That is extremely sad to see.  A game that so many loved shouldn't be allowed to die like this, but SOE has no one to blame but themselves.

They should close all the servers down and bring up three precu servers...west coast, east coast and europe.  See what happens.

Not even my allowed return could save poor Kauri . If only they did not drop the spice trade because it was too much like drugs /taplips Oh mercy save us SOE from the sin of simulated space drugs .

Then the biggest strike is 70 to 80% of the players converse in only French as it was the unoffical French Servers - Nothing against the french folks but when peeps quit because of WoW, the CU and the deathblow NGE most of the english convering players left with them.  As I have mention , I would use a free trial to try the NGE changes but not on Kuari - Transfer me for free of better yet  merger the servers.

     like thats going to happen!

Come on guys, you know better than that. Clearly they were all using the new tools to help find the other 10 or so players on the server. Had you gone to Dath - to the very top left corner of the map, you would have found the massive pvp battle going on.

Seriously, though - I don't care WHAT time it is, no precu server EVER looked like that save for like 10 seconds after a server reboot...and even then, people would have started appearing within a minute.

4 minutes and 18 seconds of video of Mos Eisley what is the point? Why would any one go there in todays game? I am sure it's fun to see no one in a place that many grouped up in the past  for the vets trying to make a point. Since i would think that the remaining players on that server are not new characters I would think they are doing instances, PvP'ing or are on the advanced planets not hanging about the noob spot.

Well maybe you could log on to Kauri and go take a screenshot of the thousands of people playing there. You can't make statements like you did without some form of proof to back them up.

Yeah, SWG's population is just fine...

Why do these forum noobs always go on these 'mini-crusades' against current SWG players? We actually play it - you can't tell us anything.

Many of us have played it since 2003, so... give it up dude.

    There. Corrected for accuracy.

And I do believe the reason that this video was made was two fold. One to negate false claims by those "who actually play it" and say that the game is doing fine population wise. And the second reason works in everyone's favor - to force Sony to merge servers. Even on the official boards there are calls by players to merge servers...even more so for the one featured in the video. Sony's current line is Pay us and we will move you or use the tool to find the other 5 or so...

    Be back in a bit.

Look NO ONE disputes that Kauri is a very dead server, however a 4 min 18 second video of walking/driving around ME is not proof that there is no activity in the game.

Someone could easily post one of Bria showing that it is brimming with life and people everywhere at prime time as well.

Kauri is known to be the absolutely least populated server with under 200 people on over all areas at prime times.

Personally, I'd like to see someone do it for all servers rather than just the least and most populated.  I'm not sure why I would want someone to do that afterall though.  We're all aware that SWG needs to merge servers so it's not like the videos would accomplish much except make me even more sad about the state that SWG is in.

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

    Wrong.

It's a video of a near-dead server. Do you know how many servers SWG has? This was posted by you to defame the game. So obvious....

Also, you are not a current player, nor are you a new player trying to find out about the game. The inaccurately named "vet refuge" is the place for you (more like 'vet fefuse'). Its a ghetto of negativity, you may find it fits your personality.

LMFAO! Bloodfin and Bria are what I consider dead when I compare them to pre-cu. Bloodfin and Bria both look like a backwater test center server did back in the day. Look 20 people playing king of the Starport stairs in Theed is no real gathering in my book, fans can say whatever. Everytime I've logged into Bloodfin for a trial I had to check and make sure I wasn't logged into an old empty test center server.

I was there. These "super-populated" servers are a myth.

I remember plenty of times there was very few on-line. People quit the game in DROVES in 2004, long before even the CU.

You don't see everyone in star ports lined up for buffs so it must be dead, right? The fact that Bloodfin and others hit Heavy Load weekly is just a lie too?

i honestly dont know why they dont merge the servers.. how can servers with tops 100 people be profitable to them? and its not like they expect a higher population to come soon...

well since they merged 2 planetside servers they might have the time to start on these :-)

    MMOs currently playing: -
About to play: Lord of the Rings Online
Played: Anarchy Online (alltime favorite) and lots of f2p titles (honorable mentions: 9Dragons, Martial Heroes, Dekaron, Atlantica Online)

The people playing who say the game is populated now either never played  pre-cu, or didn't play much pre-cu. I'm almost willing to bet even Obraik rarely played during pre-CU.

Allot of people started the game at launch and left for years, only to return in the CU or NGE. I think he is one of em. Never heard of the guy till the NGE tbh. Either way I don't think he's being honest, and the rest of the fans just like to troll. Hell I can look at my bank statements and see every SWG transaction made on my credit card, I bet he can't. Just because it says he bought the game in 03, doesn't mean he played the entire time.

Point is I'm getting sick of people blatantly lying about the populations of the game. They either say, well you haven't played  in months, or you logged in during a down time, or people are spread out. Look, bottom line is you didn't have to hunt for huge groups of people in the old days, now you do...end of story.

Okay I dont understand and at risk of getting shouted down I will post anyhow and probably ignore the shouts

    a) Tempest is classified as "very light" you can't even see it on the list

    b) in the screenshot of servers kauri is classed as light and is visible so technically it has a higher population then tempets

I go into mos eisley starport to get buffed if I dont see the entertainer we use on yavin (yeah our guild uses yavin outpost more then mos eisley) or I have to dump stuff on the bazzar to sell and then I use the entertainers there.    Mos Eisley at prime time is not deserted even off prime time you can find others around shopping or sitting in front of the starport or inside it.  There is always some guy shuffle dancing or something in some odd place.  Yet Kauri is supposedly deserted?   I guess I dont get it.  If the population on Kauri is less then 200 at prime time then the population on tempest should be lower then that.  However I'm in a guild which has an ACTIVE player base of 305 and we play at all times of the day and night.   There are other guilds on Tempest with higher numbers of active players or about the same number of active players.    So its not adding up and neither is the video unless everyone who is a newbie goes elsewhere I can't possibly see how Kauri which has a higher population then tempest can have less players when the traffic is light and tempets traffic is very light.

I dont consider tempest to be dead and during the most active of pre-cu times we usually had enough to populate one major city anyhow (possibly two in the first year).   The entertainers would get tired of one city and move to another.    In the end Coronet became the starport of choice and I would say that now the population of mos eisley at its busy time is about half of what it was in coronet at its busy time.  We also had periods outside of prime time where coronet would be deserted so the pattern has not changed.    There is still a prime time busy and still a time when the place seems like a ghost town.   Tempest never went over light during pre-cu except for launch of the server when it went to medium for a short time.

So I guess its not adding up basically people saying one server with what appears to be a higher prime time population having no players and then another server with a lower one.  I would say they simply aren't in the towns but are indeed there.

I played from day 1. Lived through the 3 months of unbearable lag where everyone and their mother had a wookie dancer in the cantina. Want to know why it looked so busy? Because everyone on the server was in one freaking cantina because play was not possible. I played through the Jedi being released and the realization that they were not going to keep in perma-death because SOE was to big of a well lets not say. I quit before the CU because they removed my ability to keep my ancient bull rancor out with my ancient graul with my BH/CH mix. Man those 2 beasties+light lightning cone 2 was fun.

I started again with the CU and yeah there seemed to be more people than I had ever seen before I was rather impressed with some of the changes as they had streamlined a lot and done a lot to improve the game over what it was turning in too. If you don't have eyeshot you didn't win. Ok I could deal with it, and I did enjoy mastering my CH, then BH, then CM, then a slew of other professions prior to becoming a Jedi with the village opening my slot for other enjoyments in crafting. I started to see a dwindling population as people had grown tired of the system it seemed, or they had just got to rich and too bored.

The NGE, we all know what happened here and there is no real denying that it killed off a shitload of the servers. I did enjoy some of the changes, but really they were not for me. I, along with my guild quit the server to come back 1 year after the NGE had settled. I played for about 6 months and noticed a steady influx of people coming back, and new players to play with. I eventually got bored as I do with any MMo eventually and got to rich, to powerful, and far to bored to continue. I came back about 8 months ago for a brief stint to help my friend out and noticed that the server had a large amount of people playing, and they were spread out all over the areas, and not in the 1 compact group I had known when I first started the game.

I think I have played enough to understand all I need to know about SWG. I know that Bria works with the players it has on it now and is rather populated. Would it do better with a server merge? Of course, the game is growing old, and like everquest and other games it needs a consolidation of players onto the 10-15 most populated servers, and let it continue. They will probly not release another pay expansion any time soon as they have these chapters planned out. People know some servers are dying, and some servers thrive. It serves no real purpose to post up videos of a dead server people know is long from saving.

Sorry for the long text, but some times people who have no clue and post nonsense piss me off.
