I must admit I've been getting progressively bored with WoW, Just can't seem to get much fun out of it anymore - both before and after trying WotLK. I will however keep playing till my sub expires in Feb, if only to level all 3 of my chars to 80.

Sick of playing Entropia Universe? Want to quit, but don't want your hard earned money to vanish? Give your items to ME :-)

now, you have your basic starting stable subscribers, and you know how many of each faction will be on each servers...so

now you can merge servers to help balance the factions safely

Except for the fact that Mark Jacobs himself said it's not a good sign....

"According to Jacobs, another way to measure success is to look at the number of servers a game has added in a six-month period. “The corollary to that is if you’ve seen a game consolidate servers, you know it’s in deep, deep trouble — that’s not a healthy sign for an MMO,” he said, citing Sony’s January-released “Pirates of the Burning Sea” as a recent example. “It will be the same for ‘Warhammer.’ Look at us six months out. Look at us six weeks out. If we’re not adding servers, we’re not doing well.”

    http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/08/29/ea-mythic-activision-world-of-warcraft-estimate-is-overblown/

    I love that quote.

For the record.  Warhammer has gone from 65 servers the first week down to 30 servers now.  Not only were they not 'adding' servers at the 6 week point, they were already making announcements about the server merges.

Meanwhile, in the 4 weeks since Wrath has been launched, Blizzard has added 26 new servers (that is for a game that is 4 years old).

Not really, I'm paying $60AUD, may as well make it count...

I dont disbelieve you but I've only heard about 1 new PVE server, Grizzly Hills

if Blizzard added more, that's good to hear

Why keep playing something that bores you, even if you have a month or two left on your subscription?

You're either addicted, not as bored as you think, or enjoy paying for an expensive chat server.

Don't post a mood on the internet.

The quests are the same old stuff, and although there's some cutscene bits, it's the same gather xp by doing pointless stuff that I've seen before. There's no decent PVP, and I miss the tactics and immediate PVP from Warhammer, where I levelled by doing a rotation of scenarios while questing and doing PQ stages.
I'll continue to 80 and farm Naxx 25man, Malygos and Sart with my old guild for a bit. They've already killed every boss in the game and I'll just pick up the epics when I get there, but for now I find the expansion to be a boring, easy and soulless cash-cow.

War did not have all conent cleared in 3 days from release ( yes achievments may not be all done but they are just a cheap tome of knowledge anyway with no reason other than bragging rights)
It is not still balancing classes after 4+ years, They created new ideas and did not steal all their ideas from previous games.  Server maintenence problems still after 4+ years with the same problems?
So 11 million subs..... ok got WAR there, millions of people followed Hitler did not make them right or better than anyone else so please tell me how WOW is better than WAR?

11 Million subscriptions is a result of people enjoying a game and word of mouth being positive about the gameplay.  Ask most people who play/played WoW and they say it is a fun game.

Selling 1.2 million box copies and having to merge half of your servers in 2 months, because you can't retain people is a result of boring unfinished game play.  Warhammer didn't have content cleared shortly after release, because no one tested it.  The end game system is broken and doesn't function properly.  As someone else said the design is pants on head retarded.  A game that highlights large scale open world PvP requires people to hide in instances and grind PvE content.... pants on head retarded is accurate.  Even the crazy fans of the games before release are gone.  You don't see many of them talking about how awesome Warhammer is going to be anymore do you?  Nope, what you hear now is "patch 1.1 should fix things and hopefully get the game back in order, then people will come back".

Also, you invoked Hitler on the interweb, you lose.

everyone leaving warhammer is actually a result of the game being very buggy in the first month so they left for WoW which has been out for ages and has very little problems. So the people couldn't be arsed to wait and see if warhammer would be better.

I believe WoW when it was released was utter crap and was almost unplayable so WAR was going in the right direction its just that no one wanted to be patient.

Who care about what happened 3-4 years ago, atm there are many mmo out there which mostly cost u same price, $15. Just pick up one or two that worth your money. Why have to care about history?

    2 seasons gladiator, warlord pre-tbc

WoW PVP doesn't take skill, it just takes habit and some twitch gaming for clutch blinds / kicks / deadly throws, and the willingness to chase pillar humping druids for 20 minutes 100 times a week (god arena is so dull)

Warhammer PVP is far superior, it's actually armies fighting armies, with tanks pushing front lines of melee while casters and healers spread on a backline and watch out for stealthers, there's more tactics, more group play and just more FUN -

Remember "fun"? What PVP was before we were mana burning healers until they went oom so we could win yet another boring rated arena match.

WoW is just about battlegrounds and arena, and it's a boring, done-it-1000-times-before format :)

I'm pretty sure you get *some* honor for killing the enemy leaders and there's an achievement with mount reward for killing the enemies leaders as well.

Also, you don't influence anything on a permanent basis in WAR, it's all just temporary. A year from now it'll all be exactly the same (safe a redesign by Mythic)

Regarding the rewards for killing faction leaders:

    www.wowhead.com/

WAR environment is pretty static as well and at least more static than WoW. The phasing has a profound effect on the world and can't be easily dismissed due to blinded fanboysm (asumming of course we're not talking to a paid employee).

WAR is about scenaros all the way up to T4. Hopefully the changes of the new patch will turn WAR 100% from an instance battleground game to the open world PvP game it was advertised to be. Until then, talking about fire in th neightboor house when your own is on fire is not very smart.

Fun is when you struggle to defend your keep from that band of siegewagons rumbling in through your broken walls and just barely hold to win the fight.

Fun is fighting strong opponents with your team and have a team coordinate so well you can take on any class combo that comes up to you and adjust to those situations to whatever the opposite team throws at you.

Fun is ... ow sorry, what were you talking about again?

Ow tanks pushing frontlines with casters and healers spread on a backline and keeping eyes out for stealthers so they don't nab the objectives behind you?  Ow sorry, that's AV not WAR.

Are you sure you remember fun? Because you sure play WoW a lot for a game you haven't had fun in for years apparently. And *why* exactly did you play Wotlk when you had such an amazing *other* game to keep you busy again? Ow right... you're full of it .. my bad :)

    haha no :)

Toy car pewpew game in wintergrasp is nothing like a proper pvp siege. Go farm tenacity buff in your carebear little siege instance and one-shot the lolkids and housewives who play WoW

Arena is dull, and doesn't take much skill apart from not getting bored of doing the same thing over and over again in a box with pillars (and now without pillars!)

Now imagine lines of tanks with shields, deflecting the damage from arrows and fireballs for their entire front line with hold the line and shield wall and guard on a melee dps, pushing forward while assassins pop up behind them to kill their healers - huge fights in the world, taking over entire game maps with large scale attacks, and then moving on to enemy fortresses, and finally into their capital city itself to destroy it and get tons of epic loot - all with much better graphics than blocky old wow graphics

    THAT is fun pvp :)

Greyhoof sure spend an insane amout of time in a game he hates. Assuming of course he's not spitting bullshit in all the threads I have the unfortunate displeasure to read his quoted posts.

So far he's done all the dungeons, all the quests, all the instances in both normal and heroic mode in all expansions. He's been a warlord (insane no job 18+ hours grind for months) and season gladiator for months. Given the above, I'd estimate a 300 days played minimum for such a character (400 days would be more in line with these amazing achievements), which totals in 7200 hours or 1440 days if you played a more normal 5-hours per day.

If I wanted to believe that you're a normal non employed person and not talking PR bullshit against a rival game, then I would understand you being burned out from the warlord grind alone. The thing is, all these hours spend should have been fun for you. A normal person will not spend this insane amount of his free time in the only life he gets to do stuff he loaths. And by free time I mean that you're not get paid, since good payment helps as a counterweight for unpleasant stuff. But this is a game for most of us, not work.

I'd please ask people not to quote him, there is one (very obvious) troll I'd rather not have to deal when reading this site.

Greyhoof promoted himself now to 2 seasons gladiator in Wow.

Please look it up what this title means and have a laugh. People with these titles just don't have time to play another game but Wow. Perhaps next time he will say he is Brutal gladiator and made it to the best PvP player of a 20 server cluster Battlegroup.

Pheace could you please publish the November NPD sales figures again in this thread, showing to Mr Greyhooff that WotLK is THE game to play at the moment.

My old slogan of 2 months ago is now more true han ever before:

.....every copy sold of War is free publictiy for WotLK. And now proven by NPD, Xfire, empty War servers, merging War servers, more than 50% price reductions on internet shops to eliminate the stocks, whatever...

I am always amused when Greyhooff speaks of "tanks" in PvP. PvP Tanks and mobile artillery  in WotLK got a whole other dimension these days. I still wonder how Blizzard does it. Every fight in Lake Winter is always a very tense - up to the very last minute - fight.

Perhaps it's because of the breaches in the gigantic doors and walls and smoke that gives it this dramatic tense feeling. It certainly beats "knocking on a door".

It's because Warhammer servers are down atm, patching 1.1, so waiting keenly for it, lots of world PVP is going to kick off when servers come back up with the new rewards and world PVP influence system etc

I'll be back in game soon :)

PS: the titles I got were in TBC, not now, and you must be a pretty bad PVPer if you think it's hard to get to 2100+ (but there are a lot of terribad wow players around)

A real PvP player has control over his character and is NOT lining up his avatar against NPC's.

I did imagine it. Then I thought of WAR. There's no lines of tanks pushing invaders, it's Medieval golf with all the knockbacks and pull abilties. There's no way to hold lines with all the knockback abilties and CC's thrown around in WAR. The only places that's possible is like the 3 person wide stairways up to the keep lords in keeps.

You know that stairway right? You should, it's the same all over every keep. Door, Door, stairway. One way in, that's it. Woooo great gaming ;)

Wait wait... moving onto enemy fortresses, taking them and then the capital city? What hogwash is this. it's not WAR, we all know that since the game crashes on fighting over the fortresses alone. Also *rofl* let me guess, in line with your WoW accomplishments *You* have already captured the city countles times, right? And you're wearing full RR80 PvP gear and own up the place? Am I right? Surely. And you didn't even do that through banner trading or keep trading in musical keeps that happens so often right? You did it the hard way! Through real PvP! Rofl.

It's funny cause he actually thinks this back and forth is making WAR look good but it's doing quite the opposite and he doesn't even realize it ^^

You may not realise this, but destruction on KEP has pushed into the order capital city Altdorf twice already and taken plenty of fortresses. I guess you're not a good enough PVPer so you don't know how PVP in Warhammer actually works. Oh by the way, pull abilities etc - you can disrupt them HINT tanks using hold the line increase disrupt rate of everyone standing behind them.

Turns out, you're simply not good enough to play tactical PVP like Warhammer has, but enjoy your toy tank siege with 2 abilities in lake wintergrasp. Oh watch out, you got one-shotted by another retri paladin lolkid with 60k HP from tenacity buff. Carebear old game WoW is carebear and old :)

It's funny cause he actually thinks this back and forth is making WAR look good but it's doing quite the opposite and he doesn't even realize it ^^

Greyhooff: you have one minor problem...

The hype in your words can easely be checked in game ... and there is the problem. I didn't see "tanks with shields, deflecting the damage from arrows and fireballs for their entire front line with hold the line and shield wall and guard on a melee dps, pushing forward ".

I didn't see a thing of this is War. The only thing I saw is a clunky avatar which could not be very well controlled and had unresponsive laggy actions when trying to heal someone whose health bars dissapeared. Or sudden NPC who came in from nowhere and bypassed anything in between.

That's why I say: I have absolutely no problem if people want to try War. Hype times are over: everyone can see the game (at very low prices after a mere 10 weeks) for themselves.

It will only be a big boost in new sales for Wow in the long run (as proven already by the NPD charts in november - see above tx Pheace :)).

That' is something you don't seem to understand.

How your elitist attitude is supposed to be a promotion of WAR is beyond me. Comments like "You're simply not good enough to play tactical PvP" is really giving the wrong message. PvP with people like you on my team would be my idea of hell.

Oh, and if by tactical you mean 20-odd players lag-hopping their way through a couple of doors against zero resistance, then I think I'll pass. I've seen the videos...

Let's see in EU it is .... 11:53, so he is even playing on EU servers.

That means low/low on all War servers right now for the next 5 hours....even scenarios won't probably open up for hours. I don't think he will PvP very soon at all :))))

Didn't Mr Greyhooff say he was a US citizen?

.....every copy sold of War is free publictiy for WotLK.
