Damn now what am I to do in WAR with just 20 classes and 2 cities there is going to be no content at all. This game sucks goodbye.

It's not that they don't have enough content that has me worried, but the fact that they planned and designed the game for years around this content. They had endless meetings and decided it would be the best design and now they are cutting it because of a deadline. I don't think it's the end of the World, or this game will be bad because of it, but it does scare me. Changing major design elements this close to launch can have major side effects.

No I would rather them finish the game the way it was designed. What is it with you guys being so rude? it's not like they put on hold ENTIRE features. We still have city seiges. They just have less of a certain feature, which in the end brings larger scale battles. The kind of battles that people will talk about years from now to the newbies.

Yes actually especially if they're up front about it within a reasonable time period so Whiners can cut ship and run. Atleast they're willing to NOT put subpar content in like MOST games would *cough aoc, cough vanguard*
Look Game Software especially MMOs are expensive to make, super expensive. Hell more expensive than some of the software the US military buys. Eventually you have to be FIRM about the date. Eventually the simple excuse of 'its not completely ready' doesn't cut it anymore. If they'd of delayed people would of bitched and cried just as much if not more.
They're not removing an entire system simply a couple of options. If they were to remove the Guild System or even the PvP system I could see the need to complain about incompleteness. Techincally they're delivering everything they majorly promised which is Massive Battles, PvP, PvE, Sieging etc. The game may have some 'content' missing but you know what so did WoW...WoW was missing its ENTIRE end game system, WAR is not.
Unless you know of some magical endless money fairy and suddenly learn how to program / design games then perhaps you should just step off.
I'm not saying I LIKE the decision but I am saying good common sense and a sense of reason is warrented and all the bitch whining of incompleteness doesn't apply. To me a complete game obviously means something entirely different. To me a complete game means all the Systems necessary to run are in and functioning other than minor bugs. Thats what they're giving us even if they had to forgo a few peices of content in order to reach the 'complete' status.
Now if they cut out Sieging I'll be eating my own cheese with a whole lot of whine.

I think we're all a little anxious about how this will work out. There are some who just like to look at the bright side. Some take a look at the good and bad. Some look at just the bad. It's all about perspective.

The only problem I have with it is the words major design elements. They did not change major design elements, they removed content. There is still an even number of classes on each side and equal number of roles, and there are still city sieges. They just reduced the number. If WoW was to cut out half the raids that wouldn't be a design change it’s a content removal.
saying design elements is saying they changed the idea of the game, its still going to be a RvR war between two sides with siege warfare.

Its standard practice with any software development and not just games. Eventually a firm date has to be reached you don't know that firm date from the beginning with every single project. Not to mention changes that need to be made over time it all starts to burn up the time thats needed to reach completeness. Eventually that time over runs and delays happen but still eventually there has to be a cut off because if you NEVER put a firm date down and you NEVER decide on an end point the work NEVER ends.
Despite what you think Red its not just Start & End...there's Start.....eventual Middle....eventually decide on an end. While I'd like the game to have all the content CHOICES (since techincally the end game is there just less choices) its not that far fetched to release without some of the choices to get started.
When your designing something as massive and changing as an MMO over scheduling & design happens, hell it happens with EVERY game. Its just far more obvious in MMOs than it is in a standard single player game.
The fact is unless your in software design & production (which I am and I can tell you cutting anything out is hard as hell to decide on and HURTS like hell to see something you slaved over go to the way side even if its temporary) you have no damn idea what its like trying to reach an end point. Eventually everyone wants to be able to sleep and see their families for more than 2 hours a night. Eventually everyone would like to take a vacation and get replenished. But if there's no end date insight it just tends to really KILL productivity and morale.

Fair enough but i can say the exact opposite as you stated no one knows. It is false to say they re changing major design elements. I hope you understand what i m trying to say. I m not trying to be mean to you just sick of the constant stuff people claim to know that is purely opinion not facts.
Where are the underwater worlds in WAR (scrapped two years agi) Where are the flying units (Warhammer has about 20% flying units in its lore) (scrapped two years ago). Where is the mounted combat ? Scrapped one year ago. Where are the mounted dwarf tanks? Scrapped? Not even a dwarf city anymore.... Whare are the Ogre Kingdoms? Where are the Teutogen Guards? Where are the Tomb Kings and all those other classes from our rich Warhammer worlds ? Nothing : NO where to be found. WARHAMMER is just a cheap excuse to DAoCAmelot part 2 with copies all over from Wow techniques. And now the final question: with even the final City Sieges being controlled in instances where is that famous old RvR ssytem Mythic had. Says enough isn't it. ---- I guess Team Fortress 3 will have MORE features than Warhammer .... LOL
gotta save SOMETHING for the expansion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
Only parts of the city are instanced anyway. The lag from the massive battles would kill.
It's true...there's a lot that doesn't go into a game that they originally wanted, but we are still getting the 4 cities and probably the 4 careers. They are just being phased in after launch

I know man i'm a programmer and I worked on some 6-7 months game projects at Full Sail and a Sim after I graduated and I caught myself gold plating all the time. In a way you couldn't pay me enough to be on Mythic's dev team right now, but at the same time i'd love to be in the trenches with them.
I have much respect for Mythic(I hate the hype marketing style though... Maybe I just don't like the ridiculously charismatic presenter) and again I would go the same route they are going, but it still scares me and i'd rather see them delay it for long enough for this to get in, but I know there is a fine line. No matter what though it isn't good news when something gets cut. The worst part of it for me is that most of my friends from college are big Warhammer fans and I have been defending WAR from their claims that Mythic is going heavily for WoW and DaOC fans putting Warhammer fans on the backburner and when they cut the cities it was the last straw for them.
I hope I don't come off as a hater because I like and support every MMO that's ever been released for what it adds to the genre. The only one I have any kind of beef with is WoW and not because it isn't an awesome game, but because of it's success. I am a variety whore and that should explain it well enough.
Where are the underwater worlds in WAR (scrapped two years agi) THey were never planned henced never scrapped Where are the flying units (Warhammer has about 20% flying units in its lore) (scrapped two years ago). Again they were NEVER part of the design or promices henced not scrapped Where is the mounted combat ? Scrapped one year ago. They've said NO to this since the beginning so its NOT been scrapped Where are the mounted dwarf tanks? Scrapped? Not even a dwarf city anymore.... See Above Whare are the Ogre Kingdoms? They're there they're just an NPC race since they are techincally Neutral or work for the highest bidder expect them to always be NPC's since they have no clear sides Where are the Teutogen Guards? Where are the Tomb Kings and all those other classes from our rich Warhammer worlds ? SEE ABOVE Nothing : NO where to be found. WARHAMMER is just a cheap excuse to DAoCAmelot part 2 with copies all over from Wow techniques. Wow...You know absolutely NOTHING lol sorry but everything you mentioned is visually there just because YOU dont' get the option to play it doesn't meani ts scrapped or left out. And now the final question: with even the final City Sieges being controlled in instances where is that famous old RvR ssytem Mythic had. ONLY ONE PART is instanced again..Please do some fact checking. Only the initial street brawling is instanced the entire rest of the siege is not because OMG gasp the Siege is in stages! Says enough isn't it. ---- I guess Team Fortress 3 will have MORE features than Warhammer .... LOL
Team Fortress 3? .... wow...grow a brain seriously.
btw Red...I totally feel you...just imagine tho if you were old like me...rofl when it was still an Associate's degree you only had 2 to 3 months to pull it off. Plan big..end up with small but playable in the end to meet the deadline lol.

Yes there's a load of stuff they could have included, at the end of the day the Warhammer universe is so immense and rich in detail that they could never include it all. They had to pick a handful of things and roll with them. Nobody wants to see things cut from a release they've been anticipating; but i'm glad in a way that they've publicly annouced the cuts, instead of releasing the game then saying "oh btw we didn't bother with a few classes, cities and a plethora of other things, sorry". I strongly believe that the remainding features still outnumber those featured in the majority of other games currenlty on the market.

you could fill books with the stuff this game will not have.
and besides I want the game more for DAOC 2 rather than warhammer

Lately I had been feeling disappointed by a lot of the news coming out of WAR but things like guild wars are what really matter and what can make the game fun. I've always thought guild VS guild is where it's at, who actually cares about their 'faction'? Most people have characters on both sides in faction based PvP games anyway. However guild competition is very fierce. It is much more fun to fight for the honor and glory of a guild that you really feel a part of rather than a faction of faceless people driven by NPC story.
My question: In DAoC it was not possible, to have characters in different realms on the same server (less realm-espionage). How is it managed in WAR?
btw imho it is pretty lame to join a new game with a full guild, planned already in closed beta or a previuos game. Less socializing in a realm.

Same way. You cannot have an Order character and Destruction on the same server.

I think we're all a little anxious about how this will work out. There are some who just like to look at the bright side. Some take a look at the good and bad. Some look at just the bad. It's all about perspective.

Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
This is one of the best reasonings I have ever read in this forum.

Ignore this person he/she trolls every forum. Not sure if this person likes any game or just likes to be heard.
Theres no side effects when it benefits the game as a whole. Why do people insist on posting crap they have no idea about. It was a decision to BETTER the game no to have side effects. Would you rather they released it without telling us, won t mention the company that just did this as we all know. I mean they told us , it s better for the game atm and it will be phased in. Why are people so blind to this.
No I would rather them finish the game the way it was designed. What is it with you guys being so rude? You don't know the side effects and neither do I which is why I said it CAN have major side effects. They will always tell you that whatever they do is good for some reason. The fact of the matter is that they are cutting content to meet a deadline.
I even said I don't think it's the end of the World and that the game won't be bad because of it. All I am saying is that it scares me. Do you think being a jerk will make me feel better about it?
I am a fan of phasing the stuff in if they can and have the time and don't release it as an expansion. I have always said I am a fan of delivering less more polished content than more unpolished content. I have also said that if I was in there shoes and I had to deliver the game by the decided date then I would take the same approach they are taking. That still doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have it pushed back, and yes it still does scare me.
It amazes me that people can take bad news and spin it around to be great news and then shove their opinions down my throat when I express my concern in a legitimate manner.
Fair enough but i can say the exact opposite as you stated no one knows. It is false to say they re changing major design elements. I hope you understand what i m trying to say. I m not trying to be mean to you just sick of the constant stuff people claim to know that is purely opinion not facts.
I'll quote 2 things from you...
"O, what the heck 4 classes and 4 capital cities are cut damn,"
"20 classes, each with their own distinct look"
So they added 16 classes? -.^
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
gotta save SOMETHING for the expansion.

I am a variety whore and that should explain it well enough.
yep, still have mine pre-ordered. what is funny is it will take 2-3 months just to learn/experience all that.

This was never about have nots.
you could fill books with the stuff this game will not have.
and besides I want the game more for DAOC 2 rather than warhammer

My question:
In DAoC it was not possible, to have characters in different realms on the same server (less realm-espionage).
How is it managed in WAR?
btw imho it is pretty lame to join a new game with a full guild, planned already in closed beta or a previuos game. Less socializing in a realm.

Same way. You cannot have an Order character and Destruction on the same server.
