MMO NDAs are usually broken within 24 hours of a beta phase starting.
Movies will appear on Youtube/Google
Sites will pop up with screenshots, impressions, etc.
Right now there isnt even any beta leak vids on newsgroups. nada. And these are the people who trade in pirated software - no NDA could scare them at all.

Exactly, i said in other post too, NDA is perfect, NO leaks at all, and they cant handle a website.. lets be realists...

There have been several leaks regarding Darkfall. The small number of people allowed in beta has been mentioned in several of them, and that helps to explain the reason there are not more. Also the fact that Aventurine has been claiming to its beta testers (this was part of another of those leaks that you don't think have happened) to have filed a breach of contract lawsuit against a leaker probably puts a chill on things - whether true or not.
This is my post in another thread but I wanted to mention it here as well: If I am not mistaken, if my clan or guild receives a set of invites and the guild leader gives me an invite, I am curious if I could post that I got an invite? I do not have one and I am not even sure if ym guild did apply but I do not understand (legally) how an NDA would cover someone from saying "My GM gave me an invite". Technically, I cannot be under the NDA because I have not downloaded or signed anything and there is no way that Aventurine would know that my guild leader would give me an invite. Again I am just curious and wondering what others think. Personally, I have a high standard of ethics and have upheld every NDA I have ever signed and I wouldn't feel bad about saying I got an invite from my guild leader (if I did). Any thoughts/ideas?
NDAs always allow you to state that you are invited and in the testing, because that in no way is a breach or spilling of vital info (NDAs are there to protect the content and state of said content only)

In the different NDAs I've run into, I've never encountered a game that didn't prohibit you disclosing you were in beta. Whether that's enforcable is questionable, of course.

SOE, Blizzard and MS cant do much about leaks, and I think they are far more capable between bank and $2000/hour lawyers on retainer to scare people into remaining silent. But even they still have leaks.
Aventurine's chance of striking fear into a leaker are about that of Hello Kitty.

That part in RED above is the number one reason.
Secondly, the majority of people in Beta right now are close friends/family of the Devs
The very small amount of people that are left (probably less than 20) are where you are seeing what leaks do come out.
Even the small amount of leaks that are coming out is driving Tasos completely mad! I'm convinced it's the number one reason that they are so far behind schedule as it is. He is completely anal about controlling every single bit of information about this game.
Forget his statement of: "We want the game to speak for itself".
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Tasos and Tasos alone wants to do the talking for DarkFall.
I am firmly convinced that the general public will not be allowed to play DarkFall until Tasos is fired. If he has his way... DarkFall will stay in production forever.
They fear the results of the stress test, if any such thing is really going on. Its a smoking pile and they know it.
I think the same. Not just possible troubles in stress test, also any bug, malfunction, feature not ready. It doesn't matter if it's a minor flaw or a game breaker problem or a empty zone.

So how about an NDA that says it's in effect for 5 years after the game is released then?
Heh, pretty funny. Nope... nothing to hide there at all.
1. Game is not ready, and cannot come close to holding 10K concurrent players on a server.
2. The development team has no clue what they are doing, because this is their first release, and they are scared shitless, so just keep up the NDA and they won't have to deal with the public yet.
I vaguely recall one of the NDA's I've beta'd under prohibited disclosure of anything learned in beta for 3 years after release unless the NDA was lifted (which it was shortly before live IIRC). I want to say it was Vanguard, but it might have been PotBS.

No SOE product has ever had such an NDA.
No game has had such an NDA . It would be even more impossible to enforce than a normal NDA.
The only people that ever agree to such NDAs are Government officials.
Software designers have a form of an NDA that sometimes prohibits them from working at a rival company for X amount of months to prevent disclosure of sensitive information.

Vanguard was created by Sigil and purchased by SOE.

You can tell by the level of representation and support this game has that these guy will make the Vanguard launch look like a polished current version of WoW.

Sadly, I don't think that is too far off. They don't even allow threads on the forum asking about members that are in open beta. Thats just sad.

That site doesn't have any video.
For how close they were/are to release there should be much more than what is available there as well.
