Do you guys think this has something to do with Sony cutting 4% of their staff (16,000 jobs)? I know they're trying to squeeze any profits they can out of all their products so it just seems logical that they're selling pixel items (worth absolutely nothing) for real money. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/081209/business/cbusiness_us_sony
Sony is not thinking right, if anything this move will be the end of EQ2. I Can almost go out on a limb here and predict at least 20% of the players will quit within the next few months. Especially as they start to add more and more cash shop stuff, because we know companies get greedy as the time passes.
Everquest and Everquest 2: "For beginners getting started, veterans leveling up, players starting alts, or anyone trying to get more out of the game, using SC to purchase in-game items is for everyone. The items available offer new and experienced players alike convenience, customization and fun while providing a unique gameplay experience. Convenience items include potions of various types, from health to experience boosts. Several appearance packs in various armor types make up the customization category. Then for fun, we offer a selection of pets for your house or as travel companions." www.station.sony.com/en/stationcash/
Can someone tell those fools to make the game free to play at least? (Likr e the Koreans do?)
Oh no, hang on the fools are us who are supposed to pay to play AND pay extra to get extra loot (loot that people is supposed to have it included in the monthly payement package)
Luckily I am not fool and I don't play SoE games since they killed EQ2 with RoK, and after seeing what they are up too, I surely don't regret it.
I hope that people who still play their games will take a stance and tell them where to go, by canceling the monthly subscription.

lol, cant you already do what you highlighted at a barber? Even still as long as they arent selling XP potions or anything that helps you get ahead of anyone else in the game is fine by me.

As long as it stays as character customization its not a problem honestly, but when they see they are making money off that they will put more and more and more stuff there, they want to suck their players dry until they spit sand and fart dust.

They are selling experience potions and much more that give advancement advantages. See Waterlilly's previous posts and pix.
Pathetic. When real money starts trading hands for anything other than server access...then it ceases to be a "game" and the person playing it ceases to be a "gamer."

And I was just telling a friend that I would start up my EQ2 account again, but just forget that
Sure, if they make the games free to play they can have a cash shop no problem but this is pathethic. To me it seems like SOE is desperate to get in money right now. However with this Smedley are peeing on his own feets.
I would never ever pay any fees to be in a game with a cash shop, Runes of magic are gonna eat these guys alive.

you cannot change your face at the barber who is going to pay to change their face in the game? I think they changed their mind on charging RMT to change your appearance, since now they have barbers to change your hair. I dont like what SOE has done with this but I dont like what Blizzard did with their recruit a friend program either where its possible to go from 0-60 in less than 1 hour www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/193898 Link says he got it in 2hours and 1 minute ............. not 1 hour, and i find it surprising, but your buying the full copy of the game, its a reward program just like the Zebra mount. Useing it for rewarding yourself is exploiting the system, however easy it is to do it, its still an exploit of the reward system they have in place. or how to use Cash to buy own WOW Epic mount(s) www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/193625 how does this compare to XP pots and in-game items like weapons?

SOE once had the oppurtunity to be great, and now it's come to this?
No more. I won't ever defend SOE again in any thread because, truthfully, they don't deserve my support.
They don't deserve the support of any real gamers out there, and by that I mean anyone who actually enjoys playing to achieve in a game, rather then buying to achieve in a game.
For the first time ever, I really wish there was some SWG diehard here to slag them off to save me the effort.

I think it does

I'm in no way condoning SOE - I think this RMT thing is terrible
but I dont think Blizzard is much better
I agree with Nadia. I am an old school purist MMOG player. Everything including fluff should be earned ingame thru expended effort. No ingame items whatsoever, including head start advantages and pre leveled beta characters, should be awarded outside of the virtual world or exist before retail launch.
But certainly what SOE has chosen to do with Stationcash is despicable and the players of those games were lied to with promises that no such form of RMT would ever be introduced to those products.

you can get 100g in less then an hour in WoW doing dailies, its hardly worth the money. And who buys the zebra for their one and only mount? You seem to have a bias towards blizzard that you want to throw into the thread, even though its not nearly as bad as what SOE is selling. And AGAIN, the zebra is a reward, you need to buy the full game to get it, its not like you can go on their website and purchase a mount for real money to apply to your account.
If this bothers you so much, then i'm guessing your against extra items in more costly CE editions of MMORPGs, because technically your paying for extras, more then just the game and subscription.

Yes, Blizzard also added a cash shop with the last expansion.
Blizzard would be most surprised to hear this. Someone needs to tell them about the cash shop they added to the game
Blizzard already knows about it, so does everyone that got the expansion.. If you have it log on and check the buttons... (this is old news)
