Which is better and why? At the Darkfall forums all I hear are biased comments I think this would be the only place to hear both sides. I'm not interested on your detailed analysis of which is less sandboxie, but which in theory or if you've tested any of them what was so great about the gameplay, as a casual or grind player which is funner to play? I guess only the faq's can give that answer in theory but I'm not sold on any hype, I'll try both games, glad they both at least have dwarves.

You can't compare the two. One is a sandbox, one is a little more linear.
Don't even try to compare the two because all you'll get is flame wars.
Darkfall: More "hardcore" because you have to work to have fun, and all your work can be taken away from an archer one-shotting you from a tree.
Warhammer: More "casual" because you can have fun from the moment you pick up the game. Also, you're not forced to PvE, you can level and loot players (not full loot, they don't lose their gear but they drop money/items that you can pick up, just like an NPC) through PvP if you wanted.
You can't compare the two, but that's not the reason why. Warhammer has an open beta. You can read beta tester reviews, and ask them questions.
As far as I know, there has been no open beta of Darkfall. So you can't talk to anyone that has actually played the game.
Don't know what you would compare, without that.
I wonder how many more of these threads will we have to suffer through. Also if you're going to try both games (as you stated) what's the point of asking in the first place?

Heh yeah, I was going by trust in Aventurine that this beta was actually real. So, after some real people have tested it, you still can't compare the two.

Probably a billion. After everyone quits playing Warhammer because it's old and dated, we'll still be seeing "videos" of Darkfall, and be comparing it to KOTOR MMO or something like that.
I can see it now. I saw the Darkfall video and it was awesome. KOTOR MMO is releasing now, but I'm not going to play it 'cause I'm waiting on Darkfall.

Yes, and by real people I mean a current blogger for MMORPG.Com, PC gamer, Ten Ton Hammer, those sorts.
If it's, well, my cousin knows a guy, and his brother has a friend who's girlfriend knows a guy, and he's actually played Darkfall, and it's awesome man! I'm not going to be very impressed.
No one has played Dark Fall so you do not have anything to compare at this point. The only thing you can say 100% is Warhammer is releasing September 18 and has already gone gold and Darkfall is still after 7 years vaporware.
Darkfall has missed the opportunity to be relevant but still has fanboys that will say this is the next great game without ever playing it believing what the game devs have said will be in the game (we all know how that works reference to Dark and Light) because they are in love with the idea of a sandbox game.
Darkfall has been talking about beta since 2005 and are promising way more than a small company can deliver. It's graphics engine is very dated as seen by the vids that have been released. This game is simply the next Dark and Light even if it releases which is still in doubt. Game had a lot of promise in 2001, in 2008 it has simply missed its window to be successful in the current marketplace of MMO's.

Darkfall Development history
On August 29, 2001, Razorwax announced the development of Darkfall and launched its official website. The Razorwax development team initially consisted of five members: Claus Grovdal (Lead Design and Producer), Ricki Sickenger (Lead Tools and Game Logic Programmer), Henning Ludvigsen (Art Director), Kjetil Helland (Lead 3D/Client Programmer), and Erik Sperling Johansen (Lead Server Programmer).
In October 2002, Aventurine SA was founded in Greece, ostensibly to develop and commercialise Darkfall. The Razorwax team was integrated into Aventurine, and five other developers from Norway were hired into the company. When the Razorwax team and the Aventurine team had their first meeting in Athens, a member of one of the teams joked that Razorwax should relocate from Norway to Greece due to the lower taxes and cost of living in Greece. Eventually, the two teams realised that this idea actually made very good business sense, and by December 2002, the relocation of Razorwax was finalised.
In September 2005, the signup for a closed clan beta began. The first Darkfall gameplay video was released on February 2006.
Aventurine did not have a publically playable version of Darkfall available at E3 2006, however various people were shown a standalone demonstration version of the game. In June 2006, just after E3, the Darkfall team began releasing bi-weekly Questions and Answers through Warcry.
An announcement on July 11, 2006 stated that preparations were being made to begin beta. An interview with the developers on August 25, 2006 indicated that Aventurine did not have a publisher for Darkfall, and were considering the possibility of self-publishing the game.
On January 17, 2007, Aventurine announced that a fully functional and stable beta build is running on remote servers and that the game is being shown to prospective partners, distributors, publishers, technology providers, etc.
On January 30, 2007, Aventurine released a video containing about one minute of ingame footage, showing melee combat, mounts (including mounted combat), spellcasting and naval combat. The developers have stated that the combat will be similar to that of Mount and Blade.
On May 31, 2007, Aventurine's 9th Developer Journal responded to some of the recent beta inquiries, and announced that their internal target date for beta was summer 2007.
On August 2, 2007, Aventurine stated that although the game is technically ready for beta, beta will not start until negotiations with possible publishers are completed.
On September 13, 2007, updated public beta information added to Darkfalls forums stating "Solo player beta applications will be taken soon. Please watch the news forums".
On February 22, 2008, they released a "location test video" depicting various player-crafted city locations in the game. "For today's update we put together a medley of location test videos, from in and around clan cities and racial outposts".
On April 11, 2008, Associate Producer Tasos Flambouras announced Darkfall was now feature-complete.
On May 9, 2008, a WarCry developer journal stated that "... launch date will be inside 2008, with the public beta preceding it by a few weeks. This is official and internally we're a lot more specific, but pending an announcement, we cannot say more at this time."
On June 30, 2008, Aventurine confirmed they have signed with Greek company AudioVisual Enterprises to distribute Darkfall in Europe. AudioVisual later made a stock market announcement to this effect.
On August 29, 2008, The Darkfall beta page changed into a beta sign-up page.
7 years for a beta sign up page..........
The are at both extremes of the MMO spectrum, one sandbox and hardcore, and the other almost an hybrid between WOW and TF2. So it's very hard to compare the too.
And one is about to release and the other... well...
would be tough to compare these games.
One is a linear, gear based, RvR type game
the other is a Sandbox, FFAPVP, FPS combat game
Both look good imo.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
Not forced to pve, free open pvp? sounds cool.... so there aren't lame "pvp only" servers and "pve only" servers are they? I just prefer a game with both on all servers, and it isn't instanced is it? Warhammer sounds fun, Darkfall may be awesome but like everyone has said, it's 'beta' is practically myth, I checked youtube only to see tons of fake beta videos, heheh.... Well since I'm looking for a playable game that is actually released, I think I'll focus on warhammer, my gf said it has a stupid name but it really does look nice and the features sound good, also I hate the cartoon graphics on most mmos, and the shots look very non-cartoon realistic, wish it hat gnomes but I'll settle for the dwarvish race, I might make a dwarvish guild.

just curious... why are people still comparing two games that are nothing alike?
For that matter, how can you compare two games when one of them is imaginary?
Sounds like an ancient Chinese riddle: What is the sound of one hand clapping?

Warhammer does have instancing. All of the scenarios (like BGs in WoW) are instanced.
Does your gf (or you for that matter) know that Warhammer is tabletop miniature war game that has been around since the early 80s?
Next to WoW Warhammer has the most "cartoonish" graphics out of any game. I like that though.
Which is LESS sandboxie? Warhammer is the most linear MMO I have ever played. Its was never supposed to be sandbox so why would we compare it in that manner?
playing: darkfall
waiting: earthrise
why do you want to compare Darkfall to Warhammer like others have already said they are both totally different from each other. Plus, like you already say, WAR is bout to release. So...... Yeah there is no point in comparing a released title to one still deep in development or whatever

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
I predict that Darkfall comes at the same time like Duke Nukem Forever (or at least they get a closed beta).
at least we have some in game views of duke nukem forever with someone playing it...so i think DNF has a better chance
I only judge games I play.
O_o
Warhammer vs WHAT???!!
Darkfall is a new Car that can Hoover about 200 Meter above the ground, really nice it runs on nuclear power. It should come out soon (how do you do the Trademark symbol?)
Hold ALT, then hit 0153 on the num pad.
Darkfall... the game people desire so badly, they vehemently refuse to believe it's vaporware, despite every indication. Coming Soon™ to a game retailer near you in a magical alternate universe with unicorns, teleportation beams and Bob Dole as President of the United States of America.

In case anyone needed it, the replies to this post are proof that being a 'troll' and being a 'fanboi' are not mutually exclusive activities.
My opinion of Darkfall has nothing to do with being a WAR fanboy or anything of the sort.
I simply find it amusing when people refer to Darkfall as though it's actually going to be released.
Even moreso, when people create threads comparing a game that is currently nothing more than an unproven list of features, to one that's finished, tested, and will be released in less than three weeks.
