Edit: Looking good, 2 new classes, performance and stuttering being adressed, finetuning of existing classes, implementation of major changes to the chat system, more Tome unlocks, droprate and itemization updates, more incentives to engage in world RvR, server transfers, etc.

This is what happens when you push an unfinished product out the door to beat the rivals expansion.

Unfinished product?  My mother on Mt. Everest.

WAR was a whole game at launch; every major game feature they promised was in. They cut out 4 out of 24 classes, 4 cities and thought again about some minor mechanics like your character changing appearance / size / color over the time while you level it.

Does this make the game feel any less whole?

Nope. If they hadn't planned those things and we hadn't known about them we wouldn't ever have whined about them not being in.

This is no WOW without battlegrounds at launch, this is no AOC without a PVP / point / reward system or major game features which are broken like sieging.

The amount of issues and bugs at WAR's launch are laughable compared to most other mmo's, content wise Mythic delivered and all aspects of the game worked and were ready for us to enjoy.

And now that they are adding stuff that was left out (as if other games didn't), listening to the community and fixing bugs at a very high pace,... people are still whining about it.

Lol .. just get a life, guys ...and have us enjoy our game and discuss this awesome State of the Game address :D

Especially Hero Classes.  People have not only had to wait 4 years for this feature (that was supposed to be in at launch) but now have to pay for it as well.

That's the typical WAR fanboy, always comparing against releases that were ages ago, and especially WoW. This is 2008, not 2004.

And Jacobs talks about "KEEP giving players more value..", Which means he's talking about present time and future, and not the situation several years ago. Therefore, you have to compare with other games in their present state, and for those of you who always compare against WoW, that includes TBC with all it's patches. Heck, you'll even have to add WotLK to that list, since WAR's 2 next classes comes later.

Once again missing the point.  World of Warcraft is adding in cut content and charging for it.

Warhammer Online is adding in cut content and not charging for it.

World of Warcraft is adding in that cut content 4 years after launch.

Warhammer Online is adding it in 3 months after launch.

And once again it's more important for you to bash WoW instead of commenting on my main point.

    This whole discussion about whether it's honest or not to make a big fuss and pat yourself on the back for adding content which didn't make launch a few months later, is missing one big key argument;

Ask yourself the following question; if, by whatever reason, you would leave out content at the launch of your mmo and add it a few months later as a free update, would you or would you not grab that opportunity to do some good ol' marketing and praise the game and your own commitment?

I know I would. And those who wouldn't should really get a clue.

As if Blizzard didn't chant from the highest towers when their battlegrounds were implemented ...

As if Funcom didn't make a big deal about their awesome pvp patch.

In the case of WAR Mythic's cheering is even more merrited since the lacking content wasn't a major game feature left out, but extra stuff; extra classes, extra cities. The game was and is whole without them so we can only be damn glad that they are starting to add it on such a short notice (and for free).

That they use this moment to do some sollid marketing is totally obvious and the smart thing to do.

    Go Mythic!

    Ehmm.. what?

2 races without a tank, that's nothing major, and the game is whole without them?

Not to mention 67% of the cities, and therefore a huge chunk of the endgame...

And once again all you do is Bash WAR.  Why are you even here on the WAR boards?  Go back to WoW and enjoy it.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Like I said: extra stuff. Or 'more of what's already in it' if you will. (as opposed to; totally lacking game features in other games, like I wrote before).

2 races without a tank is not game breaking since you still get to pick between two tank classes at each faction, (20 classes already, remember?)

The cities of two racial pairings might not yet be in it, but the tier 4 zones are all there to be fought over. I do hope that the cities will be added soon as well, but we have yet to see how endgame pans out on a server with a healthy pop of 40's on both sides.

It will be one big war over every tier 4 (with the focus on human - chaos ofc.)

My guess is that there will be plenty to do until they add the cities and that they are careful not to have people run out of content any time soon.

Perhaps that even is one of the reasons they left out some cities; they might scale up the others in difficulty to give us a new challenge at a later stage. Who knows?

OP, it's useless arguing with people who what ever you say will remain in thier negative state of mind...always complaining.

The coming months will be very exciting and I'll probably roll an alt to play with guildies rolling a KOTBS.

    Have fun with that, mate. I'll be lurking somewhere in T3 to await 'dem shiny humies arival'. And greet them with a little bit of Gork. >:{}

  • It's gonna be funny to see the entire Tier 1 zone filled with Knights of the BS.

I don't really understand the Knights role description of "hanging back from the fray and giving orders," but I'm curious to see it in action. I guess it's basically a tank with lots of area buffs and debuffs. Maybe he will have something like GW ranger target arrow, to direct group fire on a target. A Knight who knows what he's doing could make a big difference.
