Completely agree. Just came back to Vanguard after being gone for a year, having a blast. I'll be playing it until Darkfall or Warhammer comes out.

Vanguard and SWG being two of the buggiest unfinished releases ever, and Darkfall of course just being over hyped vaporware, (and you guys complain about AoC?) but hey don't mind me please do hold your breath waiting for DF. imagine if one day chess just disappeared and every other game that came out was like checkers. Would the fans of chess players have mental problems for not finding checkers fun? They'd just stop playing board games all together. All the MMOs that have come out in the past few years have catered to the WoW crowd, and one of two games that were different was butchered and changed to fit WoW gameplay. Some people just aren't fans of that type of game play. They can't have fun in those types of games because they are too constricting. The only real option out there for these players is Eve, but that game is set in space which some people absolutely cannot stand. Saying that preferring one type of game play over another is a sign of mental problems shows me that you're a fucking retard.

Undoubtedly someone will say Eve is chess; not really. mining asteroids all day isn't exactly chess. Computer-controlled combat isn't exactly chess. Being constantly confronted with vulgar profanity isn't chess. Every game on the market is checkers. But I will admit Eve is closer to chess that most MMOs.

Serious death penalties makes every close call an adrenaline rush, and every minor achievement a major victory. This alternative rule-set should be in all MMORPGs.
Games are entertainment. Just like big summer movies, thinking should not be required.
I want to stop thinking I'll watch television. My personal preferance is for games that require the player to think about what they are doing. If I still lived in an area where they were played I would be involved in Warhammer and Warhammer 40K

Heard Vanguard is starting to pick up again..let me know when a trial is available and ill give it a go.
Why does there have to be a "should" be playing. Nothing out there is really worth the time or money investment that they require. I point to an earlier post in a different thread where I stated a good number of mmo players are little more than crack addicts, and this is evidence of that fact. There is no "should" be playing. If there is a game out there that strikes your fancy, then play it. Otherwise, DON'T.
I honestly believe that companies are counting on this idea of I "have" to play "something" regardless of the quality of the product, the dev. team, and the companies involved. You do NOT "have" to play anything. Wait for the trials, try them, and see what you enjoy. If there isn't anything out there do NOT settle for a third rate title. Wait, be patient, something will come along eventually.
After deciding not to continue with AOC I been back to playing Hellgate:London and Mythos. I also am going to try out Warrior Epic and Mass Effect as well. Next mmo game I will definitely be playing is Guild Wars 2 and will be waiting for mor information Stargate Worlds and Bioware MMO and not to mention Bioware should be releasing Dragon Age before April of 2009.

Guild Wars; nice PvP and PvE and nice balance between skill and theorycrafting.
Every game on that list is better than AoC, with the exception of SWG, that really is one of the worst MMO's going.

I think AoC is a joke, and I'm having fun playing it.
I also have a wii and a 360, so there is rock band, gta iv, mario kart, lots of fun.
