to the person who told me to shove it ( which was not necessary by the way) where is your proof that its not a wow clone? just saying you played it does not mean its not a wow clone. tell us why. when i was talking about the quest up to max level and do the 3 things afterwards i was talking about all mmo's in general. i know you dont mess with low levels in warhammer because of the tier stuff or whatever. i admit i have not played it but i do know some things about it. its funny how people are saying its not a wow clone when it clearly is. the only thing new about this game is you pvp more. that is it. the combat is the same click and watch and bunny hop (wow). there are quests that you do (also wow). crafting is also in this game (wow also). elves dwarves and orcs (wow) the interface is even the same(wow yet again). where is the one thing that makes it not wow? conan has its combat system. guildwars has its story driven missions, unique creatures like the char, and fun pvp. the question is what does warhammer have? pvp? i have no clue please inform me. and please give me reason to your logic other than its awesome because it is.
Yes, it has auto attack. But try running through someone in WAR. That's right, collision detection and knockback! Woohoo! Quests...uh, yeah, quests are in pretty much every MMO in one form or another. Public Quests = next step. For crafting, you won't have to do the super raid 20 times for the formula for the mega enchant to drop. It's trial and error, not recipe based.
Elves, dwarves...blah blah blah...WAR first WoW second. Interface is customizable and even unique for some classes (Shamans have seperate bars for Mork and Gork). WAR is a casual, fun game that's based on some things that WORK from other MMOs and improving them, adding in their own little twists. Most importantly they're NOT claiming it's "revolutionary" so if you're going to complain about that, AoC is that way --------------->.
In WAR when you bunny hop sets your auto attack timer back to 0 and doesn't return to counting until you are standing back up.

Oh damn..
In WoW I always jump when doing my Raptor Strike or instant shots. It is a big part of my flair and action feel I got. Sigh....
I'd put a cooldown on jumping but completely kicking it out of combat like that is a bit heavy handed imo... Especially since you can get knocked down if hit or if you collide with someone in the middle of a jump.

jumping breaks your attack timer, starting you back at 0 for auto attacks, and your character has to be standing up straight again before the timer starts

I hate bunny hopping as much as the next guy but imo there are much better ways of preventing it that wouldn't gimp the action feel of the game!
What's wrong with jumping being on a cooldown and a bit dangerous to pull off in a fight? People wouldn't be hopping around like crazy and yet you could still pull off risky spectacular moves just to show off.

What you need to understand is, a great number of people find bunny-hoppers extremely annoying. Especially when theres an accompanying grunting noise every time you do it. I also think they should put in a wieght limit (sort of), where if youre wearing plate armour you cant jump at all. Chain would be maybe 1/4 of a jump. Leather and cloth you wouldnt have any restriction... except for the timer reset. Seriously, ever try to jump repeatedly while holding or supporting about 8 pounds of dead-wieght? xD
I like the timer reset and hope it doesnt get removed because of whiners (not saying markoraos is whining).

Youre contradicting yourself. First you say you like bunny-hopping during fights, then you say you hate it as much as the next guy... jumping around during a fight isnt that great... you want jumping and stuff during fights, play Spellborn (Ive still got the beta)...
WOW didn't invent but it perfected it and it's clear to see in mmorpgs these days of other companies looking at WOW and taking loads from it and you can see that in the style of the UI these days. Not to day that's a bad thing because it's been happening since the start of life.
---------------------------------------- Talking about SWG much?
It is one of the best moves they have done in this game. Jumping around not only looks stupid, but it truly makes some peoples gaming experience annoying. I for one could care less if people are jumping around i know why they do it, but it s easily beaatable. Hell i even used to do the run through the caster, back and forth in DAOC and they almost could never get a cast off. It worked great for me but now with CD i won t be able to. Does it bother me no, i like a challenge:) Anyways i think bunny hopping should be stopped some how and i m glad they re doing this.
since people are still whining about it let me clarify myself some more.
i consider it a wow clone because it LOOKS like it. I know its not but when i watch the videos and whatnot i feel like im watching a warcraft video. It just looks the same to me. If they want us to know its not a wow clone then they will advertise it as such.
If you want to talk about whats been around the longest look at Conan. This is from Wikipedia "Conan (often referred to as Conan the Cimmerian, from the name of his homeland, Cimmeria) is a fictional character created by Robert E. Howard in the 1930s" IN YOUR FACE WARHAMMER MR I ONLY BEEN AROUND SINCE THE 80'S. My point is dont cry about whos been out the longest because IT DOESNT MATTER.
Unless you can prove that warhammer has that one thing to promote itself different than warcraft its just the same old thing to me. Collision detection is not that big of a deal to me.
Do not get me wrong warcraft is a good game since 10million or whatever it is now players play it. Warhammer will do good to since it is the same thing only more pvp. It is just that its not revolutionary or adding anything to the genre. I understand its not claiming it either. All it is is improving it and that is ok. I just want you all to know that its just another mmo, nothing more.

Does Conan have Dwarves, Orcs, Humans and Elves?
Does Warhammer have Dwarves, Orcs, Humans and Elves?
Does Warcraft have Dwarves, Orcs, Humans and Elves?
Now which one came first out of those three that HAS Dwarves, Orcs, Humans and Elves?
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Howard didnt invent high fantasy. That was Tolkien, so your arguement is flawed. Also, unless I missed my guess, the Middle Earth stories were in writing in the 20s. Conan has more in common with the Cthulhu mythos than it does with high fantasy (such as elves and orcs).
We already explained why its not a clone... and calling us whiners really isnt helping your case any.

Keep sieges=WOW doesn t have them, even though they re adding similar stuff to their x pac it won t even be remotely close to how well they ll be in WAR. Not in at release but a Darkness Falls type dungeon, if you played DAOC you ll know why it s awesome and WOW has nothing like it.
Ok, lets see a pvp(RvR) that effects the world with EVERYTHING you do , wether it s pve or pvp. Trophy system that can altar your characters looks , through quest and titles(TOK unlocks). Just because the only mmorpg you have played is WoW and that's all you can reference I can understand why you would see it as a WoW clone. Why people are trying to convince others that WAR is a WoW I have no idea. I think they need to play some other games. Go play the DAoC trail and see what some real PvP is.
The reason they are harping about it being a Wow-clone is that they find warhammer a threat. A threat to their personal gaming safety. Wow is simple, its easy, it runs on anything. Its also flawed and broken in a lot of way, and lots of people only play it still because thats where their friends are. So anything that could suck their friends away to something better threatens their peace. So they do everything they can to discredit the game and make it look like a crappy game.
The mantra of "its a wow-clone" implies that if youre going to play a clone, why not just stick with the real thing?

Do you have reading comprehension problems or what?
What I said is that I like being able to jump occasionally and I hate constant jumping.

This is exactly the issue.
WoW has become a security blanket for alot of people. Like a little child, if you threaten to take away said security blanket they feel the need to stand up to it.
It's a Jeep thing. . . _______ |___| \_______/ = |||||| = |X| \*........*/ |X| |X|_________|X| You wouldn't understand
No I dont have a reading problem... but then I wasnt resorting to insults either.
I apologize but I believe I made my position perfectly clear. Sorry but it irks me to no end when people attack my viewpoints using false quotes and unbased conjectures.
A: The sky is blue.
B: You bastard! The sky isn't red, it's azure!
A: Wtf, I said blue - you might as well say it's az....
B: It's azure, you hear! It is not red, IT'S NOT RED!
Not related to some fool babbling about clones and his missing chromosome. But I like the jumping penalty, you'll definately be able to pick out the ex-WOWers during their first RvR battle; hopping around and dying. It will be great.
No I dont have a reading problem... but then I wasnt resorting to insults either.

That wasnt false quoting or conjecture. I just found the two at odds. But its ok, I understand where youre coming from.
When I played a druid in Warcrack, I liked jumping off rocks and stuff in cat form. And also I liked pouncing on mobs, running past them and jump-claw-swing around and attack some more. But that was the only time I did any jumping in combat... jumping to get over ravines or up hills and stuff going to the "youre not supposed to be here" areas doesnt count.
It is interesting that somebody here notified that players of the game I don´t mention anymore are frustrated by the WAR beta.
I expected something like that. Many players of that game seem to know no other MMO and have tunnel vision as to what classes in an MMO are ALLOWED to do and to be.
WAR has not only 24 classes, but count that times three: Each class can be taken into three different directions. So they are flexible and cant be nailed down to something they MUST do.
And this is my point: Exactly this flexibility slams the door into the faces of players I hate most -
- The elitist geek that tells you what to do and how to skill your char -
And we know which cultural crime that calls itself a game is full of those people.

This is another reason I'll put up with the idiocy of not having official forums... they do things like this and makes me happy.

Lol I use the Raptor Strike only as a finishing move (hopefully) and instant shot jump only when I'm strafe-kiting cause it looks really cool.
Maybe I did say "always" there for emphasis but that didn't mean i jump around all the time. I do these jump+skill things on maybe 5-10% of skill uses.
Anyway, its a small thing, a fluffy thing that doesn't mean anything really and which can be so easily controlled so as not to break immersion with abuse. I really don't get it why so many people are so hell-bent on gimping someone else's fun that doesn't affect them a bit.
Bunny hopping is irritating to me as well, but there are better ways of controlling jumping in combat. The restrictions I propose are much tougher than what is currently on (if the original post is correct, that is) but it would still leave enough room for an occasional jump-swing or suicide leap into the crowd of enemies while bursting AoEs.

The mantra of "its a wow-clone" implies that if youre going to play a clone, why not just stick with the real thing?
Please tell me you are not just making that up!
jumping breaks your attack timer, starting you back at 0 for auto attacks, and your character has to be standing up straight again before the timer starts

I hope they keep this.
I really hope they don't!
Youre contradicting yourself. First you say you like bunny-hopping during fights, then you say you hate it as much as the next guy... jumping around during a fight isnt that great... you want jumping and stuff during fights, play Spellborn (Ive still got the beta)...
Do you have reading comprehension problems or what?
What I said is that I like being able to jump occasionally and I hate constant jumping.
occasional </> constant
What is contradictory here?
No I dont have a reading problem... but then I wasnt resorting to insults either.
This is exactly the issue.
WoW has become a security blanket for alot of people. Like a little child, if you threaten to take away said security blanket they feel the need to stand up to it.

A: zomg...
war was out before warcraft so you fail
Not related to some fool babbling about clones and his missing chromosome. But I like the jumping penalty, you'll definately be able to pick out the ex-WOWers during their first RvR battle; hopping around and dying. It will be great.

Please tell me you are not just making that up!
