Yep, about the same odds that Age of Mourning had and almost as good a chance as Dark and Light had at being the revolutionary mmo games that they promised to be as well.

I give Darkfall about a 10% chance of releasing as promised by end of 2008.

And I give Darkfall about a 2% chance of offering even half of its promised features at launch.
And the chances of Darkfall launching and succeeding? Less then 1/10th of 1%.
That's right, I say the odds of Darkfall releasing and actually succeeding in any way, shape, or form are about 1,000 to 1 against it. And trust me, that's giving Darkfall and Adventurine a LOT of credit for those odds to be that high.

You must also realize that, many companies have gone to say... E3 and GDC sporting their game with a release date later that same year and end up postponing the game another year or so. Spore is an example of this. We had been promised 2006. 2007. and finally assured 2008 after both EA and Maxis confirmed it. Dates can change, and as Darkfall has such a HUGE reputation for doing just that. If something on their budget doesn't go right... they will have no qualms or resistence delaying it again.
I gave up hope on Darkfall coming out a LONG time ago. To me it's like believing in bigfoot. It's fun to hope for it's existence, there have been sightings and rumors... but we've got no solid proof.. and every nut case who walks in a forest will tell you it exists. But you never know, we could just very well find it.

First, it DOES count. It suggests they had the game feature complete...and if you think they actually had to completely throw out an entire feature complete game than you're a damn fool.
Second, they've said every year (read: every) that beta was that year. Beta predates release, and each year they have failed to even provide that. To top that off, after 7 years they STILL can't manage to get a cam in there on the actual game running. I find this amazing, since many F2P games (which often are built on budgets FAR smaller than any undertaking such as this will require, and generally with just as few hands) offer a thousand times the information for their fans.
They have told their fans many lies....easily half of which are simple enough to prove. The other half I may as well CALL proven false....because common sense would dictate most of it to be retarded trash that people completely ignorant of how a PC even works might spout off to children in order to sound smart.

Tasos showed up at that Greek game developers conference with no game client, but rather a video that was over a year old and had already been posted on Youtube for over a year as well! He shows up with nothing but this old video and tells them that Darkfall has millions users and fans and a great reputation. A great reputation!?? 90% of anyone out there (outside these Darkfall forums) who knows anything about Darkfall looks at it the same way any sane person would.... As nothing but 100% VAPORWARE.
His goal now is to try and hype up all the fanboys and eventually ask for their money (trust me, he will) but right now, he is much more focused on trying to sale his total BS hype about this game to investors who will hand him millions.
In all liklihood, he will then try and make as much money as possible from the fans he has managed to keep mesmerized by his lies and empty promises. Then guess what people?? He will finally release this great game you've been so eagerly waiting so long on. And it will suck hard. Very hard. Most MMOs delay their release dates to finish and polish their games. That's certainly understood.
But then we have "Darkfall".

I've given plenty of reason for any fan of this game to give everything a second thought here. Instead of mindlessly just bashing me or calling me a troll or whatever, perhaps you could give me equal arguments as for the solid reasons as to why you think this game is NOT a scam, or an investment scam and why you think it is the real deal
But what you fail to understand is that it doesnt matter if they was suppose to release 2003 or said that beta should be at the end of the year 2005. We will have our hope for this game, until it's released, canceled or something better shows up. If they starting to collect creditcard numbers, then yes. Warn people. But until then, what the hell? In fact, my honest attempt here is to save you from heartbreak, major disappointment, and despair. My anger goes out to the corruption that I honestly believe is taking place with this game. I don't believe for one second that they even think they can make a game of this magnitude. After all this time, I see it as nothing more then nothing but hype, propaganda, and probably attempts to obtain investors cold hard cash.. and maybe you fans cash too. Warhammer Online and Age of Conan are overproduced games which have had to cut a lot of their features, because the kids want the chicken into the table on the very moment they hear it's in the oven or they start crying. That is a theory which has been proven with Darkfall.
It's for sure that in the beginning Aventurine/Razorwax overestimated their work power. Darkfall and its website was brought to the public way too early. Their PR, crowd control and estimation skills aren't the best, either. Remember what Funcom's first MMO, Anarchy Online was like in the development and the release?
Tasos has openly told their targets to the public (which have been bended to "official release dates" over the time here) and the PR has been very sparse, too. That doesn't make the game instantly a scam, though. Remember, the only time Tasos has stated an official beta release date is this year.
The game has been probably in full on production for about five or six years, that's not over the top for a game like this and a company as small as Aventurine, is it? EVE Online was in production for something like six years, as far as I know.
The game didn't enter closed beta five years ago, it was and inhouse beta. They're most likely not having a closed beta, they're having a bunch of professional testers doing the beta testing to the game. Like they've said, people treat beta nowadays as a long trial of the actual game and base their opinions off it. That is the reason they're going to have a few weeks of open "beta" before the release.
I doubt they're heading for a pre-order scam if they make statements like "you're not going to have pay anything at all to test the game". If the open beta opens someday, then, we will be able to judge the game with an actual base for the statements.
There has been an actual (by a fan, not by Aventurine) poll on the official Darkfall forums, which was considering paying for getting to beta or playing ahead of the release and most of the votes were "no". Most of the Darkfall community is very jaded and steep when it comes to things like this. As no fan has had to pay anything and no one has been hurt, there is no need to soothsay this game's destiny.

Yep, about the same odds that Age of Mourning had and almost as good a chance as Dark and Light had at being the revolutionary mmo games that they promised to be as well.

You must also realize that, many companies have gone to say... E3 and GDC sporting their game with a release date later that same year and end up postponing the game another year or so. Spore is an example of this. We had been promised 2006. 2007. and finally assured 2008 after both EA and Maxis confirmed it. Dates can change, and as Darkfall has such a HUGE reputation for doing just that. If something on their budget doesn't go right... they will have no qualms or resistence delaying it again.
I gave up hope on Darkfall coming out a LONG time ago. To me it's like believing in bigfoot. It's fun to hope for it's existence, there have been sightings and rumors... but we've got no solid proof.. and every nut case who walks in a forest will tell you it exists. But you never know, we could just very well find it.

First, it DOES count. It suggests they had the game feature complete...and if you think they actually had to completely throw out an entire feature complete game than you're a damn fool.
Second, they've said every year (read: every) that beta was that year. Beta predates release, and each year they have failed to even provide that. To top that off, after 7 years they STILL can't manage to get a cam in there on the actual game running. I find this amazing, since many F2P games (which often are built on budgets FAR smaller than any undertaking such as this will require, and generally with just as few hands) offer a thousand times the information for their fans.
They have told their fans many lies....easily half of which are simple enough to prove. The other half I may as well CALL proven false....because common sense would dictate most of it to be retarded trash that people completely ignorant of how a PC even works might spout off to children in order to sound smart.

Remember, Aventurine is specialist in been very imprecise. In some moments they really make me laugh, they like the sensasionalist journalist that write stuff like "Some people might had seen what probably was big foot walking somewhere, we will tell you soon more about it".
Again my position is that they are making something, that they may release it, we will see what it is. But for sure they had release few information and very imprecise.

- Adventurine has ZERO credibility. Zero. Show me proof of any thing, even the simplest 2D game they have ever programmed.
- Year after year, we have had nothing but LIES about an open beta starting "in a few months" or "by October" or "By end of this year" and year after year it has been nothing but empty shallow promises.
- After all this time, Tasos claims that the game is working with all features implemented and even tested and ready to go. Yet they can't play it for 60 seconds even and record some in game video of actual game play with a program like fraps.
I could go on and on...
Does it not occur to you that PERHAPS, just maybe PERHAPS the reason we have been waiting so long is actually because they are trying to get as much investment money as possible before finally releasing a broken game and trying to escape with Millions of dollars?
- They secured about 25 million in investment money back in 2007, but they still work with old beige towers and computers that look 10 years old? Saving all that money for the "great excape" perhaps?
- They still, in all this time, have not let ONE, not one respectable website, magazine, or even television show try out this "fully functional" game as Tasos says it is now. That doesn't strike you as odd at all? A game that has been in production for this long and of this magnitude that is going to re-shape the mmo gaming world... and they won't let anyone with any reputation see this working game?
I've given plenty of reason for any fan of this game to give everything a second thought here. Instead of mindlessly just bashing me or calling me a troll or whatever, perhaps you could give me equal arguments as for the solid reasons as to why you think this game is NOT a scam, or an investment scam and why you think it is the real deal.. and why you actually believe Tasos when he tells us now that the game is fully functional and tested with all the intended features.
But what you fail to understand is that it doesnt matter if they was suppose to release 2003 or said that beta should be at the end of the year 2005. We will have our hope for this game, until it's released, canceled or something better shows up. If they starting to collect creditcard numbers, then yes. Warn people. But until then, what the hell? What harm does it do if it has a long developcycle?
You can crusade with your opinion but doing it at a Darkfall forum is kinda pointless. We know what we want, how it's developed I've don't care.
And you and a few other really rides on those statements, saying everything is a lie because of their announcement. And they even appologist for it and said they wont give us a date until it's done. Fine don't accept it, but why even go on and on and on and on and on and on. Did those words make you feal so miserably that you're must crusade against it every day? No offence, but atleast think about it. Do you think that it is normal to spam hateposts on regular basis? I'm not saying it just you but the trolls in common.

Another FAIL at even attempting to give me something solid as to why you would actually believe anything about Darkfall or that Talos says after seeing so much information that I and others have given to you, pretty solid reasons that SHOULD atleast make you go "Hmmmm"
And to answer your question, I can only speak for myself. But trust me it is not the fans like yourself or anyone else here that I hate. In fact, my honest attempt here is to save you from heartbreak, major disappointment, and despair. My anger goes out to the corruption that I honestly believe is taking place with this game. I don't believe for one second that they even think they can make a game of this magnitude. After all this time, I see it as nothing more then nothing but hype, propaganda, and probably attempts to obtain investors cold hard cash.. and maybe you fans cash too. Corruption and lies and people who try and use other peoples dreams or needs as weaknesses to prey on them is what I hate. No telling how many fans have been caught up in this mysterious web of deceit, lies, and empty promises already. And in the end, all that will be left is shattered hopes, empty wallets (at least some investors wallets) and a broken game that never had a chance from the start.
Warhammer Online and Age of Conan are overproduced games which have had to cut a lot of their features, because the kids want the chicken into the table on the very moment they hear it's in the oven or they start crying. That is a theory which has been proven with Darkfall.
It's for sure that in the beginning Aventurine/Razorwax overestimated their work power. Darkfall and its website was brought to the public way too early. Their PR, crowd control and estimation skills aren't the best, either. Remember what Funcom's first MMO, Anarchy Online was like in the development and the release?
Tasos has openly told their targets to the public (which have been bended to "official release dates" over the time here) and the PR has been very sparse, too. That doesn't make the game instantly a scam, though. Remember, the only time Tasos has stated an official beta release date is this year.
The game has been probably in full on production for about five or six years, that's not over the top for a game like this and a company as small as Aventurine, is it? EVE Online was in production for something like six years, as far as I know.
The game didn't enter closed beta five years ago, it was and inhouse beta. They're most likely not having a closed beta, they're having a bunch of professional testers doing the beta testing to the game. Like they've said, people treat beta nowadays as a long trial of the actual game and base their opinions off it. That is the reason they're going to have a few weeks of open "beta" before the release.
I doubt they're heading for a pre-order scam if they make statements like "you're not going to have pay anything at all to test the game". If the open beta opens someday, then, we will be able to judge the game with an actual base for the statements.
There has been an actual (by a fan, not by Aventurine) poll on the official Darkfall forums, which was considering paying for getting to beta or playing ahead of the release and most of the votes were "no". Most of the Darkfall community is very jaded and steep when it comes to things like this. As no fan has had to pay anything and no one has been hurt, there is no need to soothsay this game's destiny.
