    Diablo is a multiplayer game. Its not an MMO.

    There are 3 types of people in the world.
    1.) Those who make things happen
    2.) Those who watch things happen
    3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

    Some would question that D3 is an mmo. I mean, it is MASSIVELY.. MULTIPLAYER and ONLINE... but it doesn't deserve to have MMO status imo

    Diablo 3 will be good game.. and people will be playing warhammer online and diablo 3 at the same time :) thats what I think going to happen

    diablo 3 will use battle.net.  that isn't a persistent server like MMO's have.

    Yeah absolutely pointless, since Diablo is not an mmo. BTW Diablo 3 looks the same as D2 just better graphics and new content, just another Hack n'Slash.

    And yeah a lot of ppl will be playing Warhammer Online so...no time for D3

    not an MMO...discuss it on a diablo fan site.  nothing to discuss anyway.  no release date and you saw the footage and trailer.  that's all there is to it right now.

    D3's only online multiplayer feature will be enabled using battle.net, like Warcraft 3, D2, and Starcraft. Guild wars and Hellgate actually have specific servers, putting them a lot closer to the mmorpg status.

    It all depends on how picky you want to be about the "MMORPG" definition, but just because its an online role-playing game doesn't mean it should be on this site.

    Waiting for:

    -Games-
    -Re-Launch of Hellgate:London US/EU Servers
    -Diablo 3

    -A PvE centric MMORPG with-
    -Fast paced twitch-action combat that requires hand-eye coordination, where you can manually aim your attacks instead of having to acquire/lock target(s) first.
    -FPS-style WASD and mouse control that determine your overall success when attacking or defending.

    YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND what MMO means, D2 is not an MMO and D3 will NOT be an MMO. Why? Cause is NOT a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE Game nad is Single Player based so go cry on the blizzard forums.

     

    BTW Diablo is not one of the Grandfathers of MMOs... maybe a Grandfather of the RPGs

    Although I call them ALL MMOs because I use the multi-player feature to play, it really isn't one.   But you can call it an MMO, too, if you like.  Although that still won't get it a place on this forum.

    I can't even believe this post...It's just so ridiculous.

    Diablo 3 is going to be an AMAZING game, but it is not an MMO.  If Diablo 3 is an MMO, you might as well consider Starcraft 2 an MMO, Halo 3, Counter-Strike, etc.

    It's really embarrasing that this is one of the only genres that is ambigous to most.  Guild Wars isn't really an MMO, DDO isn't really an MMO, AoC really isn't an MMO, and Diablo 3 is IN NO WAY an MMO.

     

    Diablo 3 can best be described as an Action RPG / MUD.  MMORPG stand for massively multiplayer online role playing game.  What stands out is the 'massively multiplayer'.  Maybe the MMO world should consider a new name for the genre, because people don't understand the massively multiplayer concept.  What this means is that you play with a MASSIVE amount of people at the same time.  8 people does not constitute MASSIVE.  Now, before you claim that picking any arbitrary number could constitute massive, there are some other requirements.  For example, a persistent world is part of the genre. 

    Diablo 3 won't have a persistent world.  Instead, you will essentially create a new game every time you play.  Your character's stats save from game to game though.

     

    So, please, if you are going to be an MMO fan, you should at least know SOMETHING about MMOs...

    Why do you consider Diablo 3 an MMO when the developers aren't even pushing it as one?

    Battle.net is a gaming network hosting games within its servers. I could be wrong, but isn't 8 people the max per game? How can that be considered an MMO?

    MMO stand for "massively mutlitplayer" online game, not a massive multiplayer online game.

    This game isn't massively multiplayer, only multiplayer. It is an morpg not an mmorpg.

    No discussion necessary, it is not an mmo in any way shape or form.  Hell Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 are more an mmo than Diablo.

      Oh, and.....

     

      Its not an MMO.  A chat lobby does not constitute a massively multiplayer game.  By the OP's standard...Halo is an MMO.

    What's stupid is these D3 hyped drivebys coming to other game forums dropping their load. It appears the same "Earth to Hyped D3 Moonbats" memo was sent and received.

    Never played D3, have no reason to play D3, and it doesn't belong on a DX3 forum.

    Now send that back to your "leader".
