I have to say that I am one of the gamers that is very disappointed.
Art is subjective, but man, the game to me looks and feels like it was made for 8 year olds. I grew tired of it in 15 min much less can I imagine myself spending HOURS in this world. I understand that it's based on the Warhammer IP and this predates WOW by 20 years but I still don't like it. The art, in a word, sucks. The movement is VERY clunky and annoying. It's terrible. The character customization is a flat out JOKE. Not to mention the class choices left me unsatisfied. I found that there was not ONE SINGLE CLASS that I wanted to play. The way the zones are set up is especially uninspiring. Not only are they smallish, but there is only a tiny portion of it set aside for RvR. I just don't like the design as it feels like an afterthought; and it was, according to the developers (originally they planned to have instanced "scenario" battles only). Oh, and no player housing? No thanks. In fact, I'm kinda pissed I bought into the hype. Paul Barnett is a great personality and he hyped this game to the max. But it's just not fun to play. My 2 cents.

The character customization is a flat out JOKE. Not to mention the class choices left me unsatisfied. I found that there was not ONE SINGLE CLASS that I wanted to play. well i found 4 i wanted to play (very hard to narrow it down) and i only settled on my choice after a friend chose his main. i found the choice fun because i have read quite a bit of Warhammer and played a few games and so i have encountered many characters i loved and most of the classes fit at least one of these characters (bit dissapointed at no slayers but hey, there is always the expansions) The way the zones are set up is especially uninspiring. Not only are they smallish, but there is only a tiny portion of it set aside for RvR. I just don't like the design as it feels like an afterthought; and it was, according to the developers (originally they planned to have instanced "scenario" battles only). this to me is where your post falls apart. i have seen and read countless times that the RvR gets bigger and bigger every tier you go up. to me this indicates you only ever went into T1 and hardly gave the game a chance. by T4 (judging from the maps i saw) 80% of the zone is RvR and it is considerably bigger than the T1 zones (according to some posts on these forums and again, judging from the maps). you also state that it feels like an afterthought, well i dont see how something that is at the centre of the game, the thing that sells the game for them could possibly have been an afterthought. its ok if you dont like the RvR just dont go bashing it. Oh, and no player housing? No thanks. fair enough, i like player housing too and i am always sad when an MMO does not include it. does that mean i wont play? hell no In fact, I'm kinda pissed I bought into the hype. Paul Barnett is a great personality and he hyped this game to the max. But it's just not fun to play. My 2 cents. you have to learn to look past the hype. to leech the facts out of the threads and posts about the game and block out all the useless crap that ends up on these forums due to hype. anyway, good luck in your new MMO and i hope you enjoy it more than you did this one.

I did not say I played for 15 min. I said I was tired of the art within 15 min.
My computer is a gaming rig; a monster. This game did not even make it sweat.
I don't play SWG anylonger. In fact, it's been a very long time now.
I played Dark Age of Camelot for many, many years. DAoC is a way cooler game IMO. I love RvR, why else would I buy this game?
And yes, I was just telling my wife that I am pissed at myself for wasting my cash, not at the company that made this title.
By the way, I pre-ordered.
I find game play to be the most important, but that does not mean I don't like an immersive enviornment.
Lastly, to all the insulting kids on here: Don't be a keyboard warrior. Act the same as you would if we were in person and having a face-to-face conversation.

This have been said multiple times that the RvR zone getting bigger when you level up, you can do this very easily by compare the size of the Tier 1 RvR zone and the Tier 2 RvR zone, they are significantly different.

MMORPG needs to launch an investigation into the accounts posting here. Specifically all of these old ones that previously had 0 post counts until this thread, are all anti-war, all one-liners, and are all saying essentially the very same one-liner.
I guarantee you that those accounts are probably held by maybe one or two people, and I bet they are held by Blizzard... Blizzard fans that is. Guarantee it. This is not the first thread where I have seen it.

If WAR is so much damn fun why are you fanbois here on these forums on opening day? It's opening day! Shouldn't you be playing the game? Or maybe ALL of you are at work right now? Shouldn't you rabid fans of WAR have taken the day off? I mean it's WAR the game you've been waiting for you entire lives! When you look back on your long life as you lay dying, you will remember this day as being the greatest day of your life. This day will be a beacon in the field of your memories - a shining example of the greatness in the world. Quit your jobs and play WAR full time and forever! It is glorious, it is like looking into the face of God! Is this not so?

So we agree, war on these forums is more fun than playing the game?

Ok I feel the urge to reply.
I'm someone who never bought into the hype, didn't follow the game, didn't care.
Saw one video very early, didn't really make me interested and simply ignored it.
A friend knew I collect MMORPGs just for the kicks of it so he pre-ordered WAR for me as a gift.
Anyway I thought wth lets try it, it's just 11gb, fast internet.
Had a massive amount of annoyance to get into OB but when I did I was in for a suprise.
I had no idea about classes or lore or whatsoever. I rolled a Bright Wizard cause he looked cool and I found myself liking the game.
By the end of OB I pretty much leveled all classes up to 10 :P
The art is not that polished, seems a bit cheap/old at times but goddamn its fun. Anyway to be more specific on quote.
a) 15 mins you got tired? Can't see why - Just whining comment to me sorry.
b) Movement isn't the best but it works fine. Some animations look great imho. It's not terrible.
c) It has more customisation than WoW - Pretty much the same as LOTRO - These are probably the most popular MMOs around the world right now so ok - Didn't win any awards here but not gamebreaker either.
d) Zones are set up like that to promote RvR etc. Check your map to see how zone control pretty much works. I'm no pro at WAR but I can see the idea behind them. They're small but haven't had problems so far to be honest.
e) Player housing ? Can't really see where it'd fit in. It's a WAR going on, quite different than LOTRO.
And to sum it up, it may not be fun to play FOR YOU but for one I'm always queued to join my realm cause of people playing and always finding scenarios. Maybe some people like to torture themselves by playing a game that ain't fun ? :P
I don't know, for one, I find it fun.
Not the most complete MMO but I'm definately subscribing to this one.
P.S. Sorry but from your sig I noticed you're an SWG fan. How was animation and movement in that one then ? :P

I think when the newness wears off, a lot of people are going to have a similar opinion. I've tried very hard to like WAR for a very long time. It just isn't happening. The game is not edge of your seat exciting, and the gameplay gets boring fast for me.
For those of you who are enjoying it or disagree, good for you! However, IMO WAR suffers from the same problem that LOTRO did. It's a cool game that just isn't all that fun to play.
I have to say that I am one of the gamers that is very disappointed.

I have played this game for over a year now. I do not agree with you. I have played all the way through the game and you are absolutely wrong when you say character customization is a joke. It is not at lvl 40. Sorry you do not like the game, but it is not a waste of money to everyone. The zones are bigger than most games I have played. Im sorry you came to this game looking for a pvp sandbox game, because it is not.

BLOCKED Him for behind retarded.
Bitter and clueless.
Coming from a current SWG subscriber too, no thanks I don't trust you to know anything about quality.
LOL there more fun in SWG than plaiyng WARHAMMER and we take only the gameplay side lol !
Well easy this game put the line of the quality of the MMO under the actuall market... WOoaa that cool !
No housing, social quest COME ONE ITS GRIND QUEST SHARED WITH OTHER PLAYER LOLLLLLl
Retarded how many YEAR before the release of WAR ??? FOR THIS VISUAL IMPACT and THEY REMOVED many Capital and classes just before the release lol !
Well you can keep your two cents. Have fun waiting for Darkfall or Mortal or whatever.
BLOCKED Him for behind retarded.
Wow.. care to explain that response... or should I guess?

I think put simply your a very small exception to the rule TBH
I think when the newness wears off, a lot of people are going to have a similar opinion. I've tried very hard to like WAR for a very long time. It just isn't happening. The game is not edge of your seat exciting, and the gameplay gets boring fast for me.
For those of you who are enjoying it or disagree, good for you! However, IMO WAR suffers from the same problem that LOTRO did. It's a cool game that just isn't all that fun to play.
Cheers!
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
Ok randon internet guy i will take your word for it and not waste my money
