. *shrugs* Calm down, chill out and let the game speak for itself when it comes out.

Unfortunately, when Darkfall releases, it'll kill my favorite game, Forumfall.
Too bad too, because that game has worked flawlessly for me, even on my old hardware. It's also been endlessly entertaining.
Maybe they'll allow Forumfall to be open-sourced and run on private servers. You know...just in case DF doesn't work out.

I think we can be sure of one thing from Darkfall, They are not "kicking" anyting out the door. They have prooved that they are taking the time that they need, weather you see this as a good or a bad thing i up to you-
They haven't proved anything. That's the problem.

Did you even read it? He said they're having a public beta preceding the actual launch with a few weeks, which is more than possible if the 'have a complete game at open beta release"-philosophy holds up.
Mark this down. They said going for release of 2008.
