I am pleased by this decision to move MMOs to the consoles.  Evolution baby!!  Its only a matter of time till MMOs are on the next gen consoles.  AoC is the first test.  If its a success then expect more to follow.

I swear some of these fanboys are paid employees of Funcom.

who in their right mind would want a buggy, incomplete MMO that was designed for low-end common-denominator hardware over a polished, innovative MMO specifically tailored to the target platform's strengths?

if AoC is only going to be 50% of a PC game cause of its bugs & incompleteness, shouldn't we only be paying 50% of the regular price of an MMO?

guess what, i don't play WoW. only overweight, asocial losers who like mindless repetition play WoW.

There are a lot of reasons why all MMOS are bugged at the beggining, and the bigger reason is not the console gaming, is the PC gaming itself.

When you express your opinion about AoC, wich references are you taking? I mean, are you comparing the so "horrid" AoC to the incredible and polished  ...insert game here....

AoC is inovative, combat, atmosphere, no Walt Disney feeling... and FINALLY the only Low Fantasy MMO.

When a PC game is bugged, dont blame the consoles, blame the PC market.

so if you're like me in thinking this is still a beta game with all the bugs and is essentially just another unimaginative WOW clone with a Conan theme that was built to rake in as much money as possible, here's your proof direct from the producer's mouth.

ie: the 100% instanced world, the restrictive pathing, the bugs,  the dumbed-down AI, etc are effectively due to splitting their development resources to meet the needs of console players in order to maximise profits over delivering a quality product.

What was the role of you guy's planning to release on the XBOX360?

What was the impact of that on the pc version that we gonna see on the 20th

The impact was that when the game started production we always wanted to do BOTH, so instead of doing a port, you know this is the pc version here you go play it, you have to buy a keyboard, ... the impact was always, okay how can, First of all .....how ....does..... console players play their games, compared to how does pc players play their game... And ...being in the Conan licence, Okay...... more interaction, more direct combat, afcourse you have final fantasy turn-based that kind of stuff, but most console gamers like more direct interaction, more often then not and that was the essence of the combat system, allot was a leap of faith you know, ..can we do this?...perhaps...we don't know ...lets try see what happens, we are now into 9  iterations down the road, and thats the main impact you saw how you control it with ....... with a different directions, how the GUI or the graphics interface is build up with the taps and easy acces, and then we have a maze of challenges still to be solved afcourse, but that was the essence of it and thats what carried thru today ehmm yup,

Hey just a followup on that a litle bit is there a consurn from the sort of more hardcore pc gamers  are going to see that in it's design and be like "Okay  i'm not that intrested in this pc game because i feel like its more for the 360?

Never, he eh, i mean eh hahaheh he NO, these are the guy's that build Anarchy Online,  i think what we learned from that is that eh don't give your players all the choices right away, but i asure you there is a enough meat in Conan as you start to digg down and get deeper into it, there is no watering down, it's just a thought on a bigger perspective on how to do it so and we have been doing console games, we have been doing, we started with samurai showdown and fatal fury and that kind of game by Sega and And we have these people with those kind of skills it's just how can we mix this, so so there is no watering down Aaaahh EEend i asure what people play the most is pc MMO's but we hopefully can take things a bit futher.

    Sorry just felt like it

so instead of a polished PC game we get a half-finished PC game with a ton of bugs just so it's a bit easier for them to produce a console version? great...

Ill tell you how, Population control. Starting with not being able to pick your server, until you created a character and paid cash or in game cash at lvl 10 to get the option to create a new character with your friends.

Secondly i think about 40% of the people i know who tried the game quit at lvl 10 when they realized it was forced grouping.

This in my opinion has been one of the best launches of any MMO and I have been there for them all. Now with that out of the way the game does have issues but anyone with any MMO experience knows that all MMO's are a work in progress however polished they are at launch, Give the game some time before you make such permanent judgements.

Also generalizing insults like your last sentence are never neccesary and give you even less credibility.  Basically you resorted to the same tactics you found unapealing in anothers post.

FFXI isn't that bad of a game, the style just didn't appeal to the western audience. You could pick the server you want to go now btw. Subscription number is also sitting at #4 or something, below wow, lineage1 and lineage 2, at 650-700k people. I'd think twice before dissing FFXI.

it certainly doesn't look like a disneyland ride but it plays like a disneyland ride 100%.

EVE by example isn't a rollercoaster ride.

Age of conan is. Age of conan isn't a crappy game, it is a good game but i don't like it because it doesn't offer the challenge i am looking for. I do not look for hardcore mode, i look for a challenge and not for a E-Z/easy mode game. I am not interested in that since it is just doing tedious things and i do not like that.

That's why EVE is one of the best current mmo's in the market in my opinion.

aoc is a good game but it is more made for people who want instant gratification/no challenge and i am not lookin for that.

You know what game I find crappy?  WoW.  I think its so bad I don’t even consider it a game.  I consider it a virtual world with occasion game like elements.  But do I go onto WoW forums complain about it?  No, why bother.

Well its nice you can pick your server now, but when it launched and me and a group of my friends wanted to play together and just plain couldnt, that was a pain in the ass.

It may have high subs, but it is an asian marketplace game, they have games over there that have higher subs than many many mmos, and most of those games we havent even heard of.

Evolution = progress. I hardly consider porting to console progress. Its clearly dumbing MMO's down.

No mmo is a rollercoaster ride, you just need to look for a challenge in every mmo I played I found the easy part and the hard one, the problem is, most of players go for the easy way...

... about gratification, I really think a game isnt the right place to look for it.

See, most of mmos are easy in the first view, but you can make it harder and harder... it is the same with AoC, you can make your challenge and go for it, you can duo a full group dungeon, solo in a elite area etc.

But I agree EvE and AoC are both good games in a different way.

As I said, with  18 different models of video cards per generation you dont understand why ALL mmos have a buggy release?

Tell me admiriker4, wich MMO have you been playing?

Just to make it clear, MMOs and Games are all POP culture and entertainment, nothing more... sometimes you may find a bit more of art in them sometimes not....

See, you remind me some people that likes old fun  games like UO or cheesy ( yes cheesy ) sci fi creations like Star Wars, and  think those things are more deeper and cultural than the rest but..well, they are not, they are just pop productions with a geek lable...

Im not telling you are like that, but I think you got the point ... see, your arrogance shows you are making a huge mistake judging people for the game they play.

    ......

I wonder if you would beleive all the conspiracy theories that come your way... conspiracies are about in the same category as high school rumors.

But anyways, anyone who beleives a game is crap because there's going to be a console port needs help. *Points at all the too hardcore(nerdcore?) for their own good MMO players."

Ill tell you how, Population control. Starting with not being able to pick your server, until you created a character and paid cash or in game cash at lvl 10 to get the option to create a new character with your friends. Secondly i think about 40% of the people i know who tried the game quit at lvl 10 when they realized it was forced grouping. just my 2c

FFXI isn't that bad of a game, the style just didn't appeal to the western audience. You could pick the server you want to go now btw. Subscription number is also sitting at #4 or something, below wow, lineage1 and lineage 2, at 650-700k people. I'd think twice before dissing FFXI.

There are other asian mmos with higher "subs" but they're free to play so they're irrelevant. I was only stating the pay to play games. Concerning servers, you could've just went in game first, get a world pass off a JP, and that would've been it. Or one of you remake char until you hit the server, it sucks, but it's not like there's no way around it.

If you plain dislike the game, that's fine.  If you find it boring, that's fine.  If you think Funcom sold out because they want to make a multi-platform game, then please send me some of what you're smoking; I haven't had a fix in a few years.

Oh!  And Funcom is trying to bridge the gap between PC and console players, unlike most game makers.  If you think that's not a step forward in evolution, you probably think evolution is going from toilet paper to a bidet.

The gaming industry is changing and companies want to...get this...make money!   I believe Funcom is doing something daring and not too popular (FFXI is the only other XPlatform MMO I know of).  The game has not been watered down because of this.  You're just probably upset you can't do AFK combat because there are too many mindless mobs on you at a time and you can't just click and watch.  If you want a click and watch game, there are many Barbie DVDs you can purchase too...they have an interactive section.

Sold out?  Well, if you feel betrayed by Funcom because they are moving into consoles and attempting to grab a bigger slice of the pie which is online gaming then yeah, they sold out.
I am pleased by this decision to move MMOs to the consoles.  Evolution baby!!  Its only a matter of time till MMOs are on the next gen consoles.  AoC is the first test.  If its a success then expect more to follow.

I swear some of these fanboys are paid employees of Funcom.

who in their right mind would want a buggy, incomplete MMO that was designed for low-end common-denominator hardware over a polished, innovative MMO specifically tailored to the target platform's strengths?

if AoC is only going to be 50% of a PC game cause of its bugs & incompleteness, shouldn't we only be paying 50% of the regular price of an MMO?

kinda funny to read that there is actually a person so smart so brilliant actually bothering posting here...

But I guess his posting was meant for americans since the channels mentioned is american so now this guy is so smart he attacks americans to make a point which is a matter of taste.. hope this guy admriker4 is not an american himself or else this must be the silliest posting I came across in these forum's  trying to seem clever while not really thinking through what he types.. oh well nothing to do with people who thinks highly about themselves.

This revelation paired with a lack of serious attention to group play.. I just canceled.

I want to play an MMO designed for the PC player.
