I am not sure that the interview improves a whole lot for me. It definately adds another piece of evidence, for me, that this game will probably atleast release. Does not, of course, say much about how that release will go. I am still definately hoping for the best. I will save that judgement until people are playing the game in beta/release. I won't believe gamer sites/mags interviews for this either. Or even videos.
I guess the fellow could be lying. Much like the others who have written first hand accounts. I think it's just growing to large to be a conspiracy theory. Just my thinking though.
Well, I can't comment on what this poster saw or didn't see, since I wasn't there, but I can certainly can say what I thought of the post itself.
After reading most of Tasos' posts over the past year, you pick up on his writing style. Lots of odd usage of the language, and sentences that don't quite make sense in English. I've written this off to him being Greek, or whatever, and that it's simply the way he writes.
However, I detected the same language oddities in both Asp's and this current post. Long run-on sentences, curious grammar, and the like. Almost like someone is trying very hard to imitate how they think a young, excitable boy might explain something.
This post had the addition of lots of swearing, again, seemingly in the attempt to sound "young." To me, it reminds me of a parent trying to talk to his 15-year-old son, by "being one of the guys" and cursing left and right.
Then the added detail of the "horrible wife", throwing some kind of tantrum. Another device used to make it all seem super-really-REAL or something.
But the most egregious mistake the ghost-writer of this post made is the following. If this poster really joined in 2003, and has been around that long, then they would know that the single most important information that all Forumfallers are looking for is detail. Not rambling, not omg-omg-omg, not "my wife was nagging me", and certainly not a rehash of all currently available public information.
You were there for two hours, and this is really the best you could come up with? Right.
No, it doesn't matter if I'm right or wrong, because eventually we'll all know the truth. I don't consider myself a fanboi or a troll. But I really hate being deceived. And that post has deception written all over it.
Oh, look. Another nobody supposedly saw the game. This is really getting old. It's not even laughable any more.

They will allow random people into their secret world and allow to them to talk all about it, yet they wont allow any credible websites to visit or do a review now or get some info? - Doesn't that strike you as a little odd?
Just wait a few more days...some 'official' press-releases/interviews are scheduled for August, beginning with the Gameworld online interview
Oh boy. Another interview. I can hardly wait to hear all about how great this game is some more and how it will revolutionize PC gaming, etc etc.
This is ridiculous. You people are eating this stuff up like a wolf laying a trail of candy to children.
I can't wait until Adventurine asks for credit card information and money online before the people even play the game for one minute. Then we'll see how many fans here go from their story now of how they'd never pay ahead and how Adventurine would "never" do that to all the posts later of getting ripped off.
Dig out the old Dark and Light and Mourning threads. It's all coming to a Darkfall thread near you!
I thought you liked D & L
"Okay, first off let me tell you that I agree that EQ2 is nothing but crap.
I havent played WOW yet but I have been playing the beta of Dark and Light for about 3 months now. I can't release much info on the game as it is still in beta, but here's just a clue:
EQ2 even after its release doesn't even come close to the sheer gaming quality of the beta of Dark and Light. The game is running very smooth already and only after big changes do some things get a little buggy or choppy. Then they fix it like within the hour.
The fighting and character animations in Dark and Light are beyond belief. Smooth, fun to watch and varying attacks are a sore for tired same ol mmo eyes. What I mean is if you do a certain type of attack one time, the next ten times you do the same attack, the animations can change every single time on the same exact attack!
The world is so huge and beautiful and fun to explore it adds a whole new element never before seen in any mmo before. Trust me, you will actually want to go explore and discover this world. And doing so by dragon is unbelievable.
Dark and Light isn't another treadmill mmo. The devs actually care about putting out not only the biggest mmo ever, but also want to put out the best quality mmo ever. And it is very close to completion. Expect the best fanstasy mmo ever made when Dark and Light hits the stores. You won't be disappointed. Trust me it puts every other mmo to shame, and is going to set the new standard that all other future mmos will be measured by. This is no hype, this game is going to redifine the definition of an mmo. Prepare for the biggest addiction of your life should you buy it. If you loved any of the following games [Ultima Online, Everquest 1, Asherons Call 1, Meridian 59, or Dark Age of Camelot] - I swear you will love DnL with a passion you've been waiting to feel again for an mmo."
You pulled up a 4 year old post for what, to say he was a Darkfall fan? Did you notice that was when the game was still in beta, before everything hit the fanblades? Seems to me Galadourn is simply putting to use the logic that having been through the DnL experience bestows. And I see a pretty good parallel between Galadourn in that 4 year old post, and the Darkfall fanbois here. Perhaps you all better examine the lesson learned a little closer.

I don't know where you get your info on Tasos' writing style or English - I've always found his style to be curt and to the point, and his English to be excellent.
It's kinda weak to declare Yellowbeard's write-up as fake purely on the language used IMO.

"I think you guys need to realize a few of things.
Sure a lot of this was covered in some dev journals and scattered throughout the searches. I had things I wanted to see and that's why I went there. I wanted to see first hand if what they said was true. From everything I saw I was more than pleased. I never intended to post the write up here but since I have been reading these forums for years I figured I would. I went over this in IRC/Vent to most the major power guilds where I know a lot of people and we have civilized conversations with feedback.
I did misuse a word by saying instance instead of zone. You would think I committed a fucking murder by the way some of you guys act. It's no wonder the devs never want to post in here with all the flaming and hate around.
I never post on these forums because of all the bashing and immature shit that goes on here. There are some descent threads that do come through but it's not like I haven't been following the game or reading the forums on a daily basis (for years I might add). If you think posting to just get my numbers high or answering silly polls makes me a super gamer, I guess I'm not by your standards.
It comes down to this. Before I went there it all most of us knew were things that could possibly be in a game from videos or write ups. After I left I know what I saw and had answers to questions that I could squeeze in a 2 hour time frame along with touring the place."

The excerpt you included only makes my point for me. Anyone who has supposedly been reading the Darkfall forums for any length of time should know exactly what kind of response they'd get from such a vague post. They will (and should) get flamed to hell and back. Tasos is the master of the vague statement. That post is full of them. And 1+1 generally equals 2.
And so this random guy, who supposedly hates the forums because of "...bashing and immature shit...", yet somehow feels obligated to go on an epic quest to get inside Aventurine, while at the same time sidetracking his vacation and pissing off his alleged wife in the process? And then posting his report on the same forums he hates?

Seems like someone who wanted to paint the game in a positive manner would use fewer f-bombs and s-bombs...including Tasos. But, whatever. I think I get more enjoyment out of reading the various DF forums than I'll actually get from playing the game.

If the moderators on the official forums didn't talk like that also, that statement might have merit. Unfortunately, a great number ( not all ) of the people over there, including staff, have the vocabulary skills of sixth grade boys. And they wonder why people get a rotten impression of the "community" there.

That's not true and you know it, doubly so in regard to the staff.
As for forumfallers a small minority are flamers, in the same way a small number of mmorpg.com members are tin-foil hat wearers, but Forumfall has a different culture (as does every forum) and is made up of stab-you-in-the-back-loot-you-naked-and-urinate-on-your-corpse PvPers who can both dish it out and take it on the chin in return.
Once you get used to the culture and learn how to interpret posts (much of the flaming is tongue-in-cheek) it's actually a very intelligent and constructive forum.
Unlike mmorpg.com, they don't tolerate trolls though.
Since they let nobodies in why dont the big dogs send some guys over to see the game? Riiight.
Might have been believable if there wasnt so much language and ofcourse the classic excuse of " nagging wife " . Tasos needs to come up with new material.. Also wanring the guy about posting about the visit? Yea. The points to the obvious of it being staged.

It comes down to this. Before I went there it all most of us knew were things that could possibly be in a game from videos or write ups. After I left I know what I saw and had answers to questions that I could squeeze in a 2 hour time frame along with touring the place."
And after he went, that's all most of us still know: shit talked in write ups.
There were some new nuggets in there, as well as in his responses to questions from Forumfallers.
Sure, just like there were "nuggets" in the write up by Asp, the first nobody. Again, it's all words by people noone has ever even heard of.
And I've never heard of you so I can dismiss everything you say.
/sarcasm
If I was to tell you that Aventurine didn't exist, but didn't show you anything more than my words typed on a forum to prove it, you'd have every right to dismiss me.
And when the only proof I keep seeing offered of Darkfalls existance from the general public consists of nothing more than words typed on a forum, I dismiss it.
Real info, from real big name gaming sites known in more than one country ( leaves Gameworld.gr out ). Outside of that, it's not proof.
I don't know where you get your info on Tasos' writing style or English - I've always found his style to be curt and to the point, and his English to be excellent.
It's kinda weak to declare Yellowbeard's write-up as fake purely on the language used IMO.
Anyway, from Forumfall -
"I think you guys need to realize a few of things.
No. Just, no.
He frequents forums where he can discuss and enjoy the concept that is DF , nothing wrong with that. He has posted for people who want to hear what he has to say and also to take the proverbial out of all the trolls to see you all crawl which you seem to be acheiving.
Well done Yellow for the write up and well done , he posted for a reason ... he hates the trash talk in the forums lets get it right. He wants to see the haters crying and they are well done Yellobeard we salute you.

Buuut, at least some more stuff to think about. That's positive.

All of the things you listed aren't THAT big:
Screenshots: Plenty of games have had them and turned out to be vaporware.
Videos: Yeah, aa couple crappy videos hardly showing anything. Not to mention that new video which was promised a month or so ago....still people waiting for that..
Also, what about all of this naval ship battles, 200v200, etc. Where the HELL is the proof? Words mean nothing, and then words become crap if they are coming from Tasos' mouth. They can type up all of the features they could think of, it doesn't prove anything. All of these high claims have not been proven 6 MONTHS FROM RELEASE. If, say, DF wasn't being released in another year/year and a half and hasn't been in development for sever years, this wouldn't be an issue.
Publishing deal: Several games have had publishers and have ended up vaporware.
Womangamers: They were carried AWAY from the computers & DF and just had an interview. No playing, just an interview----more words.
Random fansd that visit their studios: More words. The guy who wrote this post is pretty much saying the same thing as Asp, giving high praises to the game and all. For some reason, Adventurine hates interviewers and loves random fans that call their office, still 6 months from release.
It's 6 months from release....really..They can't prove ANY od their claims. IF DF hadn't been in development for seven years, this wouldn't be a problem. IF Adventurine hadn't been saying the same lies over and over, this wouldn't have been a problem. IF DF wasn't going to hit the shelves in 6 months, this wouldn't be a problem.
It's time for Darkfall to prove all of their claims, words mean nothing anymore.

Yes, and these vaporware games employed developers who breathed oxygen!

EVERY game in development produces screenshots, not just the vaporware titles. Your logic is flawed there.
Videos: Yeah, aa couple crappy videos hardly showing anything. Not to mention that new video which was promised a month or so ago....still people waiting for that..
The videos are specific. The location video showed Darkfall locations like racial and clan cities. The battle video showed PvP battles, spells, melee, ship-to-ship combat etc. The two mount videos showed off two of the racial mounts.
As for the coming video, it supposed to be due in August sometime. Why are you so eager to see it? A secret Darkfall fan perhaps? Just be patient like the rest of us.
Also, what about all of this naval ship battles,
They've already shown that. At least watch the videos before claiming that x and y are not in the game.
200v200, etc. Where the HELL is the proof?
Prof will come with the open beta before the release later this year. You can wait six months (at the most) can't you?
Words mean nothing, and then words become crap if they are coming from Tasos' mouth. They can type up all of the features they could think of, it doesn't prove anything.
Nothing can prove that Darkfall exists to the vaporcallers. No amount of videos. No amount of visits by anyone. The vaporcallers just call everything Darkfall related 'faked'. If the pope himself playtested Darkfall and then swore on the bible that the game existed and was feature complete, the vaporcallers would STILL claim that Darkfall does not exist and that the pope was either fake himself and was just Tasos in disguise .
The same could be said for your mmo game as well. Citadel of Sorcery? It's not even on mmorpg.com! And whats with it having the same initials of Chronicles of Spellborn?
[sarcasm] Fake [/sarcasm]
All of these high claims have not been proven 6 MONTHS FROM RELEASE. If, say, DF wasn't being released in another year/year and a half and hasn't been in development for sever years, this wouldn't be an issue.
Aventurine obviously have a very different PR philosophy to Funcon. They also have much less in the way of resources. If the game is going to release within six months - thus proving it exists - doesn't that make your point moot?
They can prove all their claims with the release.

Silly me.
The guy who wrote this post is pretty much saying the same thing as Asp,
Two fans are shown around the same Aventurine studios by the same people and get to play the same game.
Their experiences are not going to be massively different, are they?
BOTH write ups DID reveal some interesting nuggets of information.
giving high praises to the game and all.
That's because Darkfall is the greatest game ever conceived by the mind of mankind! [/fanboy-roleplay]
For some reason, Adventurine hates interviewers and loves random fans that call their office, still 6 months from release.
They had that womangamers reporter and a couple of recent media interviews that have not been published yet. Again, patience.
It's 6 months from release....really..They can't prove ANY od their claims.
They will prove their claims with release. NOTHING ELSE will silence the vaporcallers. They could release a hundred videos between now and December and (some of) the mmorpg.com inhabitants would STILL claim that they were all faked, that Aventurine doesn't exist, that there's nothing to show after 5 years and that it's all just a scam.
IF DF hadn't been in development for seven years, this wouldn't be a problem.
Darkfall is a big game by a small developer, who by the sounds of it will not release Darkfall unfinished and requiring a year of extra work like Funcon did with AoC.
Patience. Waiting costs you nothing.
IF Adventurine hadn't been saying the same lies over and over,
They've never lied.

Why do they need to prove anything to the vaporcallers? They have a big following. This following is awaiting beta and release later this year. The beta and release will either prove or disprove the claims - for good - within the next six months.
They don't need to 'prove' anything to the doubters when ultimate proof is just around the corner.

Hilarious....
..no really.
/sarcasm!
EVERY game in development produces screenshots, not just the vaporware titles. Your logic is flawed there.
No, I am saying that even if games produce screenshots there is a possibility that the game can be vaporware.
In all honesty, it wasn't much. It showed a bit of it, but I still want to see it more detailed. If they came out with a 2minute video each 2 weeks showing more scenes and going into detail (like what SGW has done with combat) then I would be happy.
They show little specks of these things, but never ever go into detail (if you unterstand my point). Once again though, if DF didn't have such huge claims it wouldn't be nearly as big as a deal.
As for the coming video, it supposed to be due in August sometime. Why are you so eager to see it? A secret Darkfall fan perhaps? Just be patient like the rest of us.
Of course I'm a fan of the concept. If this game releases with all of its features, then I promise I'd be right behind you in line ready to buy Darkfall. This is no secret...most of the naysayers here love the concept, but are very skeptic (as they should be).
Also, what about all of this naval ship battles,
They've already shown that. At least watch the videos before claiming that x and y are not in the game.

200v200, etc. Where the HELL is the proof?

Pretty much 5 months now.
Listen, if a respectable website (ie, Warcry, MMORPG.com, etc) went in there and said "The game is feature complete and is looking great" I would have more confidence. Would I still be worried, since they haven't had a beta yet in 5 months? Sure, but I would have more hope.
The same could be said for your mmo game as well. Citadel of Sorcery? It's not even on mmorpg.com! And whats with it having the same initials of Chronicles of Spellborn?
Hmm, people bringing out my game seems to be happening a lot more lately. Anyways...
Firstly, Citadel of Sorcery IS on MMORPG.com, what site are you on? imaginarymmorpg.com/darkfallisreal ?
Secondly, the same could NOT be said about CoS. It has been in development for three years, and is NOT releasing in six months. They are not showing any videos until the graphics' revamp is complete in around 8 months (give or take a few).
Thirdly, the fact that they have the same initials doesn't mean anything...you should even know that. Anlantica Online and Anarchy Online have the same initials, no big deal.
I just believe that they should at least prove some of their features to their fans. People have waiting on this game for years, but even 6 months from release they refuse to prove anything? Just doesn't go well with me.
Wouldn't you at least like take a view at all of these great claims before the next couple months.
They can prove all their claims with the release.
Publishing deal: Several games have had publishers and have ended up vaporware.
Several games with publishers have also released. Again you are using flawed logic.
Again you miss the point. I was pointing out that it is possible for games to have pyublishers but still turn out vaporware (not nearly as likely).
Womangamers: They were carried AWAY from the computers & DF and just had an interview. No playing, just an interview----more words.
But others HAVE played the game.
But why it is never a more respectable source is beyond me.
Random fansd that visit their studios: More words.
Fans that visited, played the game and then related their experiences to Forumfall.
No ... wait ... all the fans are fake! Tasos made them out of sticks and mashed potato!
Silly me.
Still, I am still failing to see why they don't allow other big gaming places to actually play their game. I amctually am skeptic of the fact thatthe only people who have played their game is a few fans. It's a possibility, and they may be telling the truth, but I would like a non-biased review.
BTW, AmazingAvery had played AoC had enjoyed it greatly...see how incomplete AOC was? Just something to think about.
The guy who wrote this post is pretty much saying the same thing as Asp,

For some reason, Adventurine hates interviewers and loves random fans that call their office, still 6 months from release.

There are a couple coming out this month, should be interesting to see. Although I waas going into the aspect of people who have played this game.

Pfft, if they showed me a two minute 200v200 seiges video then I would NEVER question that again.
IF DF hadn't been in development for seven years, this wouldn't be a problem.
Darkfall is a big game by a small developer, who by the sounds of it will not release Darkfall unfinished and requiring a year of extra work like Funcon did with AoC.

I undertsnad the small company, and I respect that, but it's just the flase lead ons for beta over the years (it's in these forums somewhere)....the lack of proof, it just makes me doubt.

They don't need to 'prove' anything to the doubters when ultimate proof is just around the corner.
Waiting costs you nothing.

Anyway, from Forumfall -
"I think you guys need to realize a few of things.

No. Just, no.

Sure, just like there were "nuggets" in the write up by Asp, the first nobody. Again, it's all words by people noone has ever even heard of.

/yawn
More of the same of the past several years.

Don't you think it's time to leave : D
Uh, not really. The only game I can think of that had absolutely no zoning was Vanguard, and that had horrible performance issues for a while.
Almost every MMO I know of has tons of zoning, in fact, AoC, which is supposed to have amazing tech, has zoning more than most.
Darkfall's world will be absolutely massive and yet only the dungeons are zoned? Sounds good.
Darkfall Travelogues!
So....interesting read.
But I can't help and agree with people who are wondering how it's possible for Aventurine to be SOOOO busy making their game that they can't even make a video/presentation of features....yet they can take invite a random guy and tour him through their offices and chat with him.
Buuut, at least some more stuff to think about. That's positive.

2 hours they could have spent making a video-clip.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7

All of the things you listed aren't THAT big:
Big enough to prove that there is a game is in development.
Screenshots: Plenty of games have had them and turned out to be vaporware.
Yes, and these vaporware games employed developers who breathed oxygen!
/sarcasm
Publishing deal: Several games have had publishers and have ended up vaporware.
Several games with publishers have also released. Again you are using flawed logic.
Womangamers: They were carried AWAY from the computers & DF and just had an interview. No playing, just an interview----more words.
But others HAVE played the game.
Random fansd that visit their studios: More words.
Fans that visited, played the game and then related their experiences to Forumfall.
No ... wait ... all the fans are fake! Tasos made them out of sticks and mashed potato!
IF Adventurine hadn't been saying the same lies over and over,
They've never lied.
this wouldn't have been a problem. IF DF wasn't going to hit the shelves in 6 months, this wouldn't be a problem.
Once it hits the shelves it will no longer BE a problem.
It's time for Darkfall to prove all of their claims, words mean nothing anymore.
Why do they need to prove anything to the vaporcallers? They have a big following. This following is awaiting beta and release later this year. The beta and release will either prove or disprove the claims - for good - within the next six months.
They don't need to 'prove' anything to the doubters when ultimate proof is just around the corner.
Waiting costs you nothing.

Hilarious....
..no really.
/sarcasm!
EVERY game in development produces screenshots, not just the vaporware titles. Your logic is flawed there.
No, I am saying that even if games produce screenshots there is a possibility that the game can be vaporware.

Words mean nothing, and then words become crap if they are coming from Tasos' mouth. They can type up all of the features they could think of, it doesn't prove anything.

[sarcasm] Fake [/sarcasm]

True, DF would be great with release if it had all of those features....nobody could deny that.
For some reason, Adventurine hates interviewers and loves random fans that call their office, still 6 months from release.
They had that womangamers reporter and a couple of recent media interviews that have not been published yet. Again, patience.
There are a couple coming out this month, should be interesting to see. Although I waas going into the aspect of people who have played this game.
It's 6 months from release....really..They can't prove ANY od their claims.
They will prove their claims with release. NOTHING ELSE will silence the vaporcallers.
Patience. Waiting costs you nothing.
I undertsnad the small company, and I respect that, but it's just the flase lead ons for beta over the years (it's in these forums somewhere)....the lack of proof, it just makes me doubt.
IF Adventurine hadn't been saying the same lies over and over,
They've never lied.
this wouldn't have been a problem. IF DF wasn't going to hit the shelves in 6 months, this wouldn't be a problem.
