The "stop UK and other EU players having to play apart thread"

Well as most of you guys will know the chances of UK players and other EU players playing together are very slim,I thought I would start this thread just too show the devs how much this is a bad idea and how we want to have ALL european players on the same servers.

Please sign if you feel the same or at least support the idea.

Thanks guys.

This game has it's own forum and website, I think it's better to post this there

  • daylight01daylight01 Member Posts: 2,250

I am aware of that,I am also aware this sort of thread would be closed there!

Further more I am very aware the devs check this site so it would still make a statement.

Said the same on the official boards IP Blocking is a horrendous idea, why would I want my play limited to people who are 6-9hours behind/ahead of me - absolutly ridiculous.

If this is not addressed I won't be giving this game a chance, I only need to wait a little while until: Earthrise, Darkfall, and Aion come out where I will be able to actually play with people in my own frackin' timezone.

And tbh this is exactly where this thread belongs as it would just get locked on the official forums, and also to forewarn any UK/EU people who were thinking of buying the game to play together!

Just to clarify IP Blocking is NOT written in stone yet....chances are it MOST LIKELY will be implemented come launch - its only with threads like these that the crappy choices devs make will have a hope in being changed.

So yea my advice if the IP Blocking affects you or your guilds gameplay - stay away until there is official word that it will be changed. Shame really as TCoS really did look promising. Lets hope the Devs wake up and smell the poop they've smeared on themselves.

I would like to petition the Devs with our issues but first I would like to see who woud join us!

    1. NA servers will mean UK players with suffer with time lapses and Lag issues.

    2. Unless there is 24 hour GM support - we'd be logging out as they logged in.

    3. Same iwth the community - we'd be toddlig off to bed as they began to play

4.We are separated from a community already built on the forums and through other games as we presumed, being part of the EU officially, we would be included in the EU server list.

The UK as a seperate server would struggle through lack of gamers, so this is not feasable either.

I feel quite rejected at the moment, I've supported this game on the forums, promoting the hard work being done, jollying on the people who were tiring of waiting. I've promoted the game with my friends and other gamers I know and feel like somehow we're not good enough.

I know there are others who share these thoughts so can people keep it clean but add your name on the list and clearly state any other particular issue you have with the proposed server split.

  • daylight01daylight01 Member Posts: 2,250

I agree with Foofea I dont want this thread to turn into a "slanging"match, keep it clean guys!

Just post your thoughts and/or worries.

The devs do read this forum,I know that for sure so make it worth while,

    thanks again.

Not true, alot of the older mmos pre wow and horizons, before this whole world segregation crap started are still running perfectly well for both EU, US and asian players with little or no lag. The EU people I know that play in the US wow servers, have less lag then when they played on the EU servers.
    2. Unless there is 24 hour GM support - we'd be logging out as they logged in.
can't really argue much there,  24 hour GM support or atleast close to it is a must.
    3. Same iwth the community - we'd be toddlig off to bed as they began to play
Personally I think joined servers for people all over the world is better for the community. The servers will always be populated, basicly be no off peak hours, meaning you'll always be able to find someone to group with, rp with ect. no matter the time.
4.We are separated from a community already built on the forums and through other games as we presumed, being part of the EU officially, we would be included in the EU server list.

Personally I'm an advocate for non segregated servers, I don't play mmo's to play with the guy down the street, but to play with people from all over the world. Some of my fondest mmo memories are form meeting people from all around the globe and just talking like we'd bumped into eachother at the mall.

I hate the trend wow and horizons started, because it means that i'm not able to play any new mmo with any of the people I met in games like SWG, FFXI, SL, E&B, EVE ect.

IMO deviding EU and US in what ever way they do hurts the community, take WAR as a perfect example, EU servers are all but deserted, while US servers are going strong.

yes I know I went alittle off topic, =p

Being a non-uk european, I find this move from tcos beyond stupidity. I cant even start to imagine what went through their heads when they decided this... I mean, I would like to hear their pros and cons for this move!

As I said, as a non-Uk european who doesnt speak german or french, we need them... If the UK players wont be able to join the EU community, I will surly miss them. They are a great addition to any mmo community.

    Please stay on topic,

If you have other worries about this game/mmo's in general then start a new thread this is about the topic thread.

    Thanks.

In the past I have thought that US/EU split was bad but this is insane....if I cannoy join my fellow europeans then I will not be signing up for this one.

    This is most disappointing

  • meriqmeriq Member Posts: 1

EU/US splits are annoying, but the timezone difference is so big its not really a big deal. UK not being able to play with the rest of Europe is just plain dumb.

It seems UK, Spain and Italy (amoung others) are also excluded from Open Beta

  • talismen351talismen351 Member Posts: 1,124

Being Canadian, altho the split doesn't affect me, I totally agree with the OP. England is part of Europe. Makes no sence to why these players would hafta play on servers with ppl from many hours behind em. Would be like sticking Canada servers with Europe...makes no sence. I would prolly not even bother playing if I knew that when I logged on most ppl will not be on till I am long off to work/sleep.

I think letting acclaim do this is a very poor idea on the part of the CoS team.  Should be worldwide release at the same time. Or at the very most a couple weeks difference...but this couple months thing is poor planning.

I've been trying to rally interest in this game amongst my guild in another game, the majority are european, I thought I was european...but sadly not as far as Spellborn goes . Real shame it looks an interesting game.

Im really, really trying to figure out what went through their mind when they thought this up..

Is it because in Great britain you speak english..? If yes, that would be insanity and stupidious.

And about latency and community, currently im playing Eq2 with a guild that's practically only Staters, and most of the community aswell, but they are often online for me at the evenings/nights. And i don't mean after 12 <<

Sure, more action heats up after twelve but meh, there are still players around to chit-chat with.

And i have no latency issues when playing.

Ro on the other hand was horrifying, i could have huge lagspikes whenever i played, but im just blaming Gravity for that :-p

Im sad that i won't be able to play with the people from the Uk. In my experience they have the weirdest and somewhat best humor you can get. And you gotta love the accent :-p

I'll go peek on the boards later when i wake up, hopefully lots of people on the TCOS boards are really making a big fuss about this.

    Cheers

    Playing Darkfall EU1 Server

I didnt know about this and I was going to suggest this game to people I usually play MMO's with. Some of them are from the UK, while others are from all over the rest of Europe. I just cant believe this. Loads of guilds that transfer from MMO to MMO have players from all over Europe or even the whole world. What idiot would come up with the idea of even dividing up Europe for a game??

  • DameonkDameonk Member UncommonPosts: 1,914

I'm American and I think this is a horrible move.  I hate when developers put artificial limitations on OUR choices because they think they know what is "best" for their players.

It's things like this that are early warning signs that the developers don't care about their players.

I've been looking forward to TCoS for years, but if this IP banning stays in place, I won't even be playing the trial.

Actually the Devs have nothing to do with this at all. The publishers are the ones makeing this desicion. Its all about the money really fogster doesent want to lose customers to acclaim and vice versa.

I am aware of this,as is alot of gammers.

I think in turn you are aware when they sell the rights (as they are an independant company)they agree on the terms of the agreement and things like this small thing"lol"would have been talked about.

At least you tried to turn it.

Yeah, it is annoying. But off course there is an easy way out of this, as far as I get it they will block certain IPs. www.hide-my-ip.com/ This will mask your IP as an american one, Problem solved.

Still, bloody Acclaim, I should be the one deciding which server to play, not Blizzard, Acclaim, NC soft, Mythic or FunCom.

Here there is really only a few companies that stand out, and in the top is actually SOE. A lot of people hate them, particulary the old SWG players, but in this thing they are the best company there is.

We should bloody demand to be able to play on which ever servers we chose, if the connection gets slower, then it is my bloody problem, not theirs. But this isn't just about Spellborn, this is about most MMOs on the market.

I would appreciate it when people would stop telling lies about the Spellborn forum policies.

Apart form that, an extra thread here can never hurt the good cause.

However, it has been stated that Mindscape will not perform any IP blocking. I hope I do not need to explain to you guys what that means.

    Thanks Daylight.

Yes, the publishers made this decision, but the development company agreed to the terms.  The agreement is bad.  I really think that TCoS will now have less subscribers than they would have if they self published and just offered a direct download service with no IP banning.

I strongly feel that agreeing to the IP banning from Acclaim and Frogster is going to hurt the game more than help it.

I know it's probably too late now.  I'm sure that Spellborn has already signed a binding contract with the different distribution companies.  Too bad, I was really looking forward to this game.

Oh well, I guess Aion isn't far away.

You have a link to that statement? I read inthe official forum that nothing was certain just a litle while ago.

But as I said earlier, there are ways to come around it anyways.
