The people who are preordering this game can either somehow see into the future, like to throw money off bridges, or are a close friend of Tasos.

He who keeps his cool best wins.

  • I can't imagine anyone NOT being skeptical of the game at this point.  It's beyond me how anyone could pre-order, but to each their own.

I'm taking the "hope for the best, plan for the worst" approach to DF.

Have fun making boxes on that assembly-line you work on...I really can't imagine you doing much else.

Free insult ftw!!!   It's easy and everyone can do it!

I bet everything is either black or white in your head.

Bit of a low blow if I do say so myself.  Hell, some assembly line workers make more money than some of you could imagine.  Long time GM workers come to mind. . .

Yeah, I worked an assembly-line for a month.  I quit and found a job that paid 3 dollars less, an hour.  The money was good, but it sure wasn't good for my mind.  I can supplement my lack of income in other ways, like starting a computer repair business.  Whatever, all I was saying is that he's mindless and doesn't give a shit.

He doesn't care that he'd likely be wasting 50 bucks...So I assumed he wouldn't care about working a mindless job.  Take it as you want to, it was low...But this kid handing them money is stupid, really stupid.

I have faith the game will be released but I think it's only prudent to wait till it's actually out  and get some feedback before paying for it :)

    So no I won't preorder

Aventurine is going to get lots more money from pre-orders assuming they don't limit them. good job devs finally someone making a game and sticking to their promised features.

I dont know what videos you saw but the ones I saw on youtube the game looks terrible.......

That's cause you need  to wear a pair of those while watching

What a stupid response. If he doesn't really care about $50 it probably means that he has no problems with money, so probably doesn't work on an assembly line.

I made a similar comment a few posts before (that $50 is nothing), but I probably earn more money in a year than you earn in a lifetime.

If you're referring to the video that people posted a couple days ago, it was good, but didn't answer many questions that I want answered before I even buy the game.

    1. Are all the skills implemented?

    2. Can you build a city and siege it at release?

    3. How does the game run at each graphic setting on a machine comparable to mine?

    4. Are there account and billing issues?

    5. Are the servers stable enough for release date numbers?

So the answer is NO, I will not preorder DF, nor will I buy it after release until I see a good number of reviews addressing my questions.

If DF does well, then other companies will see the merit in tackling difficult projects which stand out from the crowd. Maybe then we can get ourselves out of the WoW mindset. If, on the otherhand, DF flops, the big MMO company managers are going to be scared off doing anything imaginative or ambitious.
Hell, I might even preorder. $50 seems a small price to pay.

I guess if you plan to play MMO's all your life, investing in the industry is logical, but why do you think you'll play them long enough to benefit from your investment? Also, wouldn't investing into some stocks and bonds be more beneficial? There are plenty of things to invest into in life that produce more of a benefit than a good game does, but to each their own.

I'm quite glad you two, and so many other people have money they can throw away.  I wouldn't have a job if it weren't true.  Honestly though, I'm quite glad you really could care less about that money.  Go ahead support a company with shady business practices, more power to you.

And really, how's my comment on his senseless post, stupid?  You obviously agree with him that he's wasting his money, and you're likely to do the same.  It's like, "I'm the idiot, for pointing out that you both are perfectly fine with acting like idiots."

As a side note, I doubt you, and ten-thousand other people throwing money at Aventurine's going to shift the current trend in MMOs.  If Darkfall fails, that'll just prove to other companies it's still possible to release shit, and people will still pay for it upfront.  However, I will agree with you though, in that if Darkfall's successful it'll change the trend.  But pre-ordering won't help fuel that.

The only thing that can really help Darkfall now, is Aventurine...And they've done nothing since the 15th of last month, without the beta leaks, we'd only have a poll showing how many beta-testers would purchase the game...

Wow...Just wow...But yeah; go ahead, spend that money.  And while you're doing that...Please remember, I've a wonderful couple of acres in Florida available for a wonderful price.

I have some hope this game will turn out better then I previously thought, but I still won't be preordering.  As they're limiting their "trial", I have a feeling that if they allow open registration, release day will be chaos.  They have a small team, on a small budget, and I don't doubt for a second that there will be many release day bumps.  If they can pull off a successful release and quickly fix the problems that come with releasing a MMO, I will purchase the game.. I'm not going to blindly purchse the game, though.. Sure.. 50$ isn't really that much money, but I'm prudent enough not to throw it away on something I don't know the quality of.

I would only preorder if I got into beta prior to purchase.

On paper DF has the possibilty to be the best game I have ever played, however, the way they have managed it scares the hell out of me, so, I voted no since there was no 3rd option.

Looks like people are voting 3 to 1 against.

No surprise considering the "interesting" past of this game.

    And add a no.

  • I would of rather left it as a pipe dream and vapor ware then witness what I have seen recently. Hopefully it is the game all pvpers have been waiting for, but I think I will give it a few months or atleast till the official US release.

  • RosenthorneRosenthorne Member UncommonPosts: 94

Normally one pre-orders BEFORE the games release date. It is 21 days until that date, and I see no pre-order options on their website.....

It's not only about losing 50$, it's about suporting or not a company like Aventurine and a PR like Tasos. I don't think we should give money to that kind of companies and people, unless they manage to produce a quality game after all, which is very unlikely.

Well its funny... they are suposedly starting PO info on the 15th, ten days before the 'launch'

Most companies start preorders 1 to 2 months in advance to help gauge interest in the game. They also usually stop all preorders about 10 days before the launch (letting companies like Gamestop continue POs till they wish to stop on thier own.)

I am thinking that AV will do a preorder in a way that requires you to make the full purchase at the moment (billed and charged) where most companies do a reserve charge of around $10 and wont bill till the product has actually shipped.

I am also willing to bet that DFO will be sold as a downloadable client cause I have yet to hear anything about printing of CDs etc, which usually happens at least a month ahead of release.

So in all I am thinking its going to be on the 15th people who preorder will have to buy the client right then and there, wait 10 more days and then patch it from a beta client to the retail client.

Though on a side note; Why is the AV company site nothing more than an AV logo (ripped from a vid) 2 links (email and jobs) and a link to Darkfallonline.com? You would think in the last few years the company would have an actual company site...

The game and AV get wierder every day. Some of the decisions they have made recently just seem like complete nonsense. The PKs are acting like carebears complaining constantly of someone manages to cheat them of the reward of full loot. Seriously its your money but theres danger signals all over the place on this game, listen to them.

hmm....2,000,000 people @ $50 US could = scam of the year....

And before you flame me...I was one of the people looking so forward to this game. But if you were looking forward to a huge steak for tea, and the meat at the butcher stank, would you still buy the steak....?

Some things just not looking right.....still hoping to be proved wrong.

WoW. 2 million people gonna order Darkfall Online you think huh?

    Geez.

    {scratches head and ponders a moment..}

Well, yeh, look at how many millions actually voted GW Bush back into office for a 2nd term in the USA back in 2004.

    It COULD happen.

    {shakes head in sadness}
