Thats 90 days. All MMORPGs have their growing pains, 3 months is nothing.
You can't look at WoW and just say "I want my game to be that polished out of the gate." I've seen plenty of threads where folks talked about how bad WoW was during its first year.
I can totally understand that there are people who don't like AoC. But posting another thread about the "End" of a major MMORPG after only 3 months seems excessive.
WoW's server issues were all fixed within 3 months, Blizzard gave out tons of free time and apologized a lot. LoTRO had much more added in content in 3 months. Fuck, even Vanguard was doing better once SOE got its hands on it (maybe not 3 months, closer to 4?)
3 months is a lot of time to where they haven't really fixed A SINGLE FUCKING IMPORTANT THING. I don't give a shit if these mobs are naked now or if this guy's spelling was corrected. The PvP patch or PvP levels that were supposed to be IN LAUNCH are still not here. The memory leak which they've claimed to "cure" 3 times now IS WORSE THEN EVER. Stats, while they kinda-sorta work, are still fucking useless. Sieges still lag the fuck out of people, Raid content is still bugged beyond belief and you really can not raid past T1 (if that) without encountering bugs in which they make the raid near impossible.
*inhales deeply*
They still have not added in any content from levels 50-80. The only thing they did was update Black Castle (who gives a fuck about a lvl 30 place) and updated the Pyramid (lvl 30, who cares?). They have no clue about class balance, as the Dark Templars are still fucking useless and the one shoting is extreme. Even the most simple of issues to fix (a loot table issue in which players could get upwards of 4-5 epics an hour) took Funcom 3 days to hotfix, allowing players to destroy the already shattered economy with cheap epics.
Mounted combat is a buggy piece of shit that is not near what they hyped, in fact if you try and fight on your mount you're a retard because you actually gimp yourself for doing it.
And aside from all of this there are still numerous graphical issues which I am amazed got past the alpha of the game.
Oh, and DX10 which was supposed to be in game at launch is still not in game and IIRC is slated for a 2009 release. They actually had the balls to put on the back of the game "Optimized for DX10" when they are clearly lying.
And speaking of that, the minimum/recommended specs are bull.
That is all that is wrong with the game and what they have not fixed. Even the female attack speed they ended up making a worse mess of by making males attack slower, nerfing it instead of just fixing the problem.
Funcom has had plenty of time and the only thing they can do is put out lowbie content. You know why? Because guess what reviewers are going to play first!
Phew, that was a hell of a rant.
Funcom's practices really have been shamfeful. I feel bad myself, I really had faith in Funcom before launch, I thought AoC would become a good game. I told people to wait when it launched for the game to get better, but it has not really improved much at all. People seem to say that its problems are blown out of proportion on the forums, but there is a reason why the forums are filled with negativity.
This is just disgusting. Funcom is driving their playerbase and their game down into the ground. And youre totally right, they worked extra hard on the 1-20 levels because thats what the reviewers were going to review. Thats why you see shining reviews of the game because reviewers do not take the time to review the entire game, levels 1-80.
Real shady business practices, Funcom gets a two thumbs down in my book. These guys are much worse than SOE and I daresay they are looking alot like Farlan. (The company who made Dark and Light, the biggest MMO failure to date).
I want to point out that most people complaining about threads being deleted on the AoC forums, are people who's threads have been deleted. Sadly, they don't know how a forum is run. I doubt any deletion power is given to any of these "volunteer" mods. Most likely, the threads are being "soft" deleted, and moved to a place where they can be reviewed by people who can actually delete posts. I have looked around the forums of Age of Conan, and see nothing wrong with what they are doing. People seriously need to get a grip, and learn how to post. You can easily post negative threads that have some substance to them. Threads that start off in CAPS, use certain ways to get around the cuss word censor, or are one liners should always be deleted. Anything pertaining to politics, racism are deleted also. Anything that revolves around bashing a moderator or peoples names in reference, as an example, "Famine sucks", or "@Vichen", will get a delete. Now that's not to say they are not in the wrong. One or two of their mods in particular, talk way to much for being a moderator.
I think in the end, peeple just skip reading the guidelines, and think whatever they post shouldnt be removed. They think 15$ a month is enough to freely deface that said company. If anyone read the subscription article Mark jacobs posted, he noted that 15$ a month barely pays for the servers being up and salarys. Not alot of profit is given out unless the sub numbers are substantial, in Blizzards case. Therefore thinking your $15 means you can go on a forums board of a company and say whatever, is stupid. Your 15$ garners you playtime and customer support. Forums are a bonus. Most companies should just quit putting up forums. They used to be a form of information, but now they have turned into a debacle of forums demanders, cryers, and people who think there 15$ means more than 15$. Age of Conan is at no lost. It will be around for quite sometime, regardless of how many people you try to get to cancel. This is not Jerry Mcguire.
Sadly I love reading the forums, because it shows how sad people can really get. I am sure most will read this as a wall of text, or w/e. I'm sure some will even flame me stating, NO WAY! I'm sure the OP will come in and say, did you see the links of threads being deleted. But sadly you would fail in one thing. READING. You did not read me type moderators cannot delete topics. Only move them to be seen by the appropriate people then deleted. You want to get mad because your topic was deleted, then make a better topic. The rules are right there, try following them. And let's be honest, these same people are the ones who don't read the rules of the road either. And bypass road signs stating 35mph and do 50.

I have read everything you said, but what you are talking about does not apply about the Orwellian censorship levels of the AOC forums, Myself and others have actually copy pasted threads and posts that were deleted that contained nothing against the social guidelines, and weren't in any way trolling or flamebait.
The reality is that the MORE rational, MORE well-argued, MORE well-evidenced your criticism was, the MORE likely it was to be deleted, if it criticised the lack of launch features
Like this guy's feedback about the siege he had done, deleted purely for the reason that it was embarrassing to show that sieges were completely non-functional 4 weeks after launch on the front page of the AOC general forum.
I would defy you to find anything wrong with this pure feedback post, I actually copied it because I wanted to show guildies that we didn't need to rush to BK:

Default Another (2) Siege Reports, as a Feedback to FC
2 days ago, and yesterday, we went Sieging some other Battlekeeps, which were available on the time basis.
First, let me talk about the first one. The battlekeep was located at Lacheish Plains BK zone, NE. I'll use spacing often to keep things seperated, and not boring that much.
-----
We declared war, get prepared, and went there. Before the time started, we were not able to get in. When the time started, we were able to get in without getting teleported.
We went to the Siege Camp zone. Clicked it but it gave us an error: Cannot build this when city is not vulnureable (something like that). 15 minutes passed, nothing. 45 minutes passed nothing. This is where we started to just start roaming in the land.
We saw some guys out of the defender guild were roaming in the zone aswell. They weren't from Defending raid, and since we have nothing to do while get an answer from a GM, we killed what we saw.
And while we're waiting, we saw that our Guild Points are down to 0. From 2124 to 0. We did nothing, we just went there and waited (???).
GMs pop in (I told GMs because many of us opened petitions). Basicly, he told that he don't know the reason for any of those, and he also told that he cannot give our points back.
105 minutes passed. We still had 15 minutes but it just got finished, before filling 2 hours.
-----
2nd Battle. Poitain BK instance, west. I missed the first 30 minutes, but got a short version of what happened when I got there. This time, again we were not able to do anything for the first 15 minutes, but then our Siege camp was built, and we were attacking their walls, gates, and we got in finally. We just slaughtered them, and destroyed their Barracks (thus, no respawn for them I think).
We kept attacking buildings, with siege weapons. But we noticed some issues. Our guild points went down to 0 this time aswell. It doesn't matter for us to be honest. We kept going on. Destroyed most of their buildings and walls. But;
Siege weapons don't differ at all. They deal same damage, and having same range. Also, some buildings, especially Temple and some walls are out of any siege weapon ranges. In addition to this, their tradepost was out of reach, but sometimes siege weapons were hitting it (2 was near it, we got it down to 3%, temple was at 100% at all times, walls around temple was very far). Tradepost was a total joke actually, when we targetted center of itself, siege weapons were saying "Out of range". When we were targetting somewhere that could hit with splash damage, even if it was thrown at the enterance of tradepost, it was not taking any damage. And most weird, siege weapons were saying "Out of Range" after 1-2 shoots. When we were trying to target exactly the same spot, it was saying "Out of Range" again.
We got their keep down to 34% but then, again while it was showing 15 minutes left, siege ended again, instantly, without any messages on screen. Before it ended, we had downed their points from 4k something to 2k I think, and we were having 2k+ points. But when we opened guild tab, it was 15 this time (some people were doing premade pvp matches).
-----
So in short, they really need to change siege weapon ranges, damages, and maybe accuracy accordingly. What I know is, Ballistas should be having least damage, least range and high accuracy but cannot be used on long&medium ranges, catapult should be having all medium but cannot be used on long ranges, and trebl... (I forgot full name) should be having high-high-low but cannot be used on short/low ranges. If they're not going to make it happen, they really need to add more siege zones where you build siege weapons, to reach every building easily, for those which are really far from any siege camp (especially the walls that are behind keep, to line them up you got your siege camp, siege weapon, battlekeep, and walls behind it- those walls cannot be reached). Another suggestion about siege weapons is, there could be 2-3 Siege Targetting modules, 1 is for low range high damage, others are for med range and med damage, and high range - low damage. So that most of the siege camps won't lose their value after destroying the buildings around of itself.
And, outer wall camp location number really need to be increased in my opinion, but according to attacker-defender strength, thinking that 48 ranged people aoe'ing the very first camp, could be really annoying to be honest.
Also, they need to fix the issue about vanishing attacker guild points, and most importantly, not being able to initiate the fight. Another guild that did a siege on our server tells that you cannot form a raid from 2 guilds and go there as attacker. So I think, what we experienced is, someone not from attacker or defender guild zoned to BK instance, and we weren't able to get it working, start it in other words. I think a system to assign attacker&defender guilds after a war is declared, so that anyone don't have anything to do at the BK instance will be teleported, will fix this issue.
In addition, they need to readjust/fix building hit zones (hit boxes lets say). You can only hit the 4-5 wooden stick inside a tradepost (by your weapon), and I don't know if you need to target a place that splashes to those aswell.
And lastly, we think that Keep HP is related with the remaining buildings on the field. We don't know but it may be related. It could be a system to prevent destroying keep only, but since keep has 1 siege camp zones nearby, and as there are many buildings&walls that cannot be attacked, this just sucks at the moment.
Thanks for reading. Please keep this post clean from trolling & flaming, what I'm trying to do is post something to FC as a feedback.
And FC: Siege weapon suggestions should be considered..."

Read your wall of text and all i can say is its full of alot of assumptions and alot of acusations about people you know nothing about.
I guess you know the saying " When you ASSUME you make an ASS out of U and ME "
you assume you know the moderators powers and you assume every one deserved it.
alot of fiction and not alot of fact. like you i like to read forums and when people make bold statments i like them to be backed up with FACTS or at least some good basis of fact for the reader to make a solid judgment.
The only people who know how the AOC forums are run are FUNCOM and the people it puts in place to police it. members of the forums base there facts on what has been deleted and the bans they get. unfortunaly in life you get bad apples on both sides and being a moderator does not exclude you from the bad apple barrel.
I wrote this long paragraph out why you should read a post before replying, but since you did not read, I shouldn't have to type all that up. Your thread was not deleted. And an informational post like that removed does not mean censorship my friend. Did it ever occur to you that a developer read it, wrote down the info and passed along the info. And instead of the thread wasting space, he removed it? DO you realise how much of a pain it is to keep a forum from not bogging down when you have alot of people viewing it?
Either way, posting about it on mmorpg.com, will not get you anywere. There are many ways to solve a problem, and the forums should NEVER be your first or last resort. Good day!

Your notion that a developer wrote down that feedback post explaining why sieges were simply non-functional, and then deleted it along with all the replies to it, from the front page of the AOC general forum to "save space" because "it was no longer needed" as it was now on his magical"FIRST THING TO FIX TOMORROW LIST" is, I'm afraid to say, extremely funny and very, very stupid XD
Move on? Funcom has pulled some real stunts, lets hope developers in the future keep this debacle fresh in their minds. We dont need anymore debacles like this in the genre.
Arcken is SOOO right!
We need to stand up and let these developers know that we are not going to settle for mediocre trash anymore. The genre has been around long enough for things like this to not be happening. The game was a lot of fun at release, even with missing features, thin content, and no end game. But instead of focusing on that stuff Funcom decided to implement junk, make unnecessary changes, and release patch after patch of game breaking bugs.
*People again, please keep on topic, we don't like locking threads down or taking further actions.. Keep it civil, keep it to the topic and have your say*

Phew, that was a hell of a rant.
A hell of a rant. Some bad mouth language here and there.
But all in all. You just spoke the truth about the state of this bad soap called Age of Conan with the worst actor of all time, Funcom!
And oh. Nice finding. Anyone remember Funcom's bull excuse statement about the DX10 fiasco back in may to try silence the customers who found out DX10 wasn't there and that they would showcase it at Leipzig this month to be released shortly after? Prosponed to 2009! In other words: Dropped!
It was nice to find these forums. This is a great site! Glad I found it.
On topic...AoC was one of the worst gaming experiences I've ever had. I was continually shocked at how little FunCom communicated with their players. And I'm not even refering to developers posting on the forums occasionally, although that would have been nice. I'm talking about bare-bones basic stuff.
I think the thing that drove me the most insane was their lack of patch information. When I left--which was two weeks after I started--players were having to create a list of changes for all of FunCom's patches. It boggled my mind. Well, that and the fact that they obviously were doing NO testing for their patches.
I'd had no experience with FunCom before AoC and I intend to have no further experience with them ever again. They appeared to me to be either woefully incompetent or arrogantly indifferent.
I did not receive a ticket, but it was the beginning of the end for me playing Age of Conan. Performance getting worse with every patch didn't help either.
Guys stop stealing my avatar XD and stay on topic The official forums actually feel kind of dead now, "a bit too silent" it feels, I think today's server outage in the EU had something to do with it US forums is still trucking and full of cancellation posts, but I feel they're being left there longer, seems the mods have retreated somewhat
It's too late man, You've started a revolution.
No worries though, I'll photoshop a couple others and post them. Hmm, Maybe something with EE

Sorry man but when I get home I am changing my avatar to yours. You have started a revolution and you should be proud.
The part about forums being mayhem that is - it looks like the forums are now dead too. It seems both the fanboys and the whiners have packed up their things and left the forum. Perhaps the fanboys are just keeping their heads down while the whiners have just stopped trying to get a rise out of people.
Even the mods seem more hands off, we're seeing more threads that openly dismiss the game, talk about impending death, etc. - This is a far cry from what it was like only a week ago, where any suggestion that the game might be in trouble was promptly deleted.
What happened? I think fanboy and whiner alike are on the "minute of silence" part of their eulogy to this dead game, but time will tell in the next few days.
the thread title made me laugh, its so dramatic. but your right though, this game is bleeding out bad. and to your most recent post about the mods being "hands off" and allowing some bashing of the game its because if they deleted every thread that did this there would be no new posts.

We kept attacking buildings, with siege weapons. But we noticed some issues. Our guild points went down to 0 this time aswell. It doesn't matter for us to be honest. We kept going on. Destroyed most of their buildings and walls. But;
Siege weapons don't differ at all.
Good day!
Your notion that a developer wrote down that feedback post explaining why sieges were simply non-functional, and then deleted it along with all the replies to it, from the front page of the AOC general forum to "save space" because "it was no longer needed" as it was now on his magical "FIRST THING TO FIX TOMORROW LIST" is, I'm afraid to say, extremely funny and very, very stupid XD
Good day to you!

Have a nice day.
they would showcase it at Leipzig this month to be released shortly after? Prosponed to 2009!
Got a source for this?
AoC is my first and last expeience with Funcom. I wouldn't play another game made by them if they paid me to play it.
Very well, how about one of mine -- this one?

Immature? No.
Vulgar? No.
Critical? Yes
Closed? Within the hour.
I did not receive a ticket, but it was the beginning of the end for me playing Age of Conan. Performance getting worse with every patch didn't help either.
Here!
Have you guys seen the latest XFire and Funcom stock numbers? Still dropping!
I logged on Bane (Which had a lower pop to begin with) and it just seemed dead. No chat in /ooc, and not one soul in Khemi.
LMAO, so everyones rockin the avatar now. I didn't wanna "rip" and steal the avatar, but I'll join in now.
For great justice!!!!

Guys stop stealing my avatar XD and stay on topic
The official forums actually feel kind of dead now, "a bit too silent" it feels, I think today's server outage in the EU had something to do with it
US forums is still trucking and full of cancellation posts, but I feel they're being left there longer, seems the mods have retreated somewhat
It's too late man, You've started a revolution.
No worries though, I'll photoshop a couple others and post them. Hmm, Maybe something with EE
Gamer Plus+
Sorry man but when I get home I am changing my avatar to yours. You have started a revolution and you should be proud.
*Thread off topic*
We have been very casual about threads going off topic allot today, please don't abuse this.
Thank you
My original post no longer stands.
Lol, check this post... lots of people banned without any visible reason
Needles to say, thread is now closed.
