the game is made for xbox + its not 50% complete i wish i could see your face when you get to level 60 after 5 levels of pure grind .. with 20 levels left oh, and try go to an instance... im sure it will be an awesome experience for you
Interesting how 50% of the haters state leveling is TOO EASY, and the other half state it is TOO HARD. You guys should really get together and compare notes, It would makes your stories seem alittle more real.
I cant say much about the lvl80 content since im only lvl41 but i will say what are my feelings about this game so far.
I LOVE IT! The world is just beautiful, tha fight is so great that i m not feeling bored to farm lvl's only by killing mobs. The 1st fixed dungeon i tried, Sanctum of the Burning Soul was very beatiful (kinda bugggy though) and i ant wait to try the other higher lvl ones. Leveling is faster than wow for sure.
There are many bugs and possibly lack of content as i read but this game is well created and can only get better with adds and fixes. Im sure i will be playing this game for many years, im happy
apparently you are not "all loving it" otherwise there wouldnt be all of this criticism coming from players.
This game is popular right now because its new and it has no competition from any other new releases not because its any good. To say that a game is a success 2 weeks after its release is foolishness. Every game succeeds for a short time. Lets see what its doing around christmas time when its not the newest game any more and all of its player base is maximum level waiting for something to do.
I hope for their sakes Funcom has an expansion pack lined up before six months is up otherwise I foresee this game taking a massive dip in subscriptions. Making a game that is closer to being like guild wars than a traditional MMO then charging a monthly fee for it takes balls for sure but they better have enough content planned to back that up or they will most certainly fail.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.
The amount of hate this game is receiving is only a testament of its popularity. Average games are usually met with indifference on these and other forums. The only other game that I've known to receive so much hate was WoW.
In reality it's way too early to call the game a success or failure. And besides, that would mean that posters would agree on what constitutes said success or failure.

Damn Starman999 long time no see, man. How you been?
((sorry for topic hijack))
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
If the game is so good and such a huge success theres no need to come here and tell us. It will sell itself. The fact there are ALOT of people complaining about many things means it s not doing so good for alot of people. Some want to hear why so they can make a decision. I ve seen many people that were avid backers of the game say now they were somewhat wrong. I for one don t like it at all, does that mean it s a bad game no. To me it does though. If you think what you re saying is the gosspils truth, you re wrong because i ve logged into the game a few times in the last few days and have seen many people displeased and are cancelling. Many won t of course because they like the style. One thing you need to remember what you like doesn t mean everyone else will, plain and simple.
I couldn't very well say if you're not playing there no point and talking about how you hate the game. They want to "warn" people about their butthurt just as much as I want to be the voice of the MAJORITY that loves this game.
I never once said i hated it i said i didn t like it , theres a big difference. I m going to say that of 400k that was sold you re right i m willing to bet 200-300k like it. That said theres alot that don t which means people want to discuss why they don t. Just because you say it s great etc etc doesn t make it great for everyone. Do you get it yet?
Seems incredably reasonable to me, my hat is off to you sir!
I guess we all have to vent at times.
The one true truth is simply there will never be a game everyone likes 100% everyone have different tastes, and play styles.

No, I am pretty sure right now it is a bunch of people really pissed off that they waisted 50 bucks. Give it a year and if it has all this hate then yeah call it popular, but right now it is a lot of people wishing they could get a refund for a crappy half done game.

This could be true but it could also be that theres no in between with this game. Most i ve seen is the people that love the game almost to the point of "are they working for FC" and alot of the haters the complete opposite. All i can do is speak for myself and say i didnt like my time in the game. I tried to like it i really did, it just didn t grab me in the least. I m one of those people that actually liked how hard FFXI was, but don t want that hard again. That said i want some hard if you know what i mean.
AoC is to linear, WAY to much like guild wars.. and we all know how much that game phailed once everyone reached the max lvl...
Um really what game are you talking about? Linear? Even on the starter island i always had a choice of at least 4-5 different areas I could quest in. You are misunderstanding him. He means linear in a way where you have to follow physical paths to get anywhere. For example....to get to the beach to the city you MUST follow a path. To walk around much of Tortage there are paths you need to follow or youll be blocked by various things.
He doesnt mean linear in terms of where to go to quest
Humm ok still not finding this too true, sure theres the beach which i assume is more to be newbie friendly while players learn the game/their characters, but in my experience the farther along one gets the less this is true. Aquilonia (old tatiania <sp>) for example seems very non-linear.

The strict pathing of the tutorial area and the 1-20 content does not carry over in to the rest of the game world. After you hit level 19 you move out in to large, open maps with very few obstacles, and very little pathing. Like the quoted post says, you can even choose between several different, level appropriate areas to quest in and move between them freely. The world design and pathing in this game are absolutely nothing like guild wars.
It is a little like EQ2, with the low level content relegated to a few smallish maps, opening out in to a much bigger world as you venture out of noobdom.
On the original topic. I am really enjoying the game myself. The combat is pretty fun. It isn't as much of an action game as I was hoping for in terms of combat mechanics, but it is a little more interactive than other MMOs I have played. It's beautiful and brutal... although you do need a decent machine to run it. My sub $1000 box runs it fine.
I hear that there isn't a lot of endgame content, and I wonder what jackass is already at the endgame... Certainly someone that plays games very differently than I do. I have two in the 20s, and a few more that haven't made it out of Tortage. I am starting to notice a lack of visual itemization... but I have read dev posts saying that will be corrected in the next few weeks. I know all the cool armor and gear appearances exist, I can see them on mobs and NPCs. They just need to start dropping for the rest of us. Hopefully before I get much higher in level. Hopefully, by the time people playing at a more reasonable rate get to endgame, there will be a little more to do. I suspect that will still be a while for me.

Are you really this stupid?
Leveling and lack of quests past level 45 are two different things mmkay?
humm don't know, are you really that smart? So your saying its easy to level without quests past lvl 45? Seems rather conflicting to me, but then you already seem to think I'm a idiot compared to your dazzling brillance.
Me I always thought people could still be smart and have different opinions, oops guess not i marvel once more in your intelligent fact filled arguements

True, people rarely put much effort and time into things they don't care about
I've been doing extensive OOC chatting in areas from lvl 20 to lvl 70 And I'm sorry to say, we're all loving it. They're spending their time enjoying the game instead of wasting their time here.
Newcomers to this forum.. don't dwell on the whining here. This game is BIG, a success, and VERY popular beyond just initial hype.
And wtf were you guys talking about with the whole no content after lvl 45? I've been playing non-stop and I've leveled me and my cousin's character to 62 on just quests. You guys must be horrible at exploring.
Oh, and. People who are complaining about the bugs like they've made or broke the game are simply naive. It's like you've never played a launch before.
One more thing. We're GLAD they made a game for decent+ rigs. Why must developers cater to YOUR crappy computer? Go play a cartoon mmo if your computer can't handle or get a better computer. Complaining isn't going to make them smudge up the graphics just for you.
Peace.
This is a post of conflicting arguments and hypocritical statements backed by nothing more than personal opinion - personal opinion, which is the exact thing you are telling people not to do, listen to negative personal opinion. I am planning on recieving a post from you a refute this, so I will show you why nothing you said is credible, accountable, or even worth reading.
You warn newcomers to not read what they see here, but tell them the game is a "huge success". Why post more than a simple "go to an official forum" rather than starting a thread? "Don't listen to these people, they're wrong, but I'm right, so listen to me" is a way politicians get people who don't read to believe what they say. Which is what you're doing.
Apparently you are the god of video games, and because of so, every single gamer needs to play like you. You are ignorant. Just because you claim you had no trouble getting past 45, that doesn't explain the thralls of gamers who couldn't, who found the game frustrating. Their opinion is just as valid as yours.
While complaints of bugs have been made, they are probably made from people who have not played a launch before, or a launch that was incredibly smooth, or even newbs to MMO's altogether (most likely). On the contrary, there are bugs in the game, and complaints do get them fixed. If no one talked about the bugs, would developers fix them as quickly, if at all? Logic points to no.
Video games are made for a wide range of people, with a wide range of incomes, who can afford a wide range of computers. That is while games can be scaled, adjusted, and fixed so that high end machines can run the game very well with great graphics while low end can still enjoy the fun. You make it sound like 5 people out of 400,000 or however many boxes sold have a low end computer. Ignorant.
Finally, You wrote your entire view in a "Us vs. You" format. You are further alienating AoC. Fanboi's unite is not the slogan AoC was going for. Next thing you know, Chuck Norris will be all you see people talking about in community zones.

I love the way people label other people in this and most other threads here with labels like "haters" as if there is one uniform breed here who all have the same hateful agenda.
The argumentation is piss poor. This forum and both the EU and US official forum is filled with negative reviews, comments and feelings. For every positive post there is like ten negative.
What does this prove? At least that there are serious problems with the game and that it is not hugely succesful.
It is all about retention rates after the first month. Let's see how this will pan out in the next few months.
But at the end of the day not even the rabid fans here attacking anyone not loving the game can deny that there are design flaws in the 45+ part of the game. Guild cities are instanced and removed from the game world in a way where no player ever need to go there, not even the people in the guild. So rather than integrating those they are removed.
Sieges aren't even in and also the 9 battlekeeps is split into like three instances of the border region. Another letdown.
This game has launched with incredibly bad itemization, without looking into the loot tables for bosses, without much change to clothing for 10-20 levels at a time or more.
The game has a problem with questing above level 45+ and importantly it offer no real and esp. no new sort of gameplay. There is nothing revolutionary above this level.
Crafting is bugged in a way that it is clear it was never beta tested. And ressources do not shift and are placed in ressource zones away from other people.
Customer communication from Funcom is also incredible poor.
So go ahead and love and defend the game, but stop calling people hater and stupid because they are dissappointed with the 50+$ purchase. Remember a lot of the dissappointed people followed the game religiously for 2 years.

I can't agree more. AOC is a really good game. Don't belive all the AOC haters.
This game has launched with incredibly bad itemization, without looking into the loot tables for bosses, without much change to clothing for 10-20 levels at a time or more.
The items are there. But of some reason Funcom limited the loot tables before release. Probably
in favor of crafting.
So how do I know. Well, in the end of Open Beta there was a FFA Open PvP which I participated.
Everyone was boosted to level 20, and was given cool class specific armor.

Well, after giving this some thought, I think you are right. Given the inept game making skills of Funcom, I can easily see them realising that leveling was way too fast and so they decided "hey, lets take endgame quests out, that'll slow them down".
The biggest problem with the haters is that they assume that if THEY dont like it then everyone else shouldnt be allowed to enjoy it either since THEY cant be wrong.
That is the haters that dont have other agendas like people who love other games and hate to see their friends play this one or people who have an economical interest in other games.
The sad thing for a player is that we can see through when the haters blatantly lie or spew out unfounded rumors (not all do that I admit, there really ARE problems), but people who havent tried the game cant see the difference.
A little same with fanbois that create too high expectations and therefor can make people who buy the game disapointed. Its just as harmful.
"You are the hero our legends have foretold will save our tribe, therefore please go kill 10 pigs."

Hold up I have no agenda. I'm simply stating my view on the game. I canceled my subscription and did 7 other friends of mine. We listened to you fanboys and we're going to find another game. No we're not going to WoW so get that off your chest.

I stand corrected, sir.
You seem to be waffling there. You mean you really don't know what your posting do you? (The Damn game levels too fast!, oh umm no no I mean the game levels too slow, oh oh can i change my mind again please? ) Just taking second hand remarks that fit your agenda and piecing them together aye?
Have you played the game since release? Does it have problems yes, I don't know of any MMO on release that didn't are they as big and numerous as you say? I'd say no but that is my opinion and you have yours.

He doesnt mean linear in terms of where to go to quest

The items are there. But of some reason Funcom limited the loot tables before release. Probably
in favor of crafting.
So how do I know. Well, in the end of Open Beta there was a FFA Open PvP which I participated.
Everyone was boosted to level 20, and was given cool class specific armor.
Interesting how 50% of the haters state leveling is TOO EASY, and the other half state it is TOO HARD. You guys should really get together and compare notes, It would makes your stories seem alittle more real.
Have a nice day
Well, after giving this some thought, I think you are right. Given the inept game making skills of Funcom, I can easily see them realising that leveling was way too fast and so they decided "hey, lets take endgame quests out, that'll slow them down".I stand corrected, sir.
As an outsider to the pro vs contra discussion I can just say one thing: It is too soon to tell whether this game will be for me (= fun to play).

Hold up I have no agenda. I'm simply stating my view on the game. I canceled my subscription and did 7 other friends of mine. We listened to you fanboys and we're going to find another game. No we're not going to WoW so get that off your chest.
