Edit: Looking good, 2 new classes, performance and stuttering being adressed, finetuning of existing classes, implementation of major changes to the chat system, more Tome unlocks, droprate and itemization updates, more incentives to engage in world RvR, server transfers, etc.

Oh boy! Good stuff. I'm glad they seem to know 100% what needs to be done. And not rush things.
But I hold great impatience and theese changes I feel I need!

No Choppa? Surely that's the class people lament most?
Excellent! So glad to see Mythic keeping on top of things... looking forward to it!

Seeing how many candy destro already has and how much greenskins are responsible for that appeal I don't think they will want to test faction ballance even more by adding Choppa's right now.
And I think the Knights of the Blazing Sun were even more lamented since humies really lacked an appealling 'knighty' tanking class.

Finally they acknowledge the stuttering issue! But ya.... where's my CHOPPA!!!!
Good thread all in all....
RIP Orc Choppa
It's already too late, I've seen server populations on WOW go from low to high just from a revision of class mechanics, 20 days till WOTLK? Warhammer has to release the new stuff before then or they're going to have a serious problem on their hands.
Two types of people playing WAR at the moment:
1. PVP players
2. People waiting for WOTLK release
I have a feeling that option 1 is a very very small base of players, as i've found literally no open rvr and very long queue times even on "full" population servers in both T2 and T3 scenarios. That said, i'm excited about item linking, and chat changes, would be nice to have a real LFG tool as well, and maybe some sort of cross server scenarios to bring queue times down to reasonable levels (i.e..5-10 mins instead of 30+)
Also we need the dwarf and orc melee! I don't like how he said "new content free of charge", these classes were in early early beta builds but were extremely buggy and unbalanced, reminds me of a saying from Tommy Boy about a steak!
You can't underestimate the vast amount of WAR players who will never, ever go back to WOW again.
A lot of those have quit WoW before WAR launched as well.

I only played WoW for about 10 days after it was released. No interest in it whatsoever.
I also play LOTRO and I know for a fact there are many from that game too along with VG, AoC and others that are still playing and intend on playing.

I couldn't disagree more.
I don't think it'll be "serious" problems in the least. Like all things "shiney and new" players flock to it. Once the newness of LK wears off... and it's the same old WoW, I think there will be a lot of people looking at how the end-game for WAR has matured. That'll draw them back. Not all, but a fair amount. WAR won't be the WoW killer, but I really think it'll be it's most potent compitition.
At the very least, they will share many many subscribers over time. While WoW has built a HUGE following over the past 4+ years, WAR has built a nice size launch following in only a month. As long as they stay on this path of improvements and additions, I think they'll be the second most popular game out there. Maybe 2-3 years form now, even eclipsing WoW. Only time will tell though.
All in all good stuff!
Anyone taht goes back to WoTLK is in for a shock, that shock being WoW just isn't where it is at. Some might, a few might stay, but most will regret that purchase of the X-Pac when they realize once again, to reach the heart of WoW they'll have to lvl to 80, compete with the thousands of DK's running around, grind factions, run the same instances 100's of times just to get gear to see the next instance, and by the time they are "good" Blizz will hve another NEW Xpac coming, demanding 40 bucks and another 8-12 months of the same BS all over again.
Or they can play WAR and kick the crap out of people and not worry about grinding gear to grind for gear to grind for gear in hopes of seeing ocntent before it's "out dated"
Always change your signature.
As a former WoW player, I disagree with you're opinion.
I think the greatest addition class wise will be the Knight of the Blazing Sun, because order lacks a classic looking tank/knight there was a flood in people going Chosen(destro), this will hopefully bring some more people on board as well as balance out the order / destro population.
Thanks for the info, woo knight of the blazing sun! (Even though I'm destro)

WOTLK will keep people's attention for how long? This is a serious... temporary... problem. I'm looking for a game to play, and enjoy, from level 1 to cap, not one that you want to rush through and max in a day. To make my point: If WAR had an XP OFF toggle, I would use it to stay in Tier 1 and Tier 2 just to savor the fun I've been having. In WoW, I paid to have my characters leveled because it sucked to grind. I wouldn't dream of that in WAR.
So, people might go back to play WOTLK, but there is a chance they'll come back once they've raided their brains out and replaced all of their old armor sets... again. Or not. Doesn't matter, there is always enough players to go around and make both games enjoyable.
These changes are good. They are a good start. I wouldn't write off a game only weeks after its release. That seems a bit premature. Actually, I think its a sign of the times. Impatience. The need for immediate rewards and results. Settle down and wait. It looks like Mythic might just know what it is doing.

Oh, and to add... Knight of the Blazing Sun? IP-wise, out of all of the possible groups of knights I just don't see how choosing this particular group makes sense. Oh well, just another one of those little IP things that bugs the crap out of me.

lol ...this post is full of irony..
what can you do in WaR? run around in the Open RvR areas solo or grind serpent until you are blue in the face.
if you like WaR over WoW thats fine..but your reasons are flawed.
you play WaR because you like it...keep it at that.
I think they chose them because they were originally supposed to be in the game... Have you seen the concepts for them? their gear looks sick. Even in game items that look like they should belong to a KBS (yeah I'm making that their shorthand deal wid it yo) look cool. I'm not saying this to bash you I'm just saying they'll probably be cool.

Yeah I see a lot of WAR fanboys trying to undermine WoW by saying it has repetetive gameplay. Pure hypocrisy.
What?
You first announced all the classes, then removed 4 of them, then at a later time adds half of what you removed, and you dare saying this gives your players more value for their money than what they get from any other MMO?
And you're even bragging about not charging for what should have been in the game at release!
Sorry, Jacobs - I had a lot of respect for you earlier, but it's all gone now!
Great stuff, all of it.
Really, they are ON it, they know what needs to be done, its great.

And you'll probably be quite surprised how many leave WAR to play DFO, AION, COS and SGW.

You wouldn't understand
He's not bragging about not charging you, he's bragging about being the first mmo to release CLASSES without them being expansion exclusive.
So for the first time ever, you can get a content patch with Classes. How incredible is that? I think it rocks and I can't wait to play the KoTBS, Empire is in dire need of some tanks.
Such great news for WAR! Knight of the blazing sun is by far and away the MOST needed class right now because Order lacks people playing tanks because so many kids refuse to play dwarfs or elves.
I'm also stoked for the black guard because I totally wanted to play one from the first day they were announced!
What a great post!

You forgot that WAR already had 20 classes at launch. 20 as in 'twenty'
They could have easily saved these new two for a future payed expansion but they promised not to and they won't.
Seeing how much work every class means for dev's, itemization, skills and balance wise, etc, I DO think that they did offer us a lot at launch. At least more then most MMO's
All fine with me, tbh.
