Ive recently played also. The game looks fantastic and runs so much smoother....but its still lacking so badly. -aweful crafting -no economy -no meaningful pvp -linear ride on rail tracks -dire pve endgame content....still bugged in cases. Id still recommend anyone to buy this game as you will get your money worth with the free month. But after that imo its still not worth subscibing to. Its a good single player RPG currently....nowhere near an mmo.
The game was always and will always be instanced. If you can't stand that then meh
What is meaningful PvP. Grinding for shiny titles, a ladder system? Answer me that question
You want a sandbox MMO, sorry AoC was never advertised as such
Raids are ok, they are adding more dunegons. I honestly don't see how this is any different than most games at launch, well maybe VG has more.
No economy = no resaon to grind mobs for gold = less RMT. However, there is an economy, its certered around guilds. They are working on the crafting system, but I don't expect it to do much to the economy if it doesn't come with the stat revamp. Oh and the reason the economy sucks is because gear is partically worthless and I love that. It will improve once they make gear more important, but don't expect them to add anything into the game that will force people to go out and grind to get in order to play. AoC will always be a skill>gear game which means no phat loot.
instancing, but i acknowledge its part of the game so its a wash
exploration is still very hampered due to invisible walls and boundaries
The ugly
the crafting still is horrid
economy is totally out of whack
certain skills, like climbing, are useless for the most part
stats are still a little wonky, and the need for certain stats seem to change from patch to patch
all in all my impression since launch was alot better, but i cancelled anyway.....least this time i made it to level 52. First time around i made it out of tortage before i quit.
i got off a 2nd try with aoc 2 months ago. My impressions The Good I didn't have any bugs i noticed Improvement to client performance was amazing and combat was still ok The meh community is still rough to deal with instancing, but i acknowledge its part of the game so its a wash exploration is still very hampered due to invisible walls and boundaries The ugly the crafting still is horrid economy is totally out of whack certain skills, like climbing, are useless for the most part

Well, I think they did add the dropable crafting recs after that, it still kinda sucks but are at least better.
I am afraid this is a problem in most MMO, they think crafting from the wrong end. Crafting here is about how yout get the stuff to make your item but the item are exactly the same as everyone else makes. A Stygian smith shouldn't make the same looking armours as a cimmerian, you should be able to custom them. At least there is some cultural lvl 80 armours now but it is far to little.
I resubbed two weeks ago and am enjoying this game boyond words. It's not a boxful of bugs anymore, nor a mindless grindfest. It has improved so much and more content is already on the way (DX10, vastly improved itemization, new end-game content etc..). Just go and see. Forget the fact that Funcom is a skanky liar, or at least used to be. Serve yourself some Robert E. Howards Conan stories and get into a decent rp guild. Don't come here blaming me when you find yourself being hooked after a few days!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year all.
Bugs and grindfest were never the problem for me. The extreme instancing, along with the tedious and boring combat system were my biggest dislikes about the game. If they fixed those then yeah, maybe I would try it again, but until then, no thanks.
Along with this guy, my biggest beefs were because of extreme identity crises between the classes. I don't know what it is, but for some reason, i always seem to be drawn to the class(es) that end up being... well... not up to snuff. In other words, they sound really interesting, and by all accounts should be extremely useful in PvE and PvP. But they are usually gimped beyond beleif, rarely ever having a viable utility in any combat scenario.... and they usually end up being the weakest class in general.
I played a Conquorer in AoC. A Smuggler in SWG. A Warrior in WoW (back in the day when they sucked.) A Sniper (I forget what it was called) in Tabula Rasa. All of these classes seemed like they should be one awesome class, at least to me, but ended up being the laughing stock of the game. In other words, these classes were more or less overshadowed by some other class that could more or less do what they do, only better, or quicker.
The Conquorer was the weakest Soldier (Tank) class, in both Damage and overall Damage Mitigation. The Smuggler was... well... worthless in PvP and in PvE (I'm speaking pre-NGE here), they couldn't smuggle, and their whole Spice thing was completely overshadowed by Chef foods and drinks. And that Sniper class in TR was basically THE Nuke in the game, and was slower at killing things than that class with the Swords.
A funny anecdote - when I was debating whether or not to play WAR, I was looking at Witch Hunter, which from what I understand, ended up being a very weak and useless class.
Anyhoo... AoC had more going against my tastes than bugs and lack of content. I rarely encountered anything other than a CTD bug, and it was a minor annoyance at best. My beef with the game basically came with the overall mechanics of combat, and generally the inability for my class to function viably in any given scenario - to no fault of my own. I played it well enough, and I knew how to do what I was supposed to be doing. The bottom line was, that the numbers just weren't there.
It had one useful skill, but demanded you to be in a group, and only occurred when your teammates were being attacked, and only after they had been hit 10 times (at the least). Call me crazy, but for a Tank to have a skill like this seems to me to be completely useless. If your team is getting hit... then you aren't doing your job as a tank. BUT, to even have this ability, you have to basically give up your entire line of offense, instead rigging your dude for defense.... only you can't use a shield, so you automatically suck at being a Tank - what the hell, Funcom?
Maybe they've fixed the Conquorer's problems with the itemization fixes, and maybe even tweaked the class skills (which needed to happen, day one.) But that still doesn't account for the fact that the combat mechanics were VERY unintuitive, and basically... just hard to manage. I swear, combat in this game is just nuts. Moving around and spamming attack sequences at the same time just doesn't mix together well. You had to babysit the camera constantly, babysit your direction of attack, babysit your hit-box, babysit your specials.... I think they went a little too far with designing the interface with a Controller in mind. You can tell, because the game plays like shit with a mouse and keyboard, and there just is no way of customizing the keys comfortably.
Plus... well... nothing about it felt very revolutionary at all, and I suppose I was expecting more than what was offered. I think I'll pass on giving AoC another try. Because bottom line... they can't fix being lied to and sold something that wasn't even on the damn box.

When I began reading your post I instantly thought you rolled a DT, but I was baffeled by the fact you picked a Conq. Conq is a very useful class to have in every given situation. I don't know how many time the Conq res saved my groups in a Raid, and in PvP they pull their weight in a group and 1v1 are decent.
As for the combat system sounds like you just suck at it. Sorry to be harsh, but its the truth. FC even dumbed it down before launch to help make people go from auto attack to active combat easier with the DDR prompt, and then further made it easier to manage by reducing the sequences required to fire off most combos. Baby sitting the mouse should be done in every game ever since games add LOS. Click and play is dead, and hopefully active combat is the wave of the future: AoC, DDO, Darkfall all have active combat systems and from what I hear so will KOTRO, so you better get use to it well unless you plan on playing WoW all your life.
P.S. I'm pretty sure the reason you failed in most PvP situations was because you found the combat hard to manage.
First impressions usually leave the most lasting ones, even in gaming.
I remember when the PSX first came out a little game called "Beyond the Beyond"...try as i might i couldn't get into it, i felt the random attacks happened far too often...i remember counting two to three steps before getting hit again, which made it frustrating for me...i also felt the story was very bland and the characters rather uninteresting.
Time passed and through random conversation with a friend "Beyond the Beyond" came up...he insisted i play it again, that i didn't get far enough or that it gets better the higher you level...even though i respect his opinion it still wasn't enough for me to give it a go again.
While i respect the OP's post and the posters comments, myself and others have been left with a bad first impression that is hard to forget.
Is it getting better? for the people still playing it, i hope so.

Such is life. Thats why any time I write a paper I spend at least 6hrs on the introduction.
But, in gaming first impressions shouldn't mean anything if you play the game at launch since all games have had poor launches with bugs. The "lying", other than DX10 and maybe PvP levels everything that was suppose to come out after beta did, is the one thing people should be wary of. But then again, the company fired Gault.
Edit: I wouldn't recommend anyone giving the game a second shot yet tho. The reasons most people have left haven't been fixed yet. When DX10 is out, the new dunegons, server mergers, and the stat revamp starts then it will be worth a second shot since these remove the lies, adds more to end game, helps crafting out, and makes gear more viable. With that said; however, don't expect "phat loot" or these changes to make gear>skill in this game. If you want a game where gear makes you a god play something else.

Conquorer's are VERY useful as Res-bots. I will never argue with that. My reasoning for disliking this fact was that it is a Tank class... whose primary ability inherently needed them to do anything BUT Tank. Moreover, their ability to Tank was HIGHLY overshadowed by the other two classes, DT and Guard (fair enough)... but their Attack was at least weaker than the Guardian's Polearm, even as a dual weild spec.
There, that pretty much sums up everything anyone needs to know about that class - at least how it was back when I played. But again... it may be different now - and I won't say I can't be corrected. But, don't go off concluding that I "sucked at playing lolz". THIS is how the class was the first couple of months when I played. I know it's true, because I tested this over and over and over again - and exactly what I am telling you here, is exactly what you would have read on the Conq forums the first two months of Live.
I oculd have just as well played another class... since obviously Conq wasn't the one for me. But, when I read about the game, I knew I wanted to wear heavy armor and I wanted to use a two handed sword.... Conquorer was really my only choice. The res thing was fine. I and many others just felt like the class needed to be beefed up a bit in other areas. Like I said, maybe the itemization fixed this issue, and back then, there were no PvP levels at the time (I dont know if there are now, but there is supposed to be), and half the stats weren't working properly, if at all. If all of that is fixed now - then maybe I should give the game another go. But, there is still the issue of combat mechanics....
I know fully well what they did to "dumb the combat down". And really... they didn't dumb it down at all - except for taking away 3 of the directional attacks. What they did, was put an onscreen display of your attacks (Via the Hotbar), and then make you activate them to initiate the attack sequence. THIS IS MORE WORK THAN THE ORIGINAL!!! Used to, you didn't have to "activate" anything. You just started the sequence, which would have been 10 times better. Why? Because you wouldn't have to press an ACTIVATION BUTTON!
Activating the attack will automatically either take your hand off the movement keys (WASD) or take your mouse to the Hotbar, which means you aren't managing your camera, which means you aren't managing your aiming, in which case if you aren't, then you'll miss, in which case the attack sequence doesn't start anyway. In PvE, this was rarely a problem. In PvP, this was a nightmare, because your targets will never be stationary. I encountered this problem EVERY single time I PvPed. With the Melee classes, it wasn't much of a problem until they were almost dead. With Casters and other Ranged opponents, this was a constant bother - especially since they didn't attack strings with their Spells and attacks when using magic.
The combat was completely unintuitive and completely worked against the user. I didn't suck at the game... I just found it to be a lot more work than it needed to be, when the resolution for the issue was so simple to adjust - just change it back to the way it was originally....

Firstly, they lie but they just keep doing it....DX10 was meant to be out months ago but still its not on the non live servers. Secondly I payed for a totally bugged game and got no money back but they want me to resub at full cost 'now the games ok and they been going for a few months'. Thirdly they are still having major issues with the most basis things, I logged on to download the latest patches (waiting to see DX10 and if they come down with their sub cost) and i read, 'Now the health bar should be desplaying health, as intended'. Its unbelieveable and reminds me of how incompetent they were. They fix one thing and break another. I remember spending a whole 1-2 weeks seeing everyones damage attacks on the whole map....i mean what a mess! and then they 'fixed that' and then the heal values didnt show anymore....
Honestly the game could be great but its a bit like Goa to WAR...the company is screwing up the player base. Having said this, in WAR goa seem to have got past the inital problems but this was something Funcom never seemed to be able to do, even though people resigned and a new MD came in i cant see any change in the staff.

I play Conqueror and you sir are very wrong. Conqueror is not the primary Tank thats the DT and the Guardian. The conqueror has Tankerish capabilities, but is above all the commander shouting out commands in battle. He can use offencive command that give extra damage and/or special abilities for ranged attacks, or he can use defensive commands that will give the battleressurect ability. The conqueror is essential in a n army and and army with no or few conquerors will not do as well up against an commander less army. This class is essential in AoC.
Well I did give it a retry for whole 2 months via a 60 days game card i bought 1st fe days all was okay then was hit with 4K+ lag
Tried every damn thing mentioned on official forums nothing helped The 60 days just died out with 4K+ lag
There are no lag spikes left in AoC now. Last two patches have patched in new code that have removed the latency issues. When did you have your latecy spikes. My guess is it can't for sure be in Dec or second half of November.
AoC is the best game going... You're truly missing out by not playing/re-subbing.
Well it's hard to get that message accross to the rest of the mmobuds, as mmorpg.com takle pride in promoting FC trolling to the point that most stuff posted in this forum is complete nonfactual fcktalk from AoChaters.
Ever Gamer should ALWAYS Ignore any game where the devs lied - cheated and ignored the custimors - JUST to make more money instead of thinking of the players. ! This is why I will never ever pay or play AOC again. And all should do the same. Nothing has changed - its the same con ppl in charge there. Biggest con was to change the guy in the hotseat and think everything would change.... Hopefully ppl are not that dum....
You're the reason why games like this have no chance of achieving good numbers, regardless of how much they tweak, regardless of how much they polish this game. It has a lot of potential, but you're the weed.
Actually his attitude is one that could turn the genre around so we arent stuck with abortion releases like AOC had as well as less than reputable, or honest, or trustworthy people in charge.
Anyone who even remotely suggests that it is in any way the customers fault doesnt deserve the time of day.
Hmm, i really dont understand some people on this forum, i noticed that some people really like to trash talk about AOC, bla bla bla AOC sucks, bla bla bla missing content etc etc. I just sitt here and laugh when i see these people post, i can see that most of them havent even played AOC since lunch or in many months, and they are still sitting here thinking that they know everything about AOC, LOL. Why dont you guys, just stop trolling ? If you really hate this game so much, why dont you just buy another game and play it instead of sitting on these forums and talk about stuff you dont know. If you hate AOC so much go play WAR / WOW / EVE or some other mmo, sit on does forums and post about the game you "play". AOC had problems at lunch yes, but the game has improved ALOT and if you are "playing" AOC you will now this, it will even improve much much more, the new patches that are coming are huge and really great This game is good , its fun and cool I strongly recommend people to buy or resub AOC.
But you dont notive the "10/10 AOC cures cancer" crowd. Interesting. Oh wait.....
Not going to argue that the game is better or not. And while I think its always ok to give a game another chance, I'd have to say based on Funcom's past performance you'd be wise to give this game a second chance, ONLY if you can try again for free. If you've played before and left then FC already has enough of your money. If they really made changes that they think makes the game better, let them back it up with free trial period.
I resubbed two weeks ago and am enjoying this game boyond words. It's not a boxful of bugs anymore, nor a mindless grindfest. It has improved so much and more content is already on the way (DX10, vastly improved itemization, new end-game content etc..). Just go and see.
I honestly don't think anyone reads what anyone else says on these forums. I think they read a little bit, probably skim the bulk of what is said... in the first paragraph, picking the things they don't like, and then automatically retort like the other person has no idea what they are talking about.
What part of this doesn't anyone understand? This is how it used to be - maybe it's different now. The abilities you speak of about the Conquorer did minimal improvement on the overall battle. As I remember correctly, they weren't much good for anything.
The problem with the Conquorer was the fact that it was only useful in a group. It didn't abilities that really augmented.... themselves. Fine... like I said, I don't usually harbor solo play anyway. But more often than not, I found myself soloing or just questing with my bro. It became apparant early on that his Guardian class was much more versitile than the Conquorer. The Conqueror just seemed to have one function, and when taken out fo that element.... it was very weak compared to just about any other class in the game, by virtue that their abilities were non-functional.
And, just to point something out... a Conquorer's job IS in fact to tank, lest they would not be in the Soldier archetype. The soldier's job is to tank, primarily, by virtue of the Soldier archetype. I'm fine with it not being the preferred tank - that was never my issue. My issue was that it offered nothing else to compensate. atheir ability to attack was weak, and evidently, their only utility was the battle res. My contention is, that if that skill is so useful, then I would think the last thing you would want the Conqueror to do, is get hit - which means they should stay as far away from the battle as possible. That's not much fun for a Conquorer.
I WISH I was just making this stuff up, just to bash the game. I'm not bashing the game. I'm just expressing the problems I had with it - so get off it.

LOL, that post was just stupid.
Who is saying a game ( AOC cure cancer ). Anyway, no i wouldent give AOC a 10/10.
I havent seen a mmo yet that deserves a 10/10, i would give AOC a 8/10. Im only saying that AOC is a good game now, and ofc its not perfect.
But AOC has the best potential of all mmo's out there, so who knows maybe in 6 more months AOC will be The best mmo out. ( But still not perfect, i dont think there will ever be a perfect mmo ) Best game i played this year, and well the most perfect yet is Gears of War 2.

the way it was originally was fine and dandy if the person was used to fighting games. However, due to sever lag and unresponsiveness, they used the DDR promt to make sure people didn't accidentally use combos they didn't want to. Also if you activeate your attack skill and miss it still starts the chain. Always has as far as I know (stated in june). And yea, PvP is work. It shouldn't be easy mode, but I've never had the problem your describing.
Everything else you've said is right on the money from people who play conq, but I wouldn't say the are useless. I think they've gotten buffed.

I find it funny the statements labeling AoC as the MMORPG with most potential, next big thing and so on, it's sad to hear the truth sometimes, but well-rendered boobies don't make good games.
Now if you want to mess up your game in development, you could follow FC's advices on how to promise wonders and deliver let downs.
Really, despite of what's being said by lots of people in this thread, of how AoC is awesome now, increasing subscriptions nonstop, the tone of the OP begs to differ.

Nither does the same thing in a different package. The only game that has attempted to break the mold has been AoC. Next in line is DF. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of seeing WoW repackaged in a different format.

To be honest, I wanted to talk about WoW-AoC comparisons before.
I don't really consider both games that different. Both got lots of instanced content, linearity, and boring endgame (and to some extent, in AoC it was absent for a while).
About graphical differences, yes I enjoyed their style in AoC, but I don't really think graphics make the game. In most of my gaming experiences graphics would only add up for the fun but still there's tons of aspects for every genre out there in order to pull an amazing game altogether, I'm pretty sure that was said but it's always nice to repeat: gameplay > graphics anyday.
In short it's pretty hard for me to see the line that was supposedly drawn between both titles.
About Darkfall, even being really skeptical to this name, conceptually it is breaking the mold, with the old UO FFA pvp with full loot and so on, if the devs will execute the proposed ideas it's for another thread, and I'm not expecting much, seeing as MMORPGs nowadays are entering some kind of delivering-less-than-promised pattern (feel free to name the ones in this classification).
AoC is the best game going... You're truly missing out by not playing/re-subbing.

I just found it to be a lot more work than it needed to be, when the resolution for the issue was so simple to adjust - just change it back to the way it was originally....
the way it was originally was fine and dandy if the person was used to fighting games.

The problem with PvP was generally the movement, conjoined with the aiming, and the skill activation, and the attack sequencing. I just couldn't get a comfortable workaround for the control schemes.... and I spent a LOT of time working with it. It just felt clumsy to me. Clumsy isn't the word really.... Combat felt like it was working against me in PvP. I know I wasn't the only one who felt this way. My brother had the exact same response to the combat, as did many people in that time. I suspect, now however, that people have learned to just accept it, and work around it. Fair enough, but that doesn't mean there isn't a better way to do it.
Maybe it was the fact that my skills as a Conq just weren't giving me enough bang for my buck. Looking back, that's probably what it was. I felt like I was doing a LOT more work than my oponents, and I was getting less done. I mean... I've played a lot of MMO's, and I can deal with the playstyle well enough. My roots are as a twitch-based FPS gamer, however, so I'm used to doing things relatively quickly. I would throw everything I had into PvP, and it felt like a lot more work than it should have been.
At any rate, I'm usually pretty good at seeing a problem, and thinking of a workaround - which is why I figured the original system would have worked better... only tweaked. Basically, I felt like the need for a skill activation was... unecessary, and actually made the combat feel, not only indifferent than any other game, but also, more complicated in execution than any game needed to be. I mean, at the end of the day, the skill activation felt like every other MMO combat (which was supposed to be one of AoC's bigger selling point - revolutionary NEW combat) only MORE work. I mean, it felt like I was playing WoW, clicking a Hotbar skill... only I had to press 4 other keys afterword just to make it work.
My idea was to have it so that your first attack button would more or less bring up a list of Skills you had that started with that attack direction. I mean, the game is pretty good about having each attack start with a new attack direction, or having enough variation in the latter parts of the sequence to eventually know which skill you were attempting.
I only say this, because usually when a part of the game frustrates me, I end up thinking about how simple a solution it would have to make that frustration disappear - and not change much about what had already been done.
As far as Conq is concerned... not all of the class was bad. I mean, there wasn't really anything "bad" about it. It was a great foundation. But it really needed to have some inherent abilities tweaked to make it stand out more, but also hold true to its roots. Something needed to be done about it - either on a defensive or offensive scale. I tend to lean towards the defensive side, because it was a Tank class by nature, and it was only trumped by the Guardian in Melee prowess when they used the weapon that inherently disallowed them to Tank, viably (Polearm). Their attack power was... well... nothing to write home about... but in reality, it was a Tank, and should only be really needed in a "help to get the job done" manner, conjoined with say, a Barbarian. You know - the dude is almost dead, but the Barb is out of stamina, so the Conq comes in to finish the job...... team work!

AoC will always be a skill>gear game which means no phat loot.

i got off a 2nd try with aoc 2 months ago.
My impressions
The Good
I didn't have any bugs i noticed
Improvement to client performance was amazing
combat was still ok
soundtrack is still amazing
graphics are def top notch
The meh
community is still rough to deal with
instancing, but i acknowledge its part of the game so its a wash
exploration is still very hampered due to invisible walls and boundaries
The ugly
the crafting still is horrid
economy is totally out of whack
certain skills, like climbing, are useless for the most part
stats are still a little wonky, and the need for certain stats seem to change from patch to patch
all in all my impression since launch was alot better, but i cancelled anyway.....least this time i made it to level 52. First time around i made it out of tortage before i quit.

Well I did give it a retry for whole 2 months via a 60 days game card i bought
1st fe days all was okay then was hit with 4K+ lag
Tried every damn thing mentioned on official forums nothing helped The 60 days just died out with 4K+ lag
There are no lag spikes left in AoC now. Last two patches have patched in new code that have removed the latency issues. When did you have your latecy spikes. My guess is it can't for sure be in Dec or second half of November.
Well it's hard to get that message accross to the rest of the mmobuds, as mmorpg.com takle pride in promoting FC trolling to the point that most stuff posted in this forum is complete nonfactual fcktalk from AoChaters.
Did you of all people really just say that?
Fungerer som det skal
You're the reason why games like this have no chance of achieving good numbers, regardless of how much they tweak, regardless of how much they polish this game. It has a lot of potential, but you're the weed.
Actually his attitude is one that could turn the genre around so we arent stuck with abortion releases like AOC had as well as less than reputable, or honest, or trustworthy people in charge.
Anyone who even remotely suggests that it is in any way the customers fault doesnt deserve the time of day.
Fungerer som det skal
But you dont notive the "10/10 AOC cures cancer" crowd. Interesting. Oh wait.....
Fungerer som det skal
Not going to argue that the game is better or not. And while I think its always ok to give a game another chance, I'd have to say based on Funcom's past performance you'd be wise to give this game a second chance, ONLY if you can try again for free. If you've played before and left then FC already has enough of your money. If they really made changes that they think makes the game better, let them back it up with free trial period.

But you dont notive the "10/10 AOC cures cancer" crowd. Interesting. Oh wait.....

Do they have a free trial yet? I'm not spending money just to see if they've fixed the game.
the way it was originally was fine and dandy if the person was used to fighting games.
I think they've gotten buffed.
trials and win back program will start Q1 of 09
Games:
Currently playing:Nothing
Will play: Darkfall: Unholy Wars
Past games:
Guild Wars 2 - Xpiher Duminous
Xpiher's GW2
GW 1 - Xpiher Duminous
Darkfall - Xpiher Duminous (NA) retired
AoC - Xpiher (Tyranny) retired
Warhammer - Xpiher

About Darkfall, even being really skeptical to this name, conceptually it is breaking the mold, with the old UO FFA pvp with full loot and so on, if the devs will execute the proposed ideas it's for another thread, and I'm not expecting much, seeing as MMORPGs nowadays are entering some kind of delivering-less-than-promised pattern (feel free to name the ones in this classification).

weird, none of my friends (irl) hang out on this forum, and not a one of them has had anything good to say about aoc, nor do any of them see any reason to go back to aoc.
go figure.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

I just found it to be a lot more work than it needed to be, when the resolution for the issue was so simple to adjust - just change it back to the way it was originally....
the way it was originally was fine and dandy if the person was used to fighting games.
I think they've gotten buffed.
trials and win back program will start Q1 of 09
The problem with PvP was generally the movement, conjoined with the aiming, and the skill activation, and the attack sequencing.
You know - the dude is almost dead, but the Barb is out of stamina, so the Conq comes in to finish the job...... team work!
