Thank you for introducing the NGE. Your decision to change SWG has saved me $2,280 dollars over the past 3 years. I had 4 characters and was having so much fun playing SWG that I didn't mind paying for 4 subscriptions or for any expansions that SOE was launching for the game.
You're decision to introduce the NGE has saved me a considerable amount of money over these past few years and I wish to thank you.
I think the rest of you should thank him and let him know just how much money he has personally saved you.

Lol - never thought of it like that however technically he didnt save me any really cos i just moved on to a different game so maybe he even cost me more ....hmmm ill have to think on that one.
Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.
I would want to thank him for the CU, i was addicted to this game before it,staying up late neglecting rl stuff.
But after the CU the addiction to play went away, so thanks John Smedley for driving me away with the CU and breaking my "need" for SWG.
As much as you think Smeds the devil hes only his cousin. And this may be a shock, but LA thats Lucas Arts. Wanted the NGE, you should be thanking Julio Torres and Nacy M. for saving you some $. Im sure they'll be saving you some more over at Bio-ware in a couple years.
Please don't try to steal the accolades away from John Smedley; he is the single most deserving person we should thank for saving us money.
Once again, thanks Mr. Smedley, your tireless efforts to save me money have not gone unappreciated.

I want to thank George Lucas for creating a shallow universe and 6 horrible movies. If not for that I may have given Star Wars Galaxy a shot and played the boring grind you guys call a game. Thank you Lucas!
It took me 4 years to see the light, just cancellled my 3 accounts, deleted 7 toons along with 4.5 Billion (yes, with a creds and enough loot to make 20 people happy. Thanks (not) to whoever came up with that NGE crap.!!
Thank you John! You have saved me a total of $1140 over the last 3 years! Thank you for looking out for my best interests!
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic

Lol you just made my day. With the money I saved on SWG, I bought a massive new guitar amp! Woohoo. That's actually amazing ^_^.
You can tell who just wants to defend Smed and SOE for the sake of it too lol, trying to somehow deflect the thread by criticizing George Lucas. Lamesauce. Also trying to blame Lucasarts when the two lead devs for the NGE and the community relations guy at SOE said the NGE was all their baby. And yeah I've got the quotes, but I posted them like 3 years ago. Anyone who doesn't believe me is going to have to do their own research this time :P.

They only do that because their viral marketing script tells them to.
Mr.Smedley, thank you for saving my marriage, the subscription costs that you have saved me over the past 3 years pales in comparison to the potential costs of a divorce.
I would also like to salute LA for permitting "Smedley Online Entertainment" to butcher and botch a game WORLD based upon what is perhaps the largest, most successful cultural icon of the western world in the 20th century.
SWG was designed by fans(my generation) for fans(my generation). In your greed and hubris you thought it would be a "win" to pander to the perceived desires of a generation that was not even BORN yet, when my generation was making the franchise $$ BILLIONS $$.
I suppose the writing(GREED) was on the wall however, after all it did take me 2 months worth of my allowance to obtain enough Kenner proofs of purchase to send away for my Boba Fett.
Unlike SWG however,I still have Boba Fett.
All I can say is our friend Smed isn't the owner of the "lifetime achievement award" for "most hated individual in the MMORPG industry" for no reason.
ROFL
Hated he is.
70 people my guild gone so I guess thats what ? 159,600 $ over 3 years not counting people that had 2 or 3 accounts.
A big thank you john.
I saved $1600.
Thanks John!

I have to say that this is one of the best threads I've ever read in my life lol. Reading it makes me happy inside. Thanks OP!
Thankfully I didn't play SWG, but I did beta test the game and I saw enough to make me not bother wasting my time in this game, so my decision not to play has saved me having to worry that someone may have caused so much disappointment and ruined what many have said they did.
I understand why so many are annoyed but I really think it is time to move on and those who have agreed they were addicted to the game may still be but are still in denial. Sadly I am not able to help you as you will have to help your selves and good luck with that.
As for the game which Bioware is currently developing I can not comment weather or not this will turn out to be a good or bad game and there for until I get to see it I will reserve my comments but I hope they do manage to make this game rock as it may give some people a new home and feed their SWG need to some extent. But having seen SWG I would be hard pushed to invest in this game tbh, but hey who knows.

I don't know. The game was absolutely brilliant the first few weeks, when there was no sign of composite clones, and buffs that turned you into uberduberman. When everyone arrived fresh, it felt truly like Star Wars. Because people looked different outside of the composite army. And the battles was great too, no running around like the Hulk on the worst of days.
Sadly this fresh beginning soon gave way to the true nature of the beast, that the whole thing was skinned like Star Wars, but tilted towards heavily buff dependent gameplay, and odd armors turning everyone into exactly the same. I don't know where this armor came from, but it did not look much like anything amassing in the OT.
It was a game about cloned warriors on stereoids, until it became a game with hordes of Jedi. at that point the OT was largely abandoned as a frame of reference I guess. Despite some props here and there trying to fool you.
Movie equipment had rotten stats, and was more like display pieces, instead of making you look and PLAY the part. What? Characters in a game based on Star Wars looking like Rebels or Stormtroopers? Not this game. When confronted on the forums, devs actually confirmed that genuine Star Wars movie props was collector's items. Not meant to be played normally in the game.
If you put on an imperial officer uniform with no hat, you better be dining with a Chef all day. And still you probably would be shot to pieces, after getting all the required drugs.
Characters stood in line to get drugged before battle, and was followed by a master Chef all day. It was like being pulled right into the movies. Drug movies.
I now see people sitting in bunkers and houses, all turned into a Star Wars museum. Movie items are displayed like holy artifacts. A rather stuffy approach to something that supposedly should have been an interactive Star Wars world. Interactive museum, maybe?
SWG was flawed from the start in my humble opinion. But the NGE did not help, the initial skill based system was better, by itself. Too bad, without buffs, Jedi, and the funny armors, it kinda looked like Star Wars the OT. Apart from the emerging total lack of ability to stick to the source.
Guess they regretted the OT approach. Ancient history, for the kiddies of today.
I don't think Smedley made things worse. Nor did he make things better. But he continue to help me save the dosh, for sure. So let me join you in this show of genuine appreciation for the continuation of all that which made SWG far from the cash cow it should be, in view of the IP.

With a name like "Smedley" how could you go wrong? Thanks Johnny you are brilliant bussiness man who should be running his own reality tv show like Donald Trump! Hail to you old great one!

I had two accounts and I spent a huge chunk of time playing SWG. So he definitely saved me time and money.
And switched to Geiko too.
All it took was belief in a higher power. However unlike most of you total addicts (and 2 brothers of mine in real life), it didn't take me 12 steps to cancel my subscription, took me one step.
wow. i hope i never play a game that 3-4 years later, i continue to whine and cry and boo-hoo about.
