I am giving you a bump Pezz, since you are a fellow gamer. I am a crafter and 9/10 is too high score, but with latest crafting upgrades in patch 3.0 I think it is a solid 8/10.
Tell me, what is so good about crafting? Have they done any major changes to it?
When I did crafting I thought it was the worst part of AoC. I mean clicking some rock or a tree a thousand times to get some rare materials? Can it get any more boring then that? If I didn't know about resource collecting in AoC and someone told me about it, I wouldn't believe him and I would think he was joking.
But then again I'm not a big fan of crafting in any shape or form.
No I am not saying crafting is so great. I am just looking on what Pezzbomb said. He said that him as well did not fancy that crafting system too much, thats why he gives the game 9/10 for anyone that likes crafting as opposed to 10/10. I myself say AoC is a solid 8/10.
Crafting has however become much better just for the reason that they replaced some of the redundant reciepies, and introduced new really interesting recipies. These reciepies relies more on other crafting professions also which will make collaboration on item making more important. Finally, there is also a better structure and plan to their crafting with that whole, basic, culture and guild armor/weapon thing going. That's why I think it is getting better, besides that the game just continues to get more and more polished like with this funny metal sound you got when cutting tree, that is now cutting wood sound again (hehe), and so on and so on.
PS: I hope they change that crafting book to something better looking in future.

I played WOW and I did not like it. It was boring... That's all there is to this. I do simply not play a game because everybody else do, and neither should you by the way, I play a agme only when it's fun.
Why even compare AoC and wow when it comes to content and end game, one has been out for a few years and one is rather new, i really doubt any new mmo can cater to the end game 1 month after launch at least beyond some basic zones, if you where to start playing everquest today you will have more content than you can shake 4 sticks at, almost to much even, but when it launched back in 99 i bet the same could be said for end game then, on the other hand leveling back then was not exactly fast.
Don't think i have played any mmo that i feel lack content so far, but then again i rarely stay with one char, bit like only playing one class on alliance in wow, sort of miss out on half the game.
As for wow everquest is a lot better and has 15 expansions so end game content is plentiful to say the least, at this point for me as a non raider i don't even know what progress path to start working on since there are so many.
I do think the tradeskills are a bad thing in AoC, if nothing else cause you can't start from lvl 1, at 42 in wow my lock has 315 engineering, priest has 300 tailoring and so on, fun tradeskills like in eq2,vanguard adds another dimension to the game, everquest is okey to but failing combines that are way trivial sure suck since it can cost you a lot of cash to get the components.
I don't see myself as a fanboi myself, sure i play both aoc and ao and i enjoy both, as for the aoc rating i don't care if they give it a 1/10 or 10/10 if you don't like the game it makes no difference, take ffxi for instance has been given okey review scores and many seem to love it, me i hate the controlls so much i can't stand playing it
trammel was getting on for 10 years ago so its the older gamers that remember it better. The game was a little before I got into mmo's because at that time our dial up internet was pay by the minute which doesn't suit mmo gaming at all. ironically since many here may concider me a hater (though I'm not) my first mmo that I really got into was funcoms anarchy online. That game has one of the best character development systems that any game has ever had, of course it was a bit overcomplicated but it was so deep.
I am giving you a bump Pezz, since you are a fellow gamer. I am a crafter and 9/10 is too high score, but with latest crafting upgrades in patch 3.0 I think it is a solid 8/10.
Not really sure a thread that was second from the top needed a bump but anyway...

Especially with how useless gear is in this game there is just no sensible reason to go to the effort to take up crafting now over just getting a quick easy set of gear from epic kesh.
The gem dupe should have been fixed within 24 hours of it becomeing common knowledge and then gems should have been nerfed to a sensible level, not to something like 5% of their previous strength making a crafted blue with 3 gems struggle to compete with a droped green.
Gems in this game have been an unacceptable disaster and the people who delt with the dupe and the people that worked on the gem system, it's user friendlyness, the gem crafing leveling and the strength of the gems were either completly incompetant and should have been fired or simply given no time to implement a system properly. What they have done with gems is one of the most embarassing performances from developers I've witnessed in 7 or 8 years of MMO's.
I'm at a complete loss to understand how anyone could be so completly terrible at their job.
Low standard man, very low. I have high standards, and I rate AoC 3/10, which is higher than it deserves if I start to mention the lies and scams and service in general.
On the other side, there is one MMO that deserves the high score of 8/10, and that is World of Warcraft. Best MMO there is to this date.
High standards and giving 8/10 for Disney type MMO?
I won't argue about dislike of AoC(still think 7/10 would be fair enough) , but giving 8/10 to game that is designed for 10 y/o kinda puts down any reality in other grades
I assume Hellokitty would be 7/10 in your book?
Im curently playing wow and am 39 years old. Im in a guild of about 80 members with an average age of 30.
What I love about people stating wow is for 10 y/o kids are probably only 12 themselves.
Agreed wow does has a younger player base than most MMO's. But it does not mean that it caters for them only. The reason Im still playing wow is its by far the best mmo out there to date. It has a lot of short fallings, but not as many as aweful games like AoC dressed up looking pretty but no substance underneath.
Give me something to do in an mmo other than looking at the pretty pixels.
Well i am 40, and i did spent month and half in WoW, which i can call surely waste of the money for me.I was in "Hardcore" guild and we pretty much did everything there.Game is patheticaly simplistic in several aspects, classes, crafting , raids, just name it.So yeah it does cater to younger public, 10 and up.
I found it boring , dry and not challenging whatsoever. Maybe we got different interest in what we want from game(MMO) , mine is to have little bit of challenge with elaborate(if not complicated ) crafting that doesn't consist from rubbing hands and creating BP out of nothing. WoW doesn't contains any of that for me, but people have different view of what challenge is for them.
For me game is an insult to my inteligence(since there is no need to use any).
I, for one don't want to pay for "instant gratification" type of games that are full of immaturity. And i don't need nice "pixels" either , but i would still rather play FFXI then WoW because there is something to do, despite really hating SOGA(anime) characters.
AoC is similar in that regard(no challenge leveling wise) , so i don't see why would grade differ that much, granted it should be at least 1 grade down from WoW due to no expansions.
I wouldn't say that is same level of gamming quality and complexity like EQ and DAoC were in their time, but neither is WoW. Or good as Eve at present time.
At least combat in AoC (far from perfect) is not 3 button combo "i win " type, and graphics don't remind me on time when my favorite movies were Bugs Bunny cartoons.
I look on AoC as a decent (not great) online version of NWN2.If i like some game , for some reason , i will playing disregarding if there is 11 or 11 millions playing it.
P.S.
if that's gonna make you feel better , my son is turning 5 in few weeks , and i am getting him WoW so he can learn basics of MMO before he moves to real things.

You must be a real pro to finish everything wow offered in a month and a half....either that or your talking crap.
Dont get me wrong wow is far from perfect. I still think it gives the best PVE raidwise of any game out there....and unlike you ive played them all. WoW does what it says on the tin, unlike many other mmo's which just pretend too.
Saying all that though im still searching for my perfect mmo. I thought I had found it in swg until the abhorent mess up SOE provided.
So if there are any developers out there give me my perfect mmo please that would tax my brain...it should consist of. - --
SWG crafting and open worlds.
SWG towns, player shops, player housing.
WOW raid dungeons
AoC graphics (but not too good to need instancing everywhere)
ps Hope this makes you feel better. My 13 year old son has never gone anywhere near an mmo. And I dont want him too. I encourage him to go out play sports and ultimately enjoy life like I did. Only when you've done all there is to do, then waste hours playing an mmo.
When I read the OP I first tried to scroll down looking for the "Gotcha!" "Just kidding!", then doublechecked the OP title to make sure he was refering to AoC.
Now I just smell the marketing damage control dept. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the OP is just a HUGE Fanboi
Your article would have been better accepted without that totally ridiculas rating.

Check the post history of Pezzbomb. It's easy to see he's one of the main viral marketers/shills ruining these forums.
Man, I wish there would be a way to get rid of these people but there just isn't. It's too easy for anyone to make an account and write lies all day long.
They should have a forum where you have to use your credit card number to register or something. Of course only problem with a system like that would be that nobody would use it

Well, I think this was his goodbyepost really. Probably not the only AoC fan driven off these boards due to abuse and other nonsens from juveniles with FailCom logo.
Naaaaah he'll still be around posting nonsensical scores for the game ....I mean AOC 10/10 and AOC Crafting 9/10...come on the Crafting must be worst I've ever seen in any game ...and thats not trolling
Bearsham I appreciate a realistic view of the game but those kind of " perspectives " actually are just annoying and he loses credibility whenever he embellishes his posts about the game
Well, I think this was his goodbyepost really. Probably not the only AoC fan driven off these boards due to abuse and other nonsens from juveniles with FailCom logo.
Don't worry he'll be back. But probably with a different name and different personality. Pezzbomb was "new subscriber who loved AoC more than any game ever!". Next we'll probably see a "veteran MMO player who thinks AoC is the best game ever and who just joined forums". He will tell us how much the game has improved since launch and how it's a complitely different game now.
These cute attempts to spam the boards with overly positive information cannot make up for the outflow of subscribers based on the game. One may perhaps be able to keep their small free to play MMO with 3 staff alive though an aggressive online forum campaign but it surely won't work to keep 320ish people employed.

"veteran subscriber who loved AOC more than any game ever "
that is funny and true ... I have to say that these forums often make me laugh with the comments

Yes in the same way lumache would be banned and just come back with another set of BS posting profiles. lol.. I am giving the guy a bump because AoC is a very good game. 10/10 you can't obviously take serious, but AoC is certainly up there. I easily give it a 8/10.

Things lumache says actually make sense. I usually agree with him. I suggest you try read his posts sometimes instead of attacking him or others personally. I know it pisses you off that 90% of people left your game but don't worry, it's all going to be over soon and you can move on.
Oh and I think AoC is a very mediocre game. I easily give it 6/10. For pvp I give it 5/10.

LMAO,
Bearshammy ,i bet the only reason you love this game is because the Bear Shaman is the most powerful class in the game.
That class was pretty tuff to begin with , but after the gem nerf Bear Shamans were almost unbeatable in pvp.

Join date tell very much about a poster. In particular when a guy have been in MMORPG in 2 days and posted +50 AoC related posts all of the very very doomish, in a way that reveals that there is no interest at all from the posters side to discuss the game. It's posting driven my other agendas.
This is why I take note of join dates. Also another thing. Typical hyperposters, like yourself, also seem to appear in this forum when other hyperposters Vanish. If I was to pull my tinfoil hat on I would say lumache that got banned about the 29th of October now has reappeared as the russian/finish poster Polikarkov.

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not lumache. Even a blind fanboi can see we have two totally different styles of writing. I do however have a similar style to some of the other posters we've seen here in the past and that is because they were written by the same guy. I never said I'm a "new guy" here. Sometimes shit happens, and names change but my personality and opinions stay the same.
However I'm not trolling. Just look at my post history if you want. I don't just say "AOC SUX!". I have a point (well usually at least) and I like to talk about facts. You on the other hand mostly like to attack other posters which is not cool.

MMO's has a long way to go, but I do find Age of Conan to be the best option by fare at this time. Patch 3.0 was also an awesome adition to the game.
Ronald McDonald says he really likes Big Macs and they get better every day. Shocking huh

SHOHADAKU

"after the time of dice came the day of mice "

I don't know him personally but I've read many of his posts. By the way, why are you always obsessed with join dates? You think that is real life "character level" or something?

These posters that spamme de forum also keep posting the same error stuff so it is ieasy to see that the same trolles have many differente face.
