I don't understand why you say people don't like instancing. I've been playing this game since before release and it has not affected my game play at all.
I didn't even notice it in Tortage.
Why do you think it's such a problem?
1. it breaks immersion
2. the developer said almost 3 years after the game is developing, that they went with heavy zones and instances..
Maybe you aren't really playing the game then if you are not immersed in it ?
1. It does not
2. Boohoo, a dev lied to you. Try fallowing DFO for some time and you will get used to it.
1. It does, for some people. You have to accept that.
So you can run from one side of the game map to the other side of the game map without hitting one load screen ?
those are zones .... not instances ..... i thnk you mixed up the 2.
In Lotro I can go from one area to the next without a loading screen. Lotro zones the auction house as well as shops, Lotro in each land area will have some instances.
I've mixed nothing up, can you , or can you not go from one area to the next, walk inside a city without having laoding screen ? Forget trying to hide the differences or trying to confuse people, bottom line, can you walk across the game world without a load screen ?
You cannot. each map is zoned seperately. Honestly, every game made (including LoTRO and WOW) are zoned. It's jsut that in some games, you start loading the next zone in the background while partway through the first zone, so it seems "seemless"
This is a separate thing from instancing though, Each zone has multiple copies of itself, or isntances. So if you're being ganked in White Sands 1, you can flee to White Sands 2 or whatever.
Bad thing about instancing for me its that, if I ever want to hunt you down, I won't be able to do so unless you want to be hunted. Ruins politics in a heavy way, there's no clan disbanding if people can't find you.
The game is heavily instanced, don't mislead people. For heavily, I understand it as seeing 50 people in my area when the server is supporting 10k people. There might be 500-1000 people in the same zone, I will only see 50.
About the zoning, got used to it and with my rig is not that bad, never been into inmersion and all that RP stuff tho.
I'm just trying to put the "OMG THERE"S INSTANCES" at ease lol Come to think of it ... and correct me if I'm wrong, the 2 games that did not have instances, Vanguard and Horizons, didn't turn out so hot... It's a great idea, but not very practical.
I still have no idea what you are getting at. Fact still remains that at X point copies are made. Not having enough people to fill up to the cap does not comfort, as all that means is that it doesn't matter, nobody is playing anyway.
And I suspect you are mixing this with loading/seams too.

I think you are talking about rendering. Regardless of what you say, LotRO and WoW handled it a lot better than AoC did.

I suppose there only experts when people complain about the game?
I too agree that instances break immersion and felt that while playing AoC I was heavily directed via pathing and could actually "feel" where the zone ended and the next one began. I wrote up a blog entry about instancing if ya care to give it a read.

instanced world zones are an automatic fail as far as i'm concerned.
