I agree, however  I left because I jump from game to game quickly, especially when I no longer feel the appeal of something new and exciting.  I had no drive to play the game after a few months.  The classes were seemingly fun an unique, but I yet again found my niche for the barbarian/rogue types as they had a familiar feel to other MMO games.  I loved the fact that most attacks hit multiple targets, something I wish more games would take advantage of.  When I hit 55 on both characters early on, I left.  I wasn't about to work hard to play a game.  Challenges are always a nice in a game, they keep you coming back for more, but grinding is not a challenge, it's a chore.

In your shoes, given what you're upset about, I wouldn't return either.  You only have to be lied to once to make it not worth it to take the risk again.  That being said, they lied several times as many other have indicated (Content, DX10, Buddy keys etc.) so it would be wise to steer clear.  However it should not be completely assumed that there will never be a change, but there should be significant proof otherwise.

I'm going to look for Age of Conan in February after some Darkfall reviews (if they show Darkfall as failure)

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

Pathetic. I don't know if you relize it, but noone's trying to force this game on you. People just start to get really happy about this game now and want to share that with the MMO crowd that in general are very unhappy about WoWs mindless grind, the War disapointment... AoC is definitely the best MMO out there now technologywise (for me I think it is best in any way) . There is no reason for you to play hard to get. If your precious ass are so sore from last time you played AoC just stay away. But don't blame us, we AoC players have told ya all, "AoC is getting much better and people are resubbing like crazy". For all you know AoC is the next big thing.

Dont know what your talking about me and some real life friends just /quit and did not resub. On the 6 month plan gave them time to get it down.. AoC is like any other mmo out there.. it either does it for you .. or it doesn't .

If you can live through funcom and all the bologna good for you.

My server was a deadzone has been for months.. fun fun. I pay to play in ghosttowns.

All mmo's are a grindfest . There is no exception to the timesink formula that you put a RPG label on. AoC is no exception to this.

Who? The few who are actually still playing it?

WoW's mindless grind?  Then what do you call AoC's?

If War is a disapointment then what the hell do you call AoC?

Ok, I've been a AoC-hater-troll for sometime now (not on these forums though). Since I don't have any active MMO subscription currently, I decided to test the shittiness level on AoC myself rather than listening to fanbois in denial.

Result was intresting. I was one of the people that were experiencing lots of technical issues such as out of memory errors or grey maps every hour. I had to restart conan after few loading screens, it was unplayable at launch and following few months. I was pleased to see these after 6 hours of non-stop gameplay, i didn't encountered these issues.

Community is what you can expect, helpful but fanboyish and some haters here and there. Some servers have healthy population as far as I can see. All others are dead or dying.

I can't comment on siege battles, extra 55+ content or endgame content but it seems those are still lacking and/or bugged. Its especially a problem if your server is dead.

Overall, AoC is still not ready for release, they still don't fulfill their promises regarding PvP and Endgame, but its hell of a lot more refined then what it was on the release date.

My recommendation; Don't try it if you are looking for a game to play for a long time. If you just want to spend a month or two until some other titles gets released (Darkfall and Aion hopefully) then you can try it for 12€, its not great, but definitly not bad. Its an average game.

I have to say that I have been intrigued by this game for some time. On paper it seems to be an excellent game but I have heard nothing but negative things about it for so long. It is interesting to see a little surge of good threads regarding the current state of the game. My only problem, and the thing that is keeping me from giving this game an honest and unbiased shot, is the fact that they have no trial and I can not seem to find a buddy key for the life of me. I can not justify throwing down my money if I am not satisfied with the game.

It would seem to me that a trial would be a natural inclusion into the game as, from what I hear, the first 20 levels on Tortage are very good and well thought out. So I guess I will have to wait until they throw out a free trial hook for all of us who want to give the game a shot, or if anyone does have a spare buddy key out there willing to give it to someone who will put it to good use, please shoot me a pm. I am certainly interested in giving this game an honest shot and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity.

but anyone with half a brain can realize that something dramatic happened when Craig Morrison took charge. Compare what he's done in the short time he's had with AoC to what Gaute has done. PvP consequence system successfully implemented. A whole new zone. Shortened the lengthy combos. Server mergers, 2 new high level dungeons, DX10, and improvements to crafting are right around the bend. He's also been much more open with the community. He's had a letter to the community every month talking about what is going on. Do some research an look at what he's done with Anarchy Online. This guy is legit.

Hmm - lets see.... What company was it that released a buggy game with half the content not up to scratch (including the PVP system and the new areas) ?

And... BTW -  You know that the person you are claiming to be legit... is getting payed by money of 500 k + ppl that were directly fooled into buying a product that wasn't even half finished ?

The new guy is the guy who took a 5k -( YES WHOLE 5K PPL PLAYING ANARCY ONLINE !!  FREE GAME!!) and turned it around.... lol .....

AOC has already failed - The person that got 5k ppl to play a free game is legit....  Gratz genious.....

BTW - you do realise that "massive sieges" "mounted combat" and "spellweaving" are just few words that spring to mind when I hear the word AOC....  But the word FAILURE will always top the list.

I finally got to play the game, there is nothing wrong with it at all.Well sorry key mapping works,it just acts funny lol.I saw a post that said the mechanics were tedious? lol try TCOS.it gave me a headache.Imagine taking nice simple hotbars and cramming them into a roller wheel at half the size to boot.I believe a few things were changed after launch as far as mechanics go correct?

I can tell you what i learned to do in my first 2 minutes of working the system.I took the arrow icons and put each corresponding one beside the proper ability,so you had no memorizing and it was all neat and tidy, you have at least 3 hotbars that i know ,probably more?

Yes the game is along the same lines as all other games, but well what does anyone expect, there all much the same.I don't hear the WOW players lining up to complain there game copied 99% of EQ,do we?

AOC puts  out a good looking game, with solid battle mechanics, sure not in depth like FFXI,but no game can touch FFXI's combat system.AOC is a lot like EQ in a way you can sort of solo, but it is boring and i would not reccommend it.You do need grouping in here, witch is why the game needs players, the same way VAnguard needs players. So now we have two VERY GOOD games, both needing players and we got them all hanging out in cartoon playhouse err i mean WOW.

Oh did i emtion the animations are pretty good, you get some nice looking finishing moves, just like a real barbarian.A big improvement from the F2P games where it is 500 mph sword swinging and you can't even follow the combat.

Hmm - lets see.... What company was it that released a buggy game with half the content not up to scratch (including the PVP system and the new areas) ?

PvP was in but the leveling system was not in place. Let me however remind you of that the Consequence and Notoriety system was published in July at first, it was always something to be added on later, on a PvP content flesh out basis. I agree with you though, that the PvP level system should have been in place on launch.  For your remarks on the new areas (Ymirs Pass), that is just pure moontalk. Ymirs pass was never something supposed to be in game on release. So all in all, this point is not really that much in touch with reality.

And... BTW -  You know that the person you are claiming to be legit... is getting payed by money of 500 k + ppl that were directly fooled into buying a product that wasn't even half finished ?

? I can't not even understand your point here? ???

The new guy is the guy who took a 5k -( YES WHOLE 5K PPL PLAYING ANARCY ONLINE !!  FREE GAME!!) and turned it around.... lol .....

Still looking for your point here?

AOC has already failed - The person that got 5k ppl to play a free game is legit....  Gratz genious.....

By your logic I kind of sense that you expect a infinite number of people to play F2P games, which we of course know is not the case. Also AO has/had 100000 players this last summer in case you are confused about the numbers.

BTW - you do realise that "massive sieges" "mounted combat" and "spellweaving" are just few words that spring to mind when I hear the word AOC....  But the word FAILURE will always top the list.

Which probably i the only thing I take away from your post. A mind set to FAILURE is normally always somewhat closed. I am sure, even if a million people told you that AoC is the best most insane good game experience ever, that you would not even considder trying it out. And that is really the irony this whole thing, "that you are the one missing out, and you (the man not playing the game) want to convince us all of that you are right". lol... You see thats the crux of you argument, you are trying to tell AoC players how their game is when you are not really playing the game.

Best of luck with that FAILURE issue.

I agree with OP. Many people, including the poster I replied on here would probably benefit from calibrating their opinions about AoC again (as in they might just find the game they always wanted for).

Hmm, i really dont understand some people on this forum, i noticed that some people really like to trash talk about AOC, bla bla bla AOC sucks, bla bla bla missing content etc etc.

I just sitt here and laugh when i see these people post, i can see that most of them havent even played AOC since lunch or in many months, and they are still sitting here thinking that they know everything about AOC, LOL.

Why dont you guys, just stop trolling ?

If you really hate this game so much, why dont you just buy another game and play it instead of sitting on these forums and talk about stuff you dont know.

If you hate AOC so much go play WAR / WOW / EVE or some other mmo, sit on does forums and post about the game you "play".

AOC had problems at lunch yes, but the game has improved ALOT and if you are "playing" AOC you will now this, it will even improve much much more, the new patches that are coming are huge and really great

This game is good , its fun and cool I strongly recommend people to buy or resub AOC.

Ive recently played also. The game looks fantastic and runs so much smoother....but its still lacking so badly.

    -aweful crafting

    -no economy

    -no meaningful pvp

    -linear ride on rail tracks

-dire pve endgame content....still bugged in cases.

Id still recommend anyone to buy this game as you will get your money worth with the free month. But after that imo its still not worth subscibing to. Its a good single player RPG currently....nowhere near an mmo.

How do they call it.... "damage was done", eh.

Will be a pretty harsh task to regain the trust of most players who cancelled their Age of Conan subscriptions, myself included.

On top of that, if the other existing MMORPGs deliver something innovative with a patch or something (highly unlikely) or  new MMORPGs actually give the genre a revamp from the persistent let downs, even less people are going to look back for a new try.

-dire pve endgame content....still bugged in cases.
Id still recommend anyone to buy this game as you will get your money worth with the free month. But after that imo its still not worth subscibing to. Its a good single player RPG currently....nowhere near an mmo.

NO, NO, NO and NO. If you'd played the game you would know why your bullets in red cracked me up so badly.  This was all patched in long time back. The no meaning full PvP bullet was the funniest one though...lol, there is hardly a game with more meaningfull PvP considdering the consequence and PvP level system being in place. Funny, just very funny.

With regards to that linear thing, I disagree that FC need to do anything at all here. Again, Tortage is the tutorial part of the game, very little past level 30 is "linear" as you call it (if I understand what you mean by it)

DX10 patch soon for AoC (prob early Feb) uses more DX10 features than anyother mmorpg. Already looking good on test server.

There is a revamp in that patch too with 3 new dungeons and the start of a crafting shake up.

FC is trying and stepping it up a notch with each recent patch imo.

    Merry Xmas!
