And who ever said the game did not need server merges? There are way too many servers and it's been that way since 2003. What specifically are you even talking about or are you just trolling ?
I've played this game every day from 2003 to late 2005. I've played it off and on a LOT since then.
In other words there is nothing you can tell a more experienced vet. I have actually played the gamein every state its ever been in, including beta.
Zing!
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.

And i've played pre cu on a server showed mostly light on the list with recommended servers and this server was packed with people guilds and player cities. Our mid-size guild on that server had 100+active members.
So what BS you talking about way to many servers pre cu ?
How many times must it explained to players about server loads sheesh ???
pre-cu server load...
Heavy = 3,000
Medium = 1,500
light = 500
NGE server load...
Heavy = 500
Medium = 250
Light = 100
definition of server load changes as frequently as the game mechanics of this game. SOE surely has changes the definition of each load class many times. So for the 78,000 time, stop using server load screenshots as your mythical proof that the servers are crowded.
Anyone that has played the game pre-neg knows what the servers used to look like. What you see today is nothing. 20 people in Mos Eisely on Bria isnt anything to get excited about.
Accept the fact, the game is dying. No more expansions will ever be made for this mess. Cancel your account so we can get one step closer to another Star Wars MMO.
Im not even going to cover the moral and ethical issues your violating by paying a company that stole subscription fees and lied for 3 years to the community. Shame on anyone playing this game
The people playing who say the game is populated now either never played pre-cu, or didn't play much pre-cu. I'm almost willing to bet even Obraik rarely played during pre-CU. Allot of people started the game at launch and left for years, only to return in the CU or NGE. I think he is one of em. Never heard of the guy till the NGE tbh. Either way I don't think he's being honest, and the rest of the fans just like to troll. Hell I can look at my bank statements and see every SWG transaction made on my credit card, I bet he can't. Just because it says he bought the game in 03, doesn't mean he played the entire time.
Point is I'm getting sick of people blatantly lying about the populations of the game. They either say, well you haven't played in months, or you logged in during a down time, or people are spread out. Look, bottom line is you didn't have to hunt for huge groups of people in the old days, now you do...end of story.
I played from day 1. Lived through the 3 months of unbearable lag where everyone and their mother had a wookie dancer in the cantina. Want to know why it looked so busy? Because everyone on the server was in one freaking cantina because play was not possible. I played through the Jedi being released and the realization that they were not going to keep in perma-death because SOE was to big of a well lets not say. I quit before the CU because they removed my ability to keep my ancient bull rancor out with my ancient graul with my BH/CH mix. Man those 2 beasties+light lightning cone 2 was fun.
I started again with the CU and yeah there seemed to be more people than I had ever seen before I was rather impressed with some of the changes as they had streamlined a lot and done a lot to improve the game over what it was turning in too. If you don't have eyeshot you didn't win. Ok I could deal with it, and I did enjoy mastering my CH, then BH, then CM, then a slew of other professions prior to becoming a Jedi with the village opening my slot for other enjoyments in crafting. I started to see a dwindling population as people had grown tired of the system it seemed, or they had just got to rich and too bored.
The NGE, we all know what happened here and there is no real denying that it killed off a shitload of the servers. I did enjoy some of the changes, but really they were not for me. I, along with my guild quit the server to come back 1 year after the NGE had settled. I played for about 6 months and noticed a steady influx of people coming back, and new players to play with. I eventually got bored as I do with any MMo eventually and got to rich, to powerful, and far to bored to continue. I came back about 8 months ago for a brief stint to help my friend out and noticed that the server had a large amount of people playing, and they were spread out all over the areas, and not in the 1 compact group I had known when I first started the game.
I think I have played enough to understand all I need to know about SWG. I know that Bria works with the players it has on it now and is rather populated. Would it do better with a server merge? Of course, the game is growing old, and like everquest and other games it needs a consolidation of players onto the 10-15 most populated servers, and let it continue. They will probly not release another pay expansion any time soon as they have these chapters planned out. People know some servers are dying, and some servers thrive. It serves no real purpose to post up videos of a dead server people know is long from saving.
Sorry for the long text, but some times people who have no clue and post nonsense piss me off.
flat out wrong...
Everyone was NOT in the one cantina. Are you sure you played pre-nge ???
Coronet... cantina packed with 30+ people. In front of SP, 100+ people in doc buff lines. 50+ random people entering town or leaving for vendors. On any given server at anytime it was easy to find 180+ people just in Coronet.
Theed...cantina had even more people, sometimes 50 or more easily. Also doc buff lines had dozens easily. Lot of PvP activity brought another 25+ people. More coming and going from town for vendors and hunting. Easily Theed would have 100+ people at any given time.
Dathomir...southern outpost (i forget the name) had a lot of activity. Always found 5+ dancers in the cantina and a doc or two selling buffs. The village when it was added had 50+ people running around doing the quests. The nightsister spawn sites like the cave were heavily camped. Again, easily another place with 100+ people.
Tatooine...the AH vs Bestine wars always brought 50+ people around. Mos Espa back then was actually more popular than Eisely and easily had 100+ players in the cantina and medical center. Fort Tuskan always had 40+ people there hunting. Krayt graveyard was a popular spot.
I could go on and on about numbers but its clear that 20 stinkin people in Eisely and another 20 in Restauss does NOT equal spectacular numbers. And on the less populated servers, player pop is so low that the remaining players all know each other by name
And your kidding yourself if you think this game will ever see another expansion. Its closing on 3 years since the last one, do you honestly think theyre going to make another after some chapters?

The first 3 months I said everyone was in a cantina. I never said it would have another expansion either.
Someone could easily post one of Bria showing that it is brimming with life and people everywhere at prime time as well.
Kauri is known to be the absolutely least populated server with under 200 people on over all areas at prime times.
Your joking right, 200 people on in prime time. I logged in on my eleder jedi a week or two ago and went to every damn spot on the map and there was a total of maybe 5 people on, and this was for a solid 2 hrs.
Don't bring your fanboisism to this thread pal. Kauri is dead and gone, and the other severs are following as well. SWG is a horrible game now and for the past three yrs.

thats fine and good, but I go by reports of stuff not by people who post in forums still hating a game they haven't played in years. You say 5 people total, but did you go into space, did you go to all the instances o wait instances with people in them don't register as being on the planet.
I do enjoy SWG or did, but I don't live my every moment going wow SOE fails or bring back swg the way I remember it blah blah blah it is a waist of time and effort. It won't come back and people moaning and complaining does nothing.
Want to know why SWG is still up? Because it makes money. If it didn't they would take it down instantly. I like to think of the buisness side of things, and if it wasn't in their best interest they wouldn't keep the server up as it is bandwidth and if only 5 people are on I can tell you the connection they are connecting to is worth a lot more than those 6 total accounts connected to it.

That's BS, there is a free trial right now for 40 days, and many before that. I've looked around, I know what I've seen. I've been to to some of the newer areas. No one is in them. I was on for a week searching for people to group with and no one is interested. My old guild has 3 people out of 200+ left, and they are always afk, or just camping out in the old city cantina. I think there was one player on Kash, and 0 on Mustafar. People aren't interested in the new chapter crap after the first week and go back to being afk, or small PvP groups.
Also I can talk to people ingame even not being subbed and find out what's going on. The few people I know left even say Bloodfin is pretty empty. The days of server crashing numbers is over. Bloodfin was a pretty tight server and I can tell you what games most of the old vets are now playing, not SWG. Sure there are some NGE noobies, but they are small in numbers now and most play for a month or so, then go play something else.
BTW alot of the people playing SWG currently have "Station Pass" (I've asked around), so the people playing aren't subbed to only SWG. Station Pass is enough to keep the game running, if it wasn't for that the game would be shut down right now. It's one of the reasons I expect SWG to survive a bit longer than most hope, that is untill SOE decides to change their game profile offerings, which could happen within the next few years.

You accept the fact that you don't know what the hell you're talking about. I have played the game since beta and as a vet have WAY more experience than someone who has not seriously played the game in YEARS.
When is MMORPG going to enforce it OWN rules and stop banning people who simply point out the fact that they are little enforced?
Whatever, I'm out.
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
This is why I call BS on the whole server pop thing. Notice Bloodfin (my old server) was stuck in loading last night for over an hour, no one was on or able to get on. Yet there you see it says (light) not even (very light) no ones on the fucking server, so why is it at (light) and not (very light) makes me think they are nudging the pop status up to make it look busy to people starting a new char.

Light used to be the default on loading servers. Very light must be a recent thing or when I played I never remember seeing it. Who knows, conspiracy theory all ya want.

Sounds about par for the course. I could see them justifying such an action in an attempt to prevent having to do server merges. It isn't detectable to the general populous and it would be a pain free and noncost prohibitive attempt at fixing the population issue.
Still, therein lies an issue. New players are needed in order to repopulate dead or dying servers. Existing players are well aware of troubled communities and steer clear of creating toons on them for the most part. SWG has scaled back on their advertising and much of the mmo playing community have tried their hand at the game and they no longer play so where will the new blood come from?

Look, anyone that's been around through all 3 of the systems will have this figured out. For example, my two main servers Lowca and Tarquinas were always "light" before the NGE/CU and had PLENTY of people (20-30 people at Coronet starport and another 30-50 outside at doctor lines usually 2 doctor lines and even more inside the cantina, just as easily as many people were in Theed as well) during WEEKDAYS, weekends were even more insane. Now in the NGE, they're both also "light" and more often "very light", yet has only 1/5 the population I just explained and the most you'll see on Lowca is ~30 in Restuss (mostly Rebels).
Bria currently has about the same type of population Lowca had 3 years ago and is always showing "medium" and "heavy". Before the NGE/CU, Lowca had dozens and dozens of active guilds with 150-250+ real members, now there's two major active guilds (ASYLUM and MPI), the rest of the other guilds are small and almost unnoticed.
You can't deny that almost all server's population are way down almost 80% compared to 3 years ago yet the server status are almost exactly the same. Devs has indeed tweaked the status threshold shortly after the NGE.
4 minutes and 18 seconds of video of Mos Eisley what is the point? Why would any one go there in todays game? I am sure it's fun to see no one in a place that many grouped up in the past for the vets trying to make a point. Since i would think that the remaining players on that server are not new characters I would think they are doing instances, PvP'ing or are on the advanced planets not hanging about the noob spot.
Well maybe you could log on to Kauri and go take a screenshot of the thousands of people playing there. You can't make statements like you did without some form of proof to back them up
Neither can you.
Population is at a record low...I will agree with you kids....but these threads are pointless. Post at SW:G forums if you still can.

AdmRiker is off on that..........If you havn't played in years you shouldn't be commenting on the game any more.
Period.
And if MMORPG wants to ban people for commenting that they need to follow their own rules....well....we all knew what this site was about.
Population is at a record low...I will agree with you kids....but these threads are pointless. Post at SW:G forums if you still can.
Problem with that is those kinds of threads get deleted often on their forums, even when it's addressing what's wrong with the game. I was following one yesterday and now it's completely gone, it was about someone talking about how they like the game then it got flooded with what was wrong with the game.

Not completely true.
If people post constructively....the post won't get deleted...and the mods are being pretty fair about keeping the threads clean.
I say this as a hard Core SW:G forums Troll with 22k + posts and 2 perma bans.

Sir, I would like to most courteously suggest that you stuff that line of reasoning. Most of the people who post on these boards, including those of us who have not paid SOE a nickel for a year or more, have probably been in-game within the past 3 months. I've been playing for the past month on Corbantis, which was Medium most for time 3 years ago. I can't recall seeing more than 3 other players at once in this time.

lol where are you guys getting this idea that none of the vets have been in the game in years. I doubt you would see the level of smack talking had most of the people here not been in the game to see what's going on, and If I could walk in take my house and all my shit out of the game I would tbh.
Originally posted by tillamook lol where are you guys getting this idea that none of the vets have been in the game in years.
Where do you get the idea that you are even a "vet."
As far as "vets" go, the genuine vets have played the game for nearly 60 months. How many months have you actually played?
It's worth pointing out that most of the players I see with a respectable level are Elders (real vets).
I see the term "vet" abused daily around here. You are a "refuge" of the old system of the game, which you quit years ago. If you came back and actually played the game then you could be considered a vet. But since you do not play SWG how can you sit there and constantly refer to yourself as a "vet?"
/snicker
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
Where do you get the idea that you are even a "vet."
As far as "vets" go, the genuine vets have played the game for nearly 60 months. How many months have you actually played? Hmm...you seem to want to be the authority on what makes an SWG Vet. Didn't see a formal mandate on the rules for classification nor any notice saying that you were the keeper of the keys on the matter. So instead of coming up with something orginal - I thought I would borrow from one of your posts.

You don't know a damn thing about my play style. I did the BH grind twice, and the Jedi grind and numorous other professions, and on Bloodfin. I played for years myself, I've known allot of players, been in allot of guilds, never AFK macroed, seen all I needed to see of every single version of SWG. I've seen the good and the bad TBH. Enough to know SWG isn't for me anymore. Other people can make up their own mind, but I can give my opinion. If you don't like that's to damn bad. BTW I logged in today to give a shout out to my old guild, but no one as on as usual. Let me guess, you were some Bloodfin non-factor back the day?

Wow...just pathetic. Why hasn't SOE shut this game down yet?
ArcheusCross: Forums 101 - read the entire thread before you reply.
I have actually played the game in every state its ever been in, including beta.
Zing!
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
And i've played pre cu on a server showed mostly light on the list with recommended servers and this server was packed with people guilds and player cities. Our mid-size guild on that server had 100+active members.
So what BS you talking about way to many servers pre cu ?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF_cfHZ0rFs
It was a pretty clear statement.
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
How many times must it explained to players about server loads sheesh ???
pre-cu server load...
NGE server load...
definition of server load changes as frequently as the game mechanics of this game.

Bria currently has about the same type of population Lowca had 3 years ago and is always showing "medium" and "heavy". Before the NGE/CU, Lowca had dozens and dozens of active guilds with 150-250+ real members, now there's two major active guilds (ASYLUM and MPI), the rest of the other guilds are small and almost unnoticed.
You can't deny that almost all server's population are way down almost 80% compared to 3 years ago yet the server status are almost exactly the same. Devs has indeed tweaked the status threshold shortly after the NGE.
Well maybe you could log on to Kauri and go take a screenshot of the thousands of people playing there. You can't make statements like you did without some form of proof to back them up
Neither can you.Population is at a record low...I will agree with you kids....but these threads are pointless. Post at SW:G forums if you still can.

Anybody who quit because of the CU or NGE is a SWG vet. Anybody who continues to pay money for it at this point is NGE fanboi.
