I thought the NDA existed so that people don't steal the core ideas implemented into the game, IE the combat system or housing system involved. But having an NDA when the game is supposedly being released in a month seems to me like they are more or less hiding problems with the game. Dealing with Aventurine is like dealing with the government, they choose there words so carefully with ever update they have. Lift the NDA and let us know if we are wasting our time waiting for this game, or if it will actually be ready. I would be upset to hear this game needs another 6 months or so to be completed, but don't keep people in anticipation, because that is the root for most of the anger that you see on the forums.
LIFT THE NDA and give the people the air Tsaos.

Meh.
Its all over.
See ya'll in a few years
The NDA is just their smokescreen. Its still only about 200+ testers
How they gonna make a lot of preorder money if they lift the NDA? Use your thinker.
NDA is to avoid any negative comments before the issue is fixed. You say ONE negative comment about say...server stability, and it'll trail on for months regardless of what happens to the game.
And before you say "they said the game is finished" that a subjective term that could mean various things. "Finished" to me means the game itself is all implemented, but there are still a few bugs to where it's "good enough" for an MMO release. However, server stability is a different category.
They're using the term NDA as a screen to mask the fact that there is no beta.
This game is a stright up lie.
Oh well
Are you joking?

- Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
Do you really think there even is a beta test?
NDAs get broken.. fast. And no company has the time, resources or motivation to hunt down whats most likely a 16 year old. If a company like Microsoft dosen't pursue the people who leak out their software (Windows 7 before it went public) what makes you think Aventurine is somehow keeping the "testers" quiet.
The chances are that theres about five testers and/or disgruntled employees who have leaked the few amounts of information available.
That's just silly. According to Averturine the game client is very stable and many of the game features are in and ready to use. You really think that server stability would give the game a bad name? More likely is the fact that no information, being shady, and keeping the NDA up for as long as they have is giving them a bad name. Lack of information is alot worse then bad press. ANY news would be good news. Like I said, give us something to go on. People have been loyaly waiting for this game for years, show us some respect and let us know what is going on.
NDA = fear/scare tactics
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
This.
And there's the big pink elephant in the room every fallboi seems to ignore. As with any closed beta of this popularity, we should have already seen several videos of real ingame footage from beta, not these prescripted, overly played, stitched together videos of the same crap goblin MOBS. I mean real beta footage just like we've seen leaked from every other MMO.
And fallbois point to the "terrifying" NDA contract as if that's gonna stop someone from leaking. As you suggested, the likelihood is that there are just a few close-knit group of testers.
No it is them just failing at doing a actual Open Beta. If 1 negative comment would hurt a game that bad then I think WoW would of died about a million times by now. I just think they don't know what a Open Beta or stress test is or just are covering up problems they are having.
I personally think they just are trying to keep attention on their game since they can only delay things for so long.
Exactly.
Heck, even Blizzard's NDA's get broken quickly. There were so many leaks of Wrath of the Lich King's alpha client that fans actually set up a wiki with tons of information (spells, items, talent trees, etc.), pissing Blizz off. Even then, the worst I remember happening was Blizz threatening to ban anyone who linked to that alpha wiki on their forums, and writing a sternly worded letter to the webmaster of that wiki demanding that the alpha info be removed, which happened.
The fact remains, though, that even Blizzard has people routinely breaking their NDA's and spilling the beans. It's beyond strange that there have been so few leaks at all with Darkfall. It's just so out of character for an MMO.
Must I pull out the quote from Tasos where he says that Darkfall, at its current state, is more ready than almost all games that are released?
Are you really this stupid as to defend Aventurine in their lie?
Fact is, the NDA is hiding something, and that is the fact that Darkfall is INCOMPLETE. A beta is likely going on, all my senses say so...But the quality of that said beta...Meh, I think it's close to DnL, from what I've read.

It's honestly like everyone logs onto WoW, and games like WoW, just to masturbate. Everyone plays by themselves, and when they don't, they get what they want and get off.

I believe they tracked their testing pets extensively and found that they're very likely to fervently break the NDA so they can sue to finance their project for another year.
They will be accepting money from pre-orders well before they show off this game.
There will be no try before you buy.

The game is probably crap, but 99% of the current testers are either fanatics and/or devs' family members, so they can't realize a serious video without damaging the game, but they won't criticize it openly because they want to keep deluding themselves (and others).
Answer is quite simple really. This game is either a scam or there is something terribly wrong with it that they dont want getting out (like beta comprising of a houndred players or the game is faaaaar from finished).
Regardless, anyone who doesnt get a bad feeling about this games development is waaaay to gullable for this world.

Are you joking?
... are you? What about nathans post didn't make sense?
What seems odd to me, is that in all my years of gaming and following beta's and such, this is the first game I've come across with little to no leaks whatsoever. Hard to believe, because there is always someone in a beta that's willing to break the NDA to show off the game. Either the testers are glued to their screens having to much fun to bother leaking anything, or there is nothing going on at the moment.
It's easily solved guys. Don't preorder and you will be fine.

And when we got more women on the team, it was like No, no, no. We need puppies and horses in there.

For anyone who does a bit of searching on google... it's blatantly obvious why they still have the NDA up.
It's also obvious why they keep doing server wipes at a feverish pace. Even the "rock solid" server stability seems to be falling apart.
The more people they let into Beta and the farther the testers get into the game... the more obvious just how outlandish that Tasos' statements to the public are. This game is a LONG ways from ready!
I guess at this point it wouldn't even surprise me if we were to see statements like these from hypothetical beta testers. Purely guessing mind you... in a hypothetical way:
Q: Mobs that gain a lot of kills increase in power through their experience.:::
A: Can't verify
Q: Mobs if left unchecked for too long establish their own cities.::::
A: Can't verify
Q: Mob's migrate by changing their spawn location if they are
killed too many times.::
A: Can't verify
or something like...
"I'd probably give it a 6/10 just need more features unlock to see if they work like I said its a little grindy..."
"... couldnt get skill high enough before wipe."
"...all weapons do about the same damage havnt seen a rare weapon or anything but all the gear i wore or found was almost same stats."
"The only thing is the grind is really bad right now and hopfully they fix it a tad bit."
"While the mob density is very low, the game is fun when you find a mob to attack. Other than that I have only ran into one person during testing."
"The NPC's in town are like mummies that just stand there and do nothing, no voice overs just text."
"this is all I have for now as the servers are down and have been for quite some days."
If those were really Beta testers it might give the impression that the game isn't very close to Release at all... certainly not in a bit over a month.
But, as we know those are just my made up quotes of what some Beta testers might be saying about Beta... because we've been told over and over again from everyone "IN THE KNOW" that the game is rock solid and ready to go.
NDAs are really nothing more than sheets of paper that ask user's to not disclose vital information about their game to competitors. Most don't care if you post up some video or screenshots because that is free advertisement. They get mad when players start describing in detail how the game mechanics work.
I think its plain and simple that if devs don't want anything posted at all, then the game isn't ready and they shouldn't have let user's into a beta.
