This game is 100% guild oriented, outside of a guild you can't achieve anything, and that's too restrictive for me.
But if others like this kind of design, AoC is going to get a lot better, so why not giving it another chance?

People pick on AoC for a number of reasons, firstly it's the most recent one to be failing, give it a few months and even less people will care about the game than now, secondly it's the biggest mmo to really fail, sure it hasn't failed like DnL did but AoC had a massive budget and good company and publisher behind it, a great and loved IP, and a huge hype machine that promised the best pvp game ever and they didn't deliver. People feel lied to and let down by funcom. The fact that the game seemed so good on paper just made it hurt all the more when it turned out to be the biggest mmo let down ever.
This isn't at all confined to funcom the same happened when Vanguard was such a let down, the same happened when soe ruined swg etc
I can't imagine anyone would resub to this poor excuse for a game. And given Funcoms track record with this game I'm not very optimistic that it can only get better since shutting it down has a high probabitity of happening also.
Currently I'll give it 50/50 on getting better or shutting down, only time will tell but the $4 stock price is a bad omen IMO.
Raltar doesnt play the game and knows nothing about its current state, yet he comes here and informs current and potential AoC players that AoC is a bad game. Why you might ask; cause Raltar didnt like the game MONTHS ago.

By the way completely new guy who just showed up here and started insulting people with your first three posts, if you had actually been here for the last few months or had bothered to read any of my opinions on the game before assuming they are all wrong, you would have known the reason that I personally do not like the game is because of the combat system and character development. Two things which are part of the AoC's basic design and have NOT changed in the last few months. So yeah, sorry to tell you bud but the reasons why I'm telling people to stay away from the game are still completely accurate and probably always will be, unless the AoC developers decide to scrap the whole game and start over again from scratch.

Seriously though...It's a game. I don't see how you have the heart to say that you want to see people lose their jobs. Sure...some of the top guys made boo-boos, but I don't want to see the company fail for the sake of the people who have families to take care of and really enjoy what they do.

Mediocrity is in the eye of the beholder, it can mean a few different things. I'd place AOC under the moderate (to lower ) quality definitions of the word. It's not bad nor good it's just aoc. I'd place a lot of MMO's in this category. Most have some sort of redeemable quality, which is tarnished by many other short comings. Such is life I suppose, you have to be willing to take the bad with the good. It boils down to what you consider the bad, and what you consider the good.

This really is beside the point of this thread but I was in beta for many months and subscribed for 4 months after launch. I have one lvl 80 PoM and 3 others lvl 60+. So I know what I'm talking about. I had good times with AoC but the endgame just wasn't there. And everyone who has been there knows what I'm talking about. Also I have a friend playing on Aquilonia server and he said that servers are NOT booming and these newest updates are not as AMAZING as some people, like yourself, try to make us believe.
I think the biggest difference between you and me Avery, is that you are a AoC correspondent who gets a free steak dinner from FC every time you find 10 new victims who are dumb enough to subscribe. I'm just a regular guy who like MMO's. Everyone who has been to these forums for more than once know that Avery has his own agenda and has zero objectivity regarding AoC.
It's funny how fanbois and FC employees on these forums try to make me the "bad guy", a nolife hater, who has nothing better to do than to try to sink FC while FC is the "good guy" who's just trying to make the game better to feed their families. Like I said before, this thread is about LYING and FALSE ADVERTISING and how we as customers need to send a message to stop this kind of behaviour. And I think we already have.
FC is a company that was founded on lies and deciet. Just check out the old Gaute interview about the early days where he said they lied to investors to get funding for AO. He thought it was funny. With this kind of corporate culture, I'm not surprised with what happened with AoC.
I study marketing myself and business ethics is very important to me. Without the lying and deciet by FC management I would have never started this thread and would have moved on a long time ago. It's ok to be incompetent and make mediocre games, but it's NOT ok to lie and and cheat people to get them preorder and pay for beta.

Yes...why yes I am. I have found all other MMO's lacking in excitement.
Visual quality, fast action, multiple mobs, placement of character...
I could go on...
But, I find all other MMO's are looking backwards, while AoC at least has a future...and thanks to the new GD, it can only get better.

Seriously though...It's a game. I don't see how you have the heart to say that you want to see people lose their jobs. Sure...some of the top guys made boo-boos, but I don't want to see the company fail for the sake of the people who have families to take care of and really enjoy what they do.

If someone has as much hate as that building up from a few days of play 4 months ok, that to me is just plain creepy.

this place is way to full with geeks and no-lifers (aka Computergaming addicts), who are fed up of most mmos, and since they cant find a new, and have nothing left in real life either, they haunt this place 24/7 and project all their hate and frustration over their failed life into various mmos that they personally dislike.

There is a big difference between me and the people like the OP telling people not to play and pleading with them - heard me say "go sub to the game lately?" I have dished out a few dozen trial keys in that thread up the top under the premise of "you better try it before you buy it".
The third difference is I am a current concurrent subscriber, I am not someone who played the game for the first week or month who is still posting here telling you what they think the game is like based on outdated information.
Its all relative at the end of the day, those interested can read between the lines and make their own mind up - I certainly don't need to do that.

Mediocrity is in the eye of the beholder, it can mean a few different things. I'd place AOC under the moderate (to lower ) quality definitions of the word. It's not bad nor good it's just aoc. I'd place a lot of MMO's in this category. Most have some sort of redeemable quality, which is tarnished by many other short comings. Such is life I suppose, you have to be willing to take the bad with the good. It boils down to what you consider the bad, and what you consider the good.

This really is beside the point of this thread but I was in beta for many months and subscribed for 4 months after launch. I have one lvl 80 PoM and 3 others lvl 60+. So I know what I'm talking about. I had good times with AoC but the endgame just wasn't there. And everyone who has been there knows what I'm talking about. Also I have a friend playing on Aquilonia server and he said that servers are NOT booming and these newest updates are not as AMAZING as some people, like yourself, try to make us believe.
I think the biggest difference between you and me Avery, is that you are a AoC correspondent who gets a free steak dinner from FC every time you find 10 new victims who are dumb enough to subscribe. I'm just a regular guy who like MMO's. Everyone who has been to these forums for more than once know that Avery has his own agenda and has zero objectivity regarding AoC.
It's funny how fanbois and FC employees on these forums try to make me the "bad guy", a nolife hater, who has nothing better to do than to try to sink FC while FC is the "good guy" who's just trying to make the game better to feed their families. I guess when you cannot deny the facts and have no valid arguments, all that is left is personal attacks
Like I said before, this thread is about LYING and FALSE ADVERTISING and how we as customers need to send a message to stop this kind of behaviour. And I think we already have.
FC is a company that was founded on lies and deciet. Just check out the old Gaute interview about the early days where he said they lied to investors to get funding for AO. He thought it was funny. With this kind of corporate culture, I'm not surprised with what happened with AoC.
I study marketing myself and business ethics is very important to me. Without the lying and deciet by FC management I would have never started this thread and would have moved on a long time ago. It's ok to be incompetent and make mediocre games, but it's NOT ok to lie and and cheat people to get them preorder and pay for beta.
