I would really like the defenders of this game to put as much logical thought and presentation into their posts as the "haters" The defenders simply say stuff like "oh I'm having fun" - yes at level 35, the game is fun, if you play the game 1 hour a week or something yes it's fun, if you have no idea about other MMOs and think it's ok for a MMO to have basic stats that don't work, yes it's fun Most of the fanboys sound to me like if you gave them Pong with pretty graphics, they'd call it a successful MMO launch.
Stop being such terrified amateurs and look at the game properly - as a discerning customer and not some fresh-faced newbie who is tasting his first glass of wine and proclaiming it to be excellent despite it being a bottom shelf box of table juice from Argentina. * Inventory bugs
* Mount Bugs
* Broken trade skills
* Broken guild city features

* World geometry holes ( I know of 4 off the top of my head)

* Lack of in game raid administration
* Server lock down bugs
* Missing promised DirectX support
* Missing promised PVP features
* Missing promised mature content
* Missing promised social features
* Lack of Game Balance
* Weak fast movement net code
* Lots of /leaving visibility
* Missing promised raid content
* No protection against exploiters
* No protection against spammers
* No protection against griefers
* Hostile and unfriendly player base (though not funcom's fault)
* Hidden / clouded game mechanics: ie: stats formulas?
* Lack of community communication: Feature planning
* Lack of community communication: Priorities
* Lack of community communication: Stealth patch changes
* Lack of community communication: Class balance issues
* Worst in game / GM support seen to date in my opinion
* Broken or impossible to enter mini games
* Lack of basic UI chat features
* Broken Arena
* Broken vendors
* Broken traders
* No siege options
* Lack of itemization
* Shady billing process
* No policy for reimbursement of unschedule server downtimes
I have to agree with most of the technical stuff, but amateur or not.. lol.. (thats a funny term to be using here, everyone thinks they are the almight of the MMO genre), anyway.. like i said before i played since day one. and yes i do got to 80, and i am lvling other chars and i start seeing improvements in the game. I don't care of how amateur i am, i actually like the game and i am having fun with it.
And NO, i am not defending Funcom.. i don't complain about most of the things i see around except the end game content, and the PvP not yet implemented.. But those aren't still a major prob to me. What actually is annoing me is their lack of client support. But this thread isn't about that.
Lol, please hate the game, funcom, and the rest of the world if you guys want.. but don't criticise someone just because they are having fun and don't join your wave of hate.

I still play for the PVP. Last night in Kheshatta saw 6-7 guilds with teams running around PVPing. Even a few running full raid groups. Alot of people left the game but it still feels active on Deathwhisper. This is still fun for me.
It isn't the single server where that happens. Most of the haters are only into PvE, that is their main prob... Everyone complaining about the game, but still playing PvE on a game that was announced as PvP, fun.. lol
Alright, I have some questions. What is illegal about releasing a game with some features not in it? People keep saying its illegal but I don't understand how. MMOs are not single player console games, they evolve, they change, they add, they subtract. That is why you pay a monthly fee. If you bought something like Mass Effect for PC you probably played it, beat it, and were happy with the experience and paying for it. Yet you play AoC and you have the same experience, as you all admit it was fun up until the high levels. Alright so you don't like it anymore, I feel for you. So uninstall the game, you GOT your money's worth, you played it until you maxed out your character, and now refuse to pay the monthly fees because there is more you want and they don't have it yet. We understand your concern, you had your fun and to YOU there's no more to be had.
You want your money back? The game worked didn't it? How did you get to 80 if it didn't? YOU choose to grind through levels 60-80 and claim its not fun. How many hours did it take you to get to 80? 100? 200? If you're not having fun anymore, find something you enjoy. You got your money's worth, you had fun at some point, and some things are missing you feel lied to about, so don't pay the monthly fee. Funcom owes you nothing as far as I see.

Really, the only way to not rapidly exhaust all the crappy content in AOC is to be a royal newb, an altoholic, or log on just to stare at the screen without doing anything

I watch the patch notes because 1 day i hope that funcom actually releases the game they showed us. Until then, im going to make fun of it and pick on it.
All you need to know right now is that.. in my opinion, AOC is one of the best games from level 1 through level 50. Most of your time after level 50 is spent grinding for experience with groups of players. I'm talking about pulling 10 camps, killing all of them, and then waiting a couple minutes for them to respawn.. just to do it again. Imagine doing that for almost 30 levels. This becomes even more difficult if you are not in a large guild, because most of these areas are points of conflict. There are often fights over these spots, and the larger guilds typically win.
Leveling aside. This is also where you get into your professions. Many of them still broken or bugged. I can see past most of the bugs. I believe that when they are fixed, the game will be much better. It's just a matter of time. What I can't get around is the design of their end-game. The majority of their raid bosses are one-trick ponies. They send out AOE damage and spawn mini-me's at certain hit point percentages/ The raid interface and functions are all FUBAR. I once spent over an hour trying to form a raid in front of a dungeon, THAT is how bad it is. There is a known money exploit, it's been in since early beta. The battlekeep idea is wonderful. Except that the border lands are an exact replica of the guild city/harvesting area/ I could go on for a while, but I'll cut it short. Like getting teleported to desolate areas that are off the map and unfinished... why? Guild city functions not working, STILL. Horrible class balance. Blah blah. It's mostly end-game stuff.
In the end, my experience was one of the best I've ever had in a MMO from level 1 to 50. After that, it was a fast downward spiral. I'm no longer playing the game. And sure, there may be some people left. But, this is why 90% of the guilds fell aprt on my server. AoC lost so many people by lying and rushing a game out that needed another 3 months of extensive beta testing... at the least. The only guilds left are huge 500-700 man guilds. And there's only like.. 2 or 3 of them, and half the people are inactive.

I did all that in the first month and a half. After a couple of weeks of logging in and getting bored I cancelled and stopped altogether
AOC is just a crap game, it's sort of a tartily-dressed up Pong in terms of depth.
And I post about it because that is my opinion and I'm one of those "crazy" people who speak their mind.
Why is it that some people have to act like little chidren having a temper tantrum when they wish to post pro or con on a game. If there was some device that had direct access to our brain and allowed us to create and play a game exactly the way we think it should be, I'm affraid some of you would still be unsatisfied.
If you have a problem/or don't have a problem with a game there are ways you can express it and still be civil to the opposing party.
Now I have not played AOC yet as I had the feeling that the company might be taking on more than they could deliver. I did play SWG preCU so I know how bad things can be. I also know that throwing a fit isn't going to help, though there are some that would disagree.
If you have something negative or positive to say then list your reasons and leave it at that. Why is it you need to berate someone else that doesn't hold you view. And if it is as bad as you say you should contact the company about it. You should also talk to a lawyer about your rights in the matter.
True, people still will play and like the game. But if you ask them why it is because of investment and time put in already with no other games they are willing to play yet. If you spend money on adding 3months subscriptions or more and spent a lot of money on the game then you will stick around. To bad 30% of the current AOC players invested from day 1 with multiple month subscriptions already paid for.

It's a process of moving from each quick fix to the next, Until just about everyone has a fair shot at winning in a fight.Of course upgrades are going to come into play (gems) and create even more imbalances. Just as when PVP gear comes into play , it will cause more imbalances.
Real PVP means you are fighting a thinking opponent , It has nothing to do with the scenario (BG's/Open). It is wildly known that was the main focus of this game , They've said themselves the PVE was basically a filler to get you to endgame where you start fighting other people and building cities.
That's not to say they didn't attempt to cater to the PVE crowd with raiding , But again that's just more filler to get your gear and make you stronger in PVP.

Good pvp isnt about 1shotting. which is basically what AoC boils down to. The fact is that skill such as stamina drains and mana burns are infact useless.
PvP was never tested for AoC. Sieges were not even function, and still arent in honesty. Gems were not even tested or use prior to release.
There was no such thing as a beta test 90% of the game.
This thread is quite interesting. The mere existence of it indicates that the game is in such a big trouble that there is a need for someone to post that people are actually enjoying it.
If you need to post that there are people, somewhere, enjoying a game then that is not giving out good signals to people who havent played it and are wondering if it is a good game.
More level 40's wondering what is wrong with the game. Hey, we were all there once!
Tell us what you think, when you can't raid due to constant latency spiking, or you experienced the bugged lagfest they call seiging. You know, the whole point of leveling a character? That type of stuff.

I think many of the AOC fanboys have realised this already, their reaction runs from
a) increasingly extreme, absurd optimism and denial of facts to counteract the obvious game failure (feeble-minded twits like Amorey and Protus are into the "drivel-zone" these days where they just can't find any actual material to defend with, they just spam threads and rant about how we should be more spiritual and patient or something like that)
b) slow but steady transformation into feeble defender, then into quiet observer, then into - and let's not forget this - haters themselves (I've noticed a lot of fanboys just losing it lately)

Ofc you can post opinions I am all for that. But it sure isent alot of it here atm but just whining from alot of people that dont even play the game. Alot of angry people that got let down by Funcom and will never be able to forget it, so they spend all their free time here crying for some werid reson I never could understand.

All you need to know right now is that.. in my opinion, AOC is one of the best games from level 1 through level 50. Most of your time after level 50 is spent grinding for experience with groups of players. I'm talking about pulling 10 camps, killing all of them, and then waiting a couple minutes for them to respawn.. just to do it again. Imagine doing that for almost 30 levels. This becomes even more difficult if you are not in a large guild, because most of these areas are points of conflict. There are often fights over these spots, and the larger guilds typically win.
Leveling aside. This is also where you get into your professions. Many of them still broken or bugged. I can see past most of the bugs. I believe that when they are fixed, the game will be much better. It's just a matter of time. What I can't get around is the design of their end-game. The majority of their raid bosses are one-trick ponies. They send out AOE damage and spawn mini-me's at certain hit point percentages/ The raid interface and functions are all FUBAR. I once spent over an hour trying to form a raid in front of a dungeon, THAT is how bad it is. There is a known money exploit, it's been in since early beta. The battlekeep idea is wonderful. Except that the border lands are an exact replica of the guild city/harvesting area/ I could go on for a while, but I'll cut it short. Like getting teleported to desolate areas that are off the map and unfinished... why? Guild city functions not working, STILL. Horrible class balance. Blah blah. It's mostly end-game stuff.
In the end, my experience was one of the best I've ever had in a MMO from level 1 to 50. After that, it was a fast downward spiral. I'm no longer playing the game. And sure, there may be some people left. But, this is why 90% of the guilds fell aprt on my server. AoC lost so many people by lying and rushing a game out that needed another 3 months of extensive beta testing... at the least. The only guilds left are huge 500-700 man guilds. And there's only like.. 2 or 3 of them, and half the people are inactive.
So you hate the game and you still play it, why the hell would you do that?
What are you doing here at all? Do you want us to feel sorry for you that you cant find anything else to do in game or life? I seriously cant understand where all these people are comming from and it scares me where they will end up in life.
I hope one day you can look back on this and see how lame this is.. You playing something you dont like and then bitch about it on the forums thats like repetenly bashing your head on wall and then running back to your mom crying and saying it dient feel all that good..

I did all that in the first month and a half. After a couple of weeks of logging in and getting bored I cancelled and stopped altogether
AOC is just a crap game, it's sort of a tartily-dressed up Pong in terms of depth.
And I post about it because that is my opinion and I'm one of those "crazy" people who speak their mind.
Why is it that some people have to act like little chidren having a temper tantrum when they wish to post pro or con on a game. If there was some device that had direct access to our brain and allowed us to create and play a game exactly the way we think it should be, I'm affraid some of you would still be unsatisfied.
If you have a problem/or don't have a problem with a game there are ways you can express it and still be civil to the opposing party.
Now I have not played AOC yet as I had the feeling that the company might be taking on more than they could deliver. I did play SWG preCU so I know how bad things can be. I also know that throwing a fit isn't going to help, though there are some that would disagree.
If you have something negative or positive to say then list your reasons and leave it at that. Why is it you need to berate someone else that doesn't hold you view. And if it is as bad as you say you should contact the company about it. You should also talk to a lawyer about your rights in the matter.
True, people still will play and like the game. But if you ask them why it is because of investment and time put in already with no other games they are willing to play yet. If you spend money on adding 3months subscriptions or more and spent a lot of money on the game then you will stick around. To bad 30% of the current AOC players invested from day 1 with multiple month subscriptions already paid for.

I have to completely disagree here , I wouldn't call it crying but there are plenty of people posting about their disgust.I have not seen many posts telling people to stop , Rather I see people asking others to respect their opinion.
There are people here who basically have no interest in AOC , Outside of seeing it close down and funcom burn.

It isn't the single server where that happens. Most of the haters are only into PvE, that is their main prob... Everyone complaining about the game, but still playing PvE on a game that was announced as PvP, fun.. lol
Well I've from multiple people, in person not just on these forums, that PvP is crap waht with gems and front loaded combos.
So I don't buy this one dimensional arguement.
In fact I would go so far as to say the only people playing are people who like PvP but have no idea what good PvP is like. Because PvE is obviously problematic and all that is left in PvP is "Boom Headshot" gank squads.
I have to love all the self confidence some people here have. I agree that PvP has problems at the moment. But, hehe, from that to state that he's the almighty, allrighty, the one that created and the only one that played PvP games since they exist.. Jeez, guys please stop putting people down just because you think you are the one that knows all and right, and need to show it so the others "sheeps" out here so they follow your ideas.

I guess I look at it as for the Value...Game 50 bucks and has been out 3 months? Thats 2 months sub at 15 bucks each, so I ask myselfe is this game worth 80 bucks? And dont expect to get any new Free content in awhile as they are still trying to fix the problems. heh the last patch was mostly to fix 1 broken quest.

Imbalances are to be expected , With any new MMO especially where PVP is concerned. That's nothing new at all , And an issue that trully never gets resolved. It's a process of moving from each quick fix to the next, Until just about everyone has a fair shot at winning in a fight.Of course upgrades are going to come into play (gems) and create even more imbalances. Just as when PVP gear comes into play , it will cause more imbalances.
Real PVP means you are fighting a thinking opponent , It has nothing to do with the scenario (BG's/Open). It is wildly known that was the main focus of this game , They've said themselves the PVE was basically a filler to get you to endgame where you start fighting other people and building cities.
That's not to say they didn't attempt to cater to the PVE crowd with raiding , But again that's just more filler to get your gear and make you stronger in PVP.

Good pvp isnt about 1shotting. which is basically what AoC boils down to. The fact is that skill such as stamina drains and mana burns are infact useless.
PvP was never tested for AoC. Sieges were not even function, and still arent in honesty. Gems were not even tested or use prior to release.
There was no such thing as a beta test 90% of the game.
This thread is quite interesting. The mere existence of it indicates that the game is in such a big trouble that there is a need for someone to post that people are actually enjoying it.
If you need to post that there are people, somewhere, enjoying a game then that is not giving out good signals to people who havent played it and are wondering if it is a good game.

Tell us what you think, when you can't raid due to constant latency spiking, or you experienced the bugged lagfest they call seiging. You know, the whole point of leveling a character? That type of stuff.

At the end of the day, all your opinions are moot, this game IS going to fail...now that doesn't mean its going to completely stop, it will just fall into a very very small niche market with a couple of servers and a small player base, barely hanging on to life. It may even become a free MMO, advertising based.
See the problem with you Fanbois is you think this is just a minority haters club packing a small tantrum on a forum that wont effect anything. Well sorry to burst your bubble but this is a world wide feeling, so big in fact that even the media in Norway are bagging on Funcom. This game is getting kicked in the head on personal blogs, game reviews (the ones done after they had spent time out of tortage), magazine interviews, developer interviews, newspaper articles....there are even posts made on stock exchange websites warning investors to not waste money on funcom with links to forums showing the bad customer service and problems.
You can sit there being smug all you like thinking you are having a great time and that you will continue to have a great time, but we will be the ones laughing when you start seeing server mergers and massive ghost towns. You will then cry and say hell, that guy was right.
I think many of the AOC fanboys have realised this already, their reaction runs from
a) increasingly extreme, absurd optimism and denial of facts to counteract the obvious game failure (feeble-minded twits like Amorey and Protus are into the "drivel-zone" these days where they just can't find any actual material to defend with, they just spam threads and rant about how we should be more spiritual and patient or something like that)
b) slow but steady transformation into feeble defender, then into quiet observer, then into - and let's not forget this - haters themselves (I've noticed a lot of fanboys just losing it lately)
