    Untrue. They could do a lot of things. You know, the normal stuff like releasing actual gameplay video, allowing media sources to see the alpha, starting a closed beta, etc., etc.

     

    I hope this game turns out to be something, because I like the spirit behind it, but anyone who isn't very suspicious of its being vaporware is just being naive.

    Well said, exact same train of thought Ive been on. Love to see them live up to their promises, but Im not holding my breath.

    All of the things you listed aren't THAT big:
    Big enough to prove that there is a game is in development.
    Screenshots:  Plenty of games have had them and turned out to be vaporware.
    Yes, and these vaporware games employed developers who breathed oxygen!

    No, I am saying that even if games produce screenshots there is a possibility that the game can be vaporware.

    Videos:  Yeah, aa couple crappy videos hardly showing anything.  Not to mention that new video which was promised a month or so ago....still people waiting for that..
    The videos are specific. The location video showed Darkfall locations like racial and clan cities. The battle video showed PvP battles, spells, melee, ship-to-ship combat etc. The two mount videos showed off two of the racial mounts.


     

    In all honesty, it wasn't much.  It showed a bit of it, but I still want to see it more detailed.  If they came out with a 2minute video each 2 weeks showing more scenes and going into detail (like what SGW has done with combat) then I would be happy. 

     

    They show little specks of these things, but never ever go into detail (if you unterstand my point).  Once again though, if DF didn't have such huge claims it wouldn't be nearly as big as a deal.

    As for the coming video, it supposed to be due in August sometime. Why are you so eager to see it? A secret Darkfall fan perhaps? Just be patient like the rest of us.
     

    Of course I'm a fan of the concept.  If this game releases with all of its features, then I promise I'd be right behind you in line ready to buy Darkfall.  This is no secret...most of the naysayers here love the concept, but are very skeptic (as they should be).

    Also, what about all of this naval ship battles,
    They've already shown that. At least watch the videos before claiming that x and y are not in the game.

    Prof will come with the open beta before the release later this year. You can wait six months (at the most) can't you?

    Words mean nothing, and then words become crap if they are coming from Tasos' mouth.  They can type up all of the features they could think of, it doesn't prove anything.
    Nothing can prove that Darkfall exists to the vaporcallers. No amount of videos. No amount of visits by anyone. The vaporcallers just call everything Darkfall related 'faked'. If the pope himself playtested Darkfall and then swore on the bible that the game existed and was feature complete, the vaporcallers would STILL claim that Darkfall does not exist and that the pope was either fake himself and was just Tasos in disguise .


     

    Listen, if a respectable website (ie, Warcry, MMORPG.com, etc) went in there and said "The game is feature complete and is looking great" I would have more confidence.  Would I still be worried, since they haven't had a beta yet in 5 months?  Sure, but I would have more hope.

    The same could be said for your mmo game as well. Citadel of Sorcery? It's not even on mmorpg.com! And whats with it having the same initials of Chronicles of Spellborn?


     

    Hmm, people bringing out my game seems to be happening a lot more lately.  Anyways...

     

    Firstly, Citadel of Sorcery IS on MMORPG.com, what site are you on?  imaginarymmorpg.com/darkfallisreal ?

     

    Secondly, the same could NOT be said about CoS.  It has been in development for three years, and is NOT releasing in six months.  They are not showing any videos until the graphics' revamp is complete in around 8 months (give or take a few). 

     

    Thirdly, the fact that they have the same initials doesn't mean anything...you should even know that.  Anlantica Online and Anarchy Online have the same initials, no big deal.

    All of these high claims have not been proven 6 MONTHS FROM RELEASE.  If, say, DF wasn't being released in another year/year and a half and hasn't been in development for sever years, this wouldn't be an issue.
    Aventurine obviously have a very different PR philosophy to Funcon. They also have much less in the way of resources. If the game is going to release within six months - thus proving it exists - doesn't that make your point moot?


     

    I just believe that they should at least prove some of their features to their fans.  People have waiting on this game for years, but even 6 months from release they refuse to prove anything?  Just doesn't go well with me. 

     

    Wouldn't you at least like take a view at all of these great claims before the next couple months.

    Publishing deal:  Several games have had publishers and have ended up vaporware.
    Several games with publishers have also released. Again you are using flawed logic.
     

    Again you miss the point.  I was pointing out that it is possible for games to have pyublishers but still turn out vaporware (not nearly as likely).

    Womangamers:  They were carried AWAY from the computers & DF and just had an interview.  No playing, just an interview----more words. 
    But others HAVE played the game.
     

    But why it is never a more respectable source is beyond me.

    Random fansd that visit their studios:  More words.
    Fans that visited, played the game and then related their experiences to Forumfall.
    No ... wait ... all the fans are fake! Tasos made them out of sticks and mashed potato!

    Still, I am still failing to see why they don't allow other big gaming places to actually play their game.  I amctually am skeptic of the fact thatthe only people who have played their game is a few fans.  It's a possibility, and they may be telling the truth, but I would like a non-biased review.

     

    BTW, AmazingAvery had played AoC had enjoyed it greatly...see how incomplete AOC was?  Just something to think about.

    The guy who wrote this post is pretty much saying the same thing as Asp,
    Two fans are shown around the same Aventurine studios by the same people and get to play the same game.


    Their experiences are not going to be massively different, are they?

    For some reason, Adventurine hates interviewers and loves random fans that call their office, still 6 months from release.
    They had that womangamers reporter and a couple of recent media interviews that have not been published yet. Again, patience.
     

    There are a couple coming out this month, should be interesting to see.  Although I waas going into the aspect of people who have played this game.

    It's 6 months from release....really..They can't prove ANY od their claims.
    They will prove their claims with release. NOTHING ELSE will silence the vaporcallers. They could release a hundred videos between now and December and (some of) the mmorpg.com inhabitants would STILL claim that they were all faked, that Aventurine doesn't exist, that there's nothing to show after 5 years and that it's all just a scam.
     

    Pfft, if they showed me a two minute 200v200 seiges video then I would NEVER question that again.

    IF DF hadn't been in development for seven years, this wouldn't be a problem.
    Darkfall is a big game by a small developer, who by the sounds of it will not release Darkfall unfinished and requiring a year of extra work like Funcon did with AoC.

    I undertsnad the small company, and I respect that, but it's just the flase lead ons for beta over the years (it's in these forums somewhere)....the lack of proof, it just makes me doubt.

    Why do they need to prove anything to the vaporcallers? They have a big following. This following is awaiting beta and release later this year. The beta and release will either prove or disprove the claims - for good - within the next six months.


    They don't need to 'prove' anything to the doubters when ultimate proof is just around the corner.

    I am not calling anyone a liar except Aventurine, so who is that "him"? Alledgedly Aventurine is a 20 man company.

    I honestly think those pictures is prove enough this game don't exist.

    Their excuse, "we don't need to", "we don't have to". Why wouldn't they want super attention for their mmo? If it is feature complete as they claim, why is real media not seeing it? They keep saying beta soon, media will see it soon, blah blah. It takes also only 10 minutes to grab a video. Why not hype the game when they potentially can make millions of $ if everything they say is true. Why make empty promises and indeed look like the whole company is a hoax?

    In seven years we haven't seen a real video with ui, combat, active players.

    Brace yourselves for all the excuses, "oh we have to postpone", "due to our internal testing we have to wait two or three months", "we are too busy right now"...

     

    Truth about mmos is that it is a huge undertaking and since DF is restarting over and over whenever their "engine" becomes old, how can they have a feature complete mmo? Funcom with a huge team in both Asia and Europe couldn't produce a finished game. Neither could pretty much every other mmo at launch. Funcom is an example of such a mess.

    You believe Aventurine can make such a huge mmo with all these features??

    You want to believe in this game. Fine with me. Just don't come parading in here and say that the game is legit when they have nothing to show for it. I made several points about this, but you don't address those. Nobody can. Not in a sensible, meaningful way.

    If they had a feature complete mmo they would be rushing to show it off, grab some videos. They don't do that. So question remains: What are they hiding?

    Neither does trying to fool people with a bottomless supply of PR. I was 23 when I first heard about DF being in development, now Im damn near 31, and still nothing......

    Not believing a game company that has never done anything before, who don't care to prove they exist, who for seven years do not show their game publicly, who mainly has textual writeups that promises tons of features, who claim to have the holy grail of an mmo, who says they dont NEED to show anything of their game, whose idea of proof is some anonymous visitor posting 2 pictures of a sticker on an office door and one picture of four random dudes.

    Common sense =

    to take a critical stance and not believe everything people say, but sift through information and make up your own mind.

    im nautral on it until i get to play the game with out paying anything.(smartest thing.) now if they went back on there word like dnl did then i would be worried) makes since dont it.

    -Changeable worlds

    Theyve gone back on what theyve said a plethora of times, how many times have they pushed back beta testing?
