As i have said many times before , and will many times again, look at ALL the mmorpgs that were in development for around 5 years and STILL get releases HALF finished ....Half Finished !!! ( oh but its ok cause it didn't take 8 years), if they had the chance to make their game actually ready for a release they would all be in the same exact boat as DF , except they are from much bigger developers.

Funny thing.. any game out playable right now offers more than Darkfall does.
90 percent of the people out there will curl up into the fetal position and hit cancel. After all the years of WoWesque spoon feeding, I doubt most players will do anything but meltdown the first time they get ganked and all their gear taken from them. Solo players, you will have no home here, youll get manhandled by guilds that roll with lots of numbers. Thats how it works in FFA pvp, go take a look at shadowbane, perfect example, very little room for the solo players, you are just fodder for the people who are smarter and rove in groups. I expect most of these "fans" will quit sooner than later, provided it actually releases in some playable form.

Yes, and that's why it's draw will mostly be on first generation MMO players. It's not catering to generation Y ( WOW players). All this game needs is 200 to 300k., about what UO had at it's peak before the masses who where introduced to MMO's via WOW knew what MMO's were, since they were still all under 10 years old.
Pc gaming mid to late 1980's and most the 1990's was a realm of the middle to upper class gamer. It really wasn't for many working class because of the price of a decent gaming Pc then, and the price, pace of maintain it with upgrades before the next major upgrade was too expensive for them. Package Pc's and the cost of decent hardware becoming more affordable post 2000 has changed all that, opening up Pc gaming to the mentality of your average working class console gamer.

TF2 we're playing now didn't take 8 years to develop. Team Fortress 2 first got half made as something more common with the Battlefield series. Development then stopped and the project was put on the shelf while they developed Half Life 2. The TF2 we're now playing had a far shorter development cycle and was a total start from scratch,. The source engine is the result of building an engine for the first team fortress 2 concept, they then went on to develop HL2 with it. TF2 we play now was started not long after HL2 release.

I wonder how well it would sell without a beta. They have been leading people on for so many years, to release game live without an open beta, how many would just throw their money at it. I know I would not because I do not trust their company anymore. Too many lies over the years.
If the game is bad, and they know it, probably would be their best bet to just get as many initial sales as possible, but if they think they have at least a decent game, I think an open beta is a must. I guess we will see what happens. I highly doubt game will be released in December (of this year anyway), but it is possible. That would be an awfully short beta test if it does, no chance to really fix anything for a small operation as it is.

I however expect this to be a niche game at best, all the things that made WoW popular wont be a part of it.
Yes, and that's why it's draw will mostly be on first generation MMO players. It's not catering to generation Y ( WOW players). All this game needs is 200 to 300k., about what UO had at it's peak before the masses who where introduced to MMO's via WOW knew what MMO's were, since they were still all under 10 years old.
Pc gaming mid to late 1980's and most the 1990's was a realm of the middle to upper class gamer. It really wasn't for many working class because of the price of a decent gaming Pc then, and the price, pace of maintain it with upgrades before the next major upgrade was too expensive for them. Package Pc's and the cost of decent hardware becoming more affordable post 2000 has changed all that, opening up Pc gaming to the mentality of your average working class console gamer.
What in the hell are you talking about? Commodore 64s were like $399 and were one of the better gaming machines of therir time. How about the Apple IIgs? Amiga?? None of that shit was expensive. Lay off the crack dude.

IF this game is going to be all they promise us it will be, then why the rabid defense?
If you are confident about something you ignore the naysayers, but obviously since the fanbois cannot stop defending it, obviously they harbor some doubts as well.

TF2 we're playing now didn't take 8 years to develop. Team Fortress 2 first got half made as something more common with the Battlefield series. Development then stopped and the project was put on the shelf while they developed Half Life 2. The TF2 we're now playing had a far shorter development cycle and was a total start from scratch,. The source engine is the result of building an engine for the first team fortress 2 concept, they then went on to develop HL2 with it. TF2 we play now was started not long after HL2 release.

Doesn't matter at all when used as a comparison to Darkfall.
All that matters is the time that TF2 first started being developed in any form till the time it went gold.
Thats it. Since DF is being argued to have been in development for 8 years under the same criteria of when it was first announced to present day.

I wonder how well it would sell without a beta. They have been leading people on for so many years, to release game live without an open beta, how many would just throw their money at it. I know I would not because I do not trust their company anymore. Too many lies over the years.
If the game is bad, and they know it, probably would be their best bet to just get as many initial sales as possible, but if they think they have at least a decent game, I think an open beta is a must. I guess we will see what happens. I highly doubt game will be released in December (of this year anyway), but it is possible. That would be an awfully short beta test if it does, no chance to really fix anything for a small operation as it is.

Naah. We bash THIS "game" because there are more than enough reasons to do so. First beta should have started 3.5 years ago, only half a dozen ppl making it, etc, etc, etc.
