    damn fine thrashing it was

seriously though they got nabbed for exploiting (and it was exploiting, i dont care if banks werent working it doesnt justify cheating) and they deserve their punishment.  seems to me these people are only guilty of being impatient.

Im not surprised that the US forums are full of whining, crying and immature posts at all.Half of the banned guilds probably had done some exploiting,I know afew guilds that deliberatly exploited to get all their guild members to lvl to 80 faster then anyone else.

I feel bad for the innocent guilds but, lawl @ exploiting guilds.

And you will understand the stance Funcom has taken. The above arent the only guys though. The percentage of innocents is quite minimal, and is a neccessity until investigations are complete.
There was a bug that spread like wildfire and many people thought they could get away with it.

doesnt matter if the innocent being affected is minimal. Innocent people were still banned by this.  Its bad thinking on Funcom's part to say "ok we'll ban everyone with 50 gold."

You cannot say its a neccessity to ban everyone including innocents in this. Thats just pure fanatical thinking there. Im sure if this happened to you, you'd be freaking out.

This really is sad and I hope Funcom doesn't do that to my guild.
I really had some fun times with GMs in beta. They were actually people and not robots and they even killed off a few quest NPCs just for the fun and we laughed and stuff hehe.
This was probably a misunderstanding from their side, but this was definately not ok to ban guild leaders for collecting tax manually form their guild members.

There is no doubt in my mind that these people will be unbanned and their gold will be returned to them, I just think there's no reason why such mistakes should have been made in the first place.

Yeah, but will the players who were banned get a discount on the money they payed to play. Will they get compensated for guild members lost for various reasons? Probably Not, and I'm really glad that I haven't gotten the game, though I was tempted.

A tiny mind is a tidy mind...

The thread was a good read. Goonheims got what they deserved. Funny thing is they still have two on the AoC forum boards as a moderator. I wonder if they're gonna sack em too.

Blanket bans are lazy, and in this case unnecessary. SOE made the same mistake during a credit duping scam.
