but your a better person for rubbing it in their faces right?
Ow he's going all the way on this one
Let's ask the same question here then. From your posting manner I'm pretty sure you didn't give it more thought than beyond looking at the "1 million players" they mentioned instead of actually reading the website but what exactly is 1 million + guilded ingame characters created supposed to say according to you? Clearly you're drawing conclusions on it but what are those conclusions?
So.. what about them apples?
Oh so there is 1M characters created? Dam that's a big achievement for WAR I suppose, it's not as if people like to make alts and play them to lvl 10 - 20 before abandoning them.
Sad to see reallly.
A quick glance at your most recent posts, and my first thought:
Is this guy able to make even a single post without mentioning WoW/Blizzard?
Put some efforts in proper typing / writing. Everything you post is extremely poorly written. You attack others for being "kiddies", but even the worst whiners here appears more mature than you. Sorry.
Applesauce bitch!
((I don't stand either way, but somebody had to do it. ))
" ...and you say this game is dieing .."
erm . . . how do YOU spell "dying"?
. . illiterate idiots . . that's why I don't play WAR!
Whoop-de-do.
I've got 20 of those created characters and I haven't played a single one of them since 2 weeks after release. It is amusing though to see Mark Jacobs and his surrogates flailing around trying to get some kind of sustainable numbers for their shallow excuse for a RPG. How about the classes we didn't have done? More experience for a limited time only! Bonuses for RvR! Yeah, I've got all the emails.
Mythic does not know how to run a MMORPG, period.

I would love to see the number of 'characters' that have been created in WOW. It's gotta be getting close to 500 million.
Do you think the OP didn't realize that chart was for characters created? or do you think he was hoping someone didn't notice. Either way.. major fail.
I was only QQ'ing because my EA stock has lost so much of its value...
Yes, you must be a "bliz kiddie" to think that WAR is a completely mediocre and unfulfilling game.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
I am not really sure what these numbers tell us. I have created a fair chunk of level one characters.. and mostly over the past couple of weeks as I cast around for more interesting things to do than the tier 4 grind.
I dont think they have any bearing on the stregth of the game.
A far more interesting metric would be 'player hours played'... that would give a much more accurate sense of the activity on servers.
mature post, i know how to spell dying and i play war. anyways i dont know why the op is bragging about war but there really is no reason for it and it just starts a war (haha) and people start bashing each other. so pointless but oh well
It's a good thing he posted AFTER Christmas, or he would have gotten a big fat lump of coal.
OP was just cranky and blowing off steam. I think he quick read something without fully understanding what he read. It said "1 million +" and that was good enough for him.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Characters created is just a smoke and mirrors way of making a game look popular, and lots of players experiment with alts to decide on a class in mmos. The only revealing number that means anything is paid subscriptions.
Yup.
A good example is LOTRO. Turbine claimed over a year ago that over 4 mill characters had been made, but didn't reveal anything about active subsribtions. http://www.mmogchart.com estimated that the game peaked at around 200k subscribers...
Doing so well that its dropped off lots of game charts since release and had half its servers close?
Seems to me that DAoC did a fair job at smacking SOE where it hurt, namely EQ, which was huge back in the day. If I am not mistaken DAoC is still going, and has drastically improved since its inception, from which I had played for several years.
Saying Mythic doesn't know how to run a MMORPG is like saying Ford doesn't know how to make a car. They have been doing it forever, and in recent times have come against stiffer competetion, which is good for the consumer. Same goes for the gaming world. Just because Blizzard made a game that was revolutionary to the market place, and others are having a difficult time keeping up does not mean that they are totally inept.
Now, if I were to wax personal about the state of affairs, I would have to say that pretty much everything sucks on the game market now. WoW is geared to level quickly to endgame, and then the constituents bitch about the lack of end game. The sandboxers aren't happy, since the healthy part of the demographic for mmos is mostly adolescent kids who come from consoles and want bright lights and lots of explosions. The sci fi crew has EvE and well, er uhhh EvE. If you aren't into the whole waiting six months of running the same mission over and over again, you have the choice of waiting six months and buying china gold. LoTRO was cool for about two days, then got really old. same missions, bigger enemies. After seeing Rivendell, pretty much everything is rinse and repeat. SWG was cool until they tried to, well, be like every other game on the market. I haven't tried WAR, simply because my gamer friends who are way more hardcore than I am and have no less than six subs each concurrently, all said "Its WoW, with better graphics". When we get to the point that we have an Al Gore "Save the algae" game where we get tree hugging XP, I will compulsively vomit and go back to Sorry! which kept me entertained as a child way before the Atari 2600 came out.
In finality, I submit that not one publisher knows how to run a damn game that isn't geared toward people with epilectic ADD. They all pretty well suck, and I am severely dissapionted with the lack of creativity in the gaming industry as of late. For God's sake, I got more entertainment out of Pitfall! and Centipede than I do out of the latest MMOs.
Oh, and I do know how to spell dieing. But that should be used to "cut a different thread".
Last but not least, here are the obligatory smileys to keep the attention of those who are only stimulated by lots of color.

...I Think I Love You.
Atari 2600 Pitfall FTW!
The good old days.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

Anyone who uses the term "QQ" is a homosexual. Same for "nubcake" and whatever god awful things you people come up with to sound like 14 year old girls text messaging.
Why attack homosexuals? Why not just call it like it is? They're immature and annoying, regardless of their sexual orientation.

OMG...NOW THE GAME MUST BE ENJOYABLE
Always good to see the WAR haters spend so much of their free time with us. Makes me thankful I have better things to do with my time then hang out on forums of games I dont play or like.
Seriously? You wouldn't call the OP a troll for the way he posted that?
