So apparently, being the geniuses that they are, Funcom decided that anyone with lots of money on their account is a hacker and must be banned. Could this be because they took out banks and Guild leaders needed to manually collect money from their members and store it on their character? Nah, they must be cheating.

This is exactly what i've been saying about this game. Funcom screwed up and now they are blaming the players for their mistake and clearing house like mad no matter what.

This really is sad and I hope Funcom doesn't do that to my guild.
I really had some fun times with GMs in beta. They were actually people and not robots and they even killed off a few quest NPCs just for the fun and we laughed and stuff hehe.
This was probably a misunderstanding from their side, but this was definately not ok to ban guild leaders for collecting tax manually form their guild members.
Well history does repeat itself, but its coming along a lot quicker this time! GJ Funcom...screwing everything up once again...
There is no doubt in my mind that these people will be unbanned and their gold will be returned to them, I just think there's no reason why such mistakes should have been made in the first place.

Funcom is saying they have no plans to do apparently the algorithm bans anyone with more than 40g basically and they might do case to case study and unban accounts. Anyway in the mean the Guild leaders who got banned cannot comminicate with funcom since the forum account is banned brilliantNot suprising i have seen couple guilds already disband cause of their GL getting banned and their member going haywire cause they lost all the gold to it accusing them of cheating and so on

That's a pretty stupid way to issue bans. I honestly don't believe they would have done something so stupid.

My guild has... I don't know, let's say 1,000 members. There is one account that holds money and resource donations. We haven't spent it yet, due to the problems with building (which may or may not have been fixed). The guild account has NOT been banned.
This is just bait, pure and simple.
When you mess with people's cash, bad things happen. RL or online.

WoW. This is some clearly retarded stuff going on in AoC. Glad I didnt rush to buy the game...I am starting to look towards WAR, now. AoC just isnt looking good atm, hopefully it will improve. Looks like alot of chaos is going on...not too surprised considering its just been released.

its def real. I went to the official forums and there a guilds from all over all kinds of servers where their guild leaders are being banned. This is real folks. The moderators there are also closing every single thread without explanation.
Common sense would dictate a Moderator would first debunk this and then close the thread. But according to the dev tracker no explanation. Its real though. People (guild leaders who are raising and collecting gold for their cities) are getting banned.
This brings back the SWG memories of when the GMs and CSRs banned everyone who had a duped item in their inventory whether they knew it was duped or not.

I hit refresh. Nothing. I hit refresh - ah, a post about guild members getting banned! I read it. It sounds reasonable. I hit refresh - post is gone! It's been deleted! That in itself tells me something is wrong.

I am extremely please with their no bullshit policy. It gives players who haven't exploited the same starting grounds as guilds that have had these... little enhancements; if you will.

Gosh, I appreciate how you screencaped it rather than give the link to the forums. I can't access the main site's forums like others because we haven't bought the game (which that in itself is a load of BS... it's about time to let us see the truth, FC). So that's helpful.
But yes, that's a bad approach by FC. Definitely worries me... would be a serious issue, at least to me, and probably many others would take that issue much more seriously... especially if they're losing currency at the amount that they are losing.
Hope they resolve these issues one way or another, and I don't mean the way they are doing so now...

What are the chances that only guild leaders are exploiters? Slim to none, and slim just left town. The only people getting banned are guild leaders.
I guess I can try to understand why Funcom did this...they want to crush exploiters (who should have never been given the chance to exploit...it should have been ironed out in beta) and make themselves look good but this is pretty rediculous. I guess in time maybe they can make up for it, but right now...
