I've been reading as much as I can about Darkfall. Probably the worst/best line I've read was in another site's forums... "I already pre-ordered Darkfall. My imagination gladly accepts Visa, MasterCard as well as PayPal".
My question is this: Will gamers give Darkfall a fair shot? After all of the jokes, the wait, the rumors, and everything else... will people really give this title an honest try?
I don't think AoC, War or even WoW had this volume of buzz surrounding it before it launched. More people have heard of Darkfall than AoC and War combined!

I have to agree with you. People think darkfall has all this publicity. The buzz around my office is WAR, a little buzz about AOC but everyone is all about WAR (carebears)
I bring up darkfall, I can honestly say not ONE person I have mentioned to has heard it. It might have a buzz around mmorg.com and a negative buzz at that, but how many mmorpg players really come to this site??
Darkfall is too unheard of and too niche to have people filling up thier servers on day 1, that next to the people who just plain gave up waiting or lost interest due to bad publicity (which does exist)
If darkfall come out and is in the vicinity of being what it promises to be, I will be there to stay, but lets not be a fanboy about it and think this game is the one mmo to rule all............
OK OK.......I just went to check up on the AoC forums and they are quite busy as they are ramping up for release so I stand corrected. See Catizone, some of us can admit when we are wrong. I just haven't visited that forum in a while as I lost interest in AoC a while back. Not saying it's a bad game mind you just that it seems like another cookie cutter class based quest grinder with PvP added on as a mini game of sorts (My opinion so don't get all upset ).
As for War having 600k beta apps........it's kinda meaningless as I have signed up every member of my family for that beta including my 90 year old grandmother and my dog and I don't think I'm the only one who has done this either. Beta app numbers are meaningless. I still do stand by my original opinion however that the lack of information from the Darkfall devs has generated more hype (good and bad) than any PR campaign could have.

I wouldn't get to excited yet though, wait for beta incase they have screwed something up. Roma Victor started development about the same time as DF and released a few years ago and it didn't have many of the features they promised(then again what game does) and many of the features they did have weren't implemented well.
To the OP, the update says there WILL BE a public beta a few weeks before launch.

I played for 3.5 years. I was on Thistledown. AC was the best MMORPG ever made.
Ya Umbris shadows.. I used to have a mage debuff them then I would kill them with my Xbow and collect all the phat lootz. =D
I got my Atlan sword at level 17 after I bought all the motes in arwic for 50,000 each. I was too low level to get them any other way. To get the money I would camp the banderling captain in the dungeon in GW that dropped the hauberk then beg for a portal to Fort Tethana to sell it for double or triple what it was worth.

While i am a huge DF fan and can't wait for the release, no where in the Dev journal says its being released in the next 2 months, and no where does it state there will be no beta.
