So I have seen alot of people post tangents about how they don't believe a point that has been made is vailid. Sorry to say but the rain you are providing on this prade does not a prove a point. As I have said before it is easy to counter an argument ( there are always many chinks in the armor ). So while you chose to spend your time looking for them. I will chose to spend my time looking at how the armor works together and represents something unique and invovative.
Name me one MMO that has all of that and I'll go play it, you're a moron. I've been playing MMOs for 10 years and NONE have that.
No one MMO has all of that. Darkfall doesn't either. Other games have had some of those things. None of those things is new or exclisive to Darkfall. . Darkfall does not have weather physics. It may have some algorithms to simulate some of the effects of weather but that's it. You might want to learn to read before calling other people morons. Oh and I've been playing multiplayer online games for 25 years so you can put your pathetic boast boast away.
25 years ago, there was no "online" to play multiplayer with. The internet was opened to the public in 1997. Before that it was a very hush hush military used "web of information" they used to communicate and keep track/archive, set waypoints, ect. Our modern internet is only 11 years old. Sorry you where not playing online multiplayer games in 1986.
So unless you where exclusive to a high rank or special position in the US military in the 80's. You had no internet. And even if you where, you wouldn't be playing games. The most you could to with PC games in the 80s where pong, and other low pixel games that you played by yourself.
Heh... Umm... WRONG!
You might want to go back and do a bit of research if you are too young to remember for yourself.
First of all, Windows 95 came out in August of 1995. It came with Internet Explorer and this may surprise you to learn. IE was not the market leader for web-browsers at the time, although that would quickly change as IE had a distinct advantage over the current market leader... it was FREE! (Yes, that's right... before Windows 95 and IE were released you were supposed to pay for your web-browser).
Netscape was far and away the leading web-browser. It's pre-cursor was Mosaic, which came out in 1994.
There was a pre-cursor to the browser that in most respects worked like our traditional browser... except it was mostly text.
The one I used the most and am most familiar with is Gopher. It was invented in 1991 and used quite extensively until the browser wars made it mostly obsolete.
The World Wide Web (yes, our "www" we now us so often) was made available to the public in 1991 through another oft-used area before the browsers... the alt.newsgroups.
For us old enough to remember that is where the true internet was born.
In the early 80's and publicly in 1985 DARPA came together with a bunch of hardware vendors to eventually shape what we now don't give a second thought to. All those different hardware pieces talking to each other over TCP/IP and everything going where it's supposed to go.
By 1988 they had it all pretty much figured out, and that started the flood of public companies switching over to TCP/IP from off their proprietary networking systems.
Anyway, that is how I remember most of it. I was involved in the industry through most of that, but I may have some of the exact dates wrong.
Seriously... if you don't remember... look it up on the... internet.
Edit: Here is a list of MMO's that you could play before 1997... I played a few of these myself.
Oh and Jess I love how you ignore me because I put your argument to shame with something called logic. Go pick fights with everyone else since you can't stand to have truth smack you in the face.
Yes, and how exactly did you do that?
You know what, nevermind. Anyone who spams their own thread isn't gonna figure it out. I don't even know why I tried lol.

You just can't help some people. You just have to let it go. You can't win an argument with someone who does not know how to use their logic.
"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."
John Parry, to his son Will; "The Subtle Knife," by Phillip Pullman
What games do you consider to be 3rd gen? I would say we are currently in 2nd gen games. I would consider EQ/UO to be first gen, then the quest driven handheld crap that WoW/EQ2 started to be second gen, and I dont really see games that have come out since that changed the industry norms. Are WAR/AoC 3rd gen? I dont see how they are much more than 2nd gen quest driven, instanced WoW clones. Whoever breaks that mold and starts a new trend can be considered the leader into the 3rd gen MMOs. Darkfall could do it if it delivers.
People are getting confused. Next gen - Is exactly like it sounds. If there is nothing before then it is not the next generation. I think most people confuse it because no one agrees what should be put before. I would say DF is not a next gen game because I normally look at what the dev team did before it. Revolutionary - Is something new or different. Everyone usually says nex gen for this but the game is actually revolutionary. DF might be able to do this. Even though a lot of its concepts have been done before, but if they can put them all together and make it a success, then I would say this.
However, at this point in time I'd say the game is a myth, and it's appropriate title would be VAPORWARE.
I agree there is nothing Nextgen nor anything Revolutionary about this game.
And so is Darkfall. What's your point? Darkfall looks like nothing more than some kind of fucked up College experiment less than 2 months from a commercial launch,. It looks like complete shit. The gameplay looks terribly generic consisiting of nothing more than mindless hack and slash combat, the graphics look old, the animations look terrible. Ya truly Next Gen. Hey at least Shadowane is actually out and you can play it. Stop playing the bullshit that Tasos has DESCRIBED to you in your head. And start looking at the stuff you have in front of you. You'll see a big picture with FAILURE written on it. I'am going to sit back and just laugh when this finally fails.. because fail it will.. and in a big way.
It already failed in a big way.. it couldn't convince its publisher to do a worldwide release..
Here guys we'll give you a couple servers in our office here and that's it..

You might be interested in the book Cybergypsies, a lot of us were very active on online games before the internet as you know it. I remember fighting my acoustic coupler to maintain a connection.
This line from the book sums it up quite nicely.
"These cybergypsies were the true unsung pioneers of the net. One hundred years ago if you sought fame, fortune or merely adventure, you provisioned up and pointed your boat or your horse west. Now cybergypsies booted up and pointed their mouses at cyberspace. The lawless old wild west had become the weird-wired virtual west, and the cybergypsies the virtual explorers and conquistadors of our modern world. In the kingdom of the geek, the one fingered typist was king - or at least, maybe a wizard, all the time his computer didn't hang...
The net is becoming a quieter place now, both richer and poorer for it. Bear says that old time cybergypsies rarely talk of 'surfing the internet.' They regard present-day netsurfers as tourists, flown in their millions to the gaudy electronic resorts of the world wide web by package tour operators like Compuserve and America Online."
To all you kids who think this isn't the fourth generation mmo. If you could just google fourth generation mmo for me that would be good. let me know how it hits you.
Heh... that's cute.
So, then by your logic any hit we get using Google proves the point?
So, if we did a search on Google for Vaporware MMO... if DarkFall's name comes up... then that means it's true?
Or if we did Crappy MMO... if DarkFall's name comes up... then it's true?
I'm hoping that all but the truly delusional can see the folly in your approach to "proving" your point.
One phrase that you might want to look up though is this: Circular Reasoning
To all you kids who think this isn't the fourth generation mmo. If you could just google fourth generation mmo for me that would be good. let me know how it hits you.
Lol.. only thing that shows up is this thread.. then warhammer.. then AoC.. It really hit me..
PS, with your reasoning, google vaporware mmo.. interesting what the first hit is.. also what mmo's main website do you think shows up.. I don't think DF is vaporware, but some of you DF fanboy trolls, are worse then the "doom and gloom"/vaporware trolls. You are only turning people away from your "chosen" game, by making people believe that it's community are filled with self-important pompus fools.

You know what hits? This forum thread that's what. Jess you try so hard it's comical. How old are you to call us all kid's... Nope don't answer I got it, 90 with dememtia. I mean you have to be, to be this clueless about reality.
I don't know about 4th generation but Darkfall cartainly has what it takes to be a next generation MMO.
It's clearly far more ambitious than WOW, WAR, AoC or any other MMO around atm.
Uh no it doesn't...its not ambitious its merely recycling. Its not made any sort of progress or step forward. Its simply taken an old version of MMOs and repackaged it. Nothing wrong with that since the state of the games it took from are utterly in a shambles and people have been craving the old world again.

I find the fanbois are really reaching to put accolades, titles, and decorate this game with medals. Truly it is just more tried and true MMO concepts.
I would actually don't care much if it was the 500th generation.
The features it contains is pretty much what i want and need. Who cares if it's a "wow-killer" or anything like that. If it will satisfy me i will be glad.
The speed of the mole and the power of steel is my weapon

I can't really agree with that. Tried and True is what many have been doing lately. I mean this is why so many site "WoW Clone".
It's hard to define DarkFall as next-gen, 4th Gen, retro or anything really. It has some new concepts but most are polished concepts from previous titles. The tech behind it isn't commenly used with MMO's but has been around in some form or another.
If anything I guess you can say it's a Retro Next-Gen by gamers for gamers.

But, yes, I agree that if it says so on the internet, it's got to be true. Now if we could only get TV to confirm it, there could be no doubt!
