OP is right, but is closed minded not realizing WoW opened the MMO market to what it is now.
What were the expansion sale figures?
"Blizzard Entertainment's highly anticipated expansion for World of Warcraft broke the day one sales record for computer games with nearly 2.4 million copies of The Burning Crusade sold."
How accurate is the actual sales figure and is it just the case that the 700,000+ being quoted is what had shipped ? I don't remember Funcom actually quoting their own sales and subscription figurea.
With more than 700.000 accounts created so far we have a fantastic platform to build from
700000 last week means at least 800-900000 this week, it is still selling like hot pancakes on a winters morning. Peple just trust Amazons too much and cry doom because AOC dropped to 90 in overall video and hardware lol.

Too bad that half a million of those never made it through the first free month... and 150k from the rest 200k are still in Tortage

1) Not necessarily, there is no proof to support that.
2) If you can assume the number of accounts has increased, you could also assume the number of cancellations has increased. If the number of cancellations have increased faster than the number of accounts created, that certainly isn't a good thing.
In regards to amazon, at least its something live and tangible that can be observed. A press release from funcom for example isn't tangible, just meaningless words on a website that can very easily be faked. It would be nice if there was actual proof that the game was doing well, so that such claims were justified. But there isn't to my knowledge. Just a lot of heresay and wishful thinking.
When was the last time they opened up new servers, and how many did they open? I've always found that to be a good indication of whether a game is truly gaining subscribers.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.

WoW had 1.5 millions 4 months after relase. AoC already has 700k after 1 month. Impressive! I did not expect to see a WoW killer that soon!
Great work FC!
WoW killer, lol...
You made me choke on my cornflakes and spill milk into my beard.....
lol

Anyone who imagines that AoC is the "new king of MMOs" has innumeracy problems that are beyond any hope of resolving.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

No, I think he means that I cannot count, or something.... 1 3 2 5 3 6 34 3....
The king in my view is UO and will always be UO. Richard is a God *bows* , pay respect scrubs.

Very interesting! This 700k PR thingy is something like Turbine saying: 4 million LOTRO characters created in the first 6 months

Of course, the future always in motion is.
AoC could, someday, surpass WoW's numbers.
Of course, Funcom, like SOE, has failed to understand, or do not want to understand, why WoW's numbers are what they are.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Aren't you the guy that just posted an equally enthusiastic post about StarWars Galaxies' new trading card game?
Are Funcom and SOE outsourcing their online marketing these days or what?
Spelling, tut tut!!!
It's "I trust FC. They know they're shit..."
still freakin hilarious

Ok I play AoC, and I like the game alot, but as for WoW-killer, it's not.
I don't think it was meant to be, I mean first you have age limits - 17/18+ only.
Then you have hardware requirements, that mean alot of people will have to upgrade in order to play the game and see the spectacular graphics.
So I don't think it's a WoW- killer, not yet anyway. If it were to be it would have to be much more accessable and polished, maybe in a few years.

Theres no age limit, it's merely a guideline
Come on ,i dont know any finished mmo ,theyll have always bugs and problems .Unbalanced ?More than shaman at wow release ?
PS:I dont play AOC , fantasy mmos are not my cup of tea
that 700k number doesnt tell you alot
it means AOC has sold and registered 700k copies in the last 6 weeks since launch
its also means that AOC has sold 200k more copies since their last press release regarding 500k
200k additional copies sold in 4 weeks is not bad - but its not great either

Think the King has been killed. AoC population is now falling.
Great work FC? Nah, I don't think so.
WoW killer, lol...
