Usually Mordria you make sense but this time you lost me.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

If you look at the pictures.. there's a window that says "No additional Instances available"
It only happens when the zone gets over a certain number of players.
I'm just trying to put the "OMG THERE"S INSTANCES" at ease lol
Come to think of it ... and correct me if I'm wrong, the 2 games that did not have instances, Vanguard and Horizons, didn't turn out so hot...
It's a great idea, but not very practical.
Ah ok. As long as they make them a bit bigger (we wont find that out for months and months probably). Then people can really stop complaining.

Sorry but Ultima Online, Everquest, Dark age of Camelot, World of Warcraft (for the most part) and many other games don't use instances for the zones. There may be loading between some zones but the zones are using a single and unique instance per server.
The exception with WoW being the dungeons and the bgs.

They are pretty big, believe me. I spent 2 days questing in one zone leveling from 20-28 and that was playing all day each day. Now for the casual gamer that plays maybe 2-4 hours a day, if that, should give them about a week in that zone alone. Then, I'm guessing, as you climb in level, It should take longer to level. So, really there's allot of stuff to do. Then crafting, building, mining, sieges... blah blah blah.. yes I'm starting to ramble lol
2 OP.. next time pleas make shots with player numbers in instances...it will be more interesting..
Why don't you take some and post them?
You need a camera as your avatar not that creepy girl (no offense o.O). And I shall also ROFL at the "Photobucket is instanced" comment. Hah!

EVE Online is seamless there are no instances + full collision server side. Seamless worlds are praitical and can work when the game dev knows what they are doing.
In every zone outside of the cities .. Wildlands, Conall's Valley, etc I have seen 3 - 5 instances. However this has not stopped me from playing.
In the Global chat (called OOC) you can talk to anyone no matter what instance they are in. So when we group up all we do is make sure we are in the same instance and then head out to kill whatever person(s) or thing(s) that are needed for our quest.
So sure there are instances, atleast on the server I am on, yet the game is still fun and feels very much like a MMORPG.

I do like EvE Online but, EvE is not seamless. It has over 5,000 different solar systems that you zone into through the jump gates.
EvE was the first game that I beta tested and my first mmo. It got me hooked on mmo's

As is so often the case, you are confusing instances with zones.
EVE has over 5000 thousand different zones, but for each zone there is only one instance of it. (much to the dismay perhaps of anyone who's ever lagged out trying to get into Jita)
AOC can have more than one instance of the same zone (very true of the starter cities of course, not so bad out in the open world Im sure)
And AOC is brutal with its zoning, sometimes requiring a player to zone to get into a tavern, or within a certain dungeon (which are zones) you can easily hit multiple zone doors (which are great for avoiding ganking btw)
The instances don't really concern me, the heavy zoning is sort of getting me down.

First off, I love the game. It is great fun.
