Not one provides all, therefore I highly doubt they will state it out in the public that they are using an obvious inferior engine. Don't know if it's Torque or another but really the video and animations seem to be very low standard and it would make sense, in such a small and inexperienced company. Let's wait until the shit hits the fan, it will be epic
Graphics and animations are only deal breakers in AAA clones. The more unique of an experience you can offer, the more you can get away with visually. Everyone I know whos waiting on this game main concern is playabilty. For instance my first and only 10 minutes in Dark and light were spent stuck in a staircase. If they have the features working and the game is playable (not stuck in a staircase ect..)..my friends and I will make this game our Virtual home..and we will leave the rest of this Industry to milk the same features they've been milking for 5 years now.
Do i think DF will release and be playable with working features? Honestly..no. However i do hope and even let myself beleive sometimes. The worst that could happen is Im disappointed. OH NO!! Also, the gold farming indusrty is against this style of game and will try to see it fail IMO. You can only release games that have their blessing (appearently:) And (appearently) publishers seek their blessing. Im just BS'ing here obviously:)

Trust me the only thing similar is the walking. I own realm crafter and there is no way the darkfall team could make the game with it. Realm Crafter does not have the graphical capability to handle a game that looks like Darkfall. I am not saying Darkfall has amazing graphics but its graphics are far beyond realm crafter. Maybe they could be done when the new DX 9 update comes out for Realmcrafter which super enhances the graphics, but that has been in the making for years now and still has no real ETA.

Only 1 core Engine powers a game . But ya there's different plugins for an engine to handle stuff like physics and animations, networking etc..

To answer your question no it isn't possible the Devs are using Realmcrafter or Torque. Wether you choose to believe it or not it's up to you but Aventurine has stated they built there own engine. From what I have seen so far I consider there engine to be far superior to Torque or Realmcrafter.
As for those saying DF would have had to lease an engine due to limited Budget, 10mil+ has already been spent developing DarkFall, they recieved an additional 20mil not that long ago.

Mortal Online, or any other game that uses an engine as top-heavy and bulky as the Unreal III engine, will either limit the player to small-scale battles or lag during a large-scale battle at the framerate of a powerpoint presentation.
Scalability is key here. The Darkfall devs have stated that they want this game to be accessable to low-spec players, not just the technologically UB4R-L337. Jumpgate Evolution is stated to have the same mentality.

The graphics engine has been kept minimal to reduce lag during large-scale battles - This has been stated by the devs more than once. Feel free to find those quotes yourself because I'm not doing the work for you.
Mortal Online, or any other game that uses an engine as top-heavy and bulky as the Unreal III engine, will either limit the player to small-scale battles or lag during a large-scale battle at the framerate of a powerpoint presentation.
Scalability is key here. The Darkfall devs have stated that they want this game to be accessable to low-spec players, not just the technologically UB4R-L337. Jumpgate Evolution is stated to have the same mentality.

I found out the person listed as Darkfall AI programmer in 2004 is a Torque SDK owner and he was talking about working on Darkfall on the Torque SDK forums back in 2004, then in 2005 the first Alpha video was “leaked”.

Its interesting stuff and its makes you think, I personally think there’s a chance the first Alpha video was made using Torque but I doubt very much they are currently using it for the actual game, at least I hope they are not.

I guess what's so mystrious to me is...here you have a game that seemingly will launch in December and not one person outside the company or beta testers has seen or been able to play or report on the game.Very odd indeed.
