When did insulting people on a forum about games become the "adult" thing to do?

i didnt insult anyone. no one was called out. i merely stated that i hope i dont pine about a game years after i leave it. i played the game. twice. and both times i left without crying. yes, its a shame what has happened to this game. but im happy to say i have experienced it and i have moved on.

Don't understand why the SOE apologists continue to try and rewrite history.  You DO realize that as the owners of the IP the extent of their relationship was the signing off on content as to whether or not it was canonical or not, right?  I am sure that Lucas Arts was somewhat agitated that they entered into a business partnership with a company that ostensibly had the skillsets and the expertise with which a "sure thing" could be developed and delivered but wasn't.  Development was and, if what they have going on over there can be considered development, still is being done in house with SOE developers not Lucas Arts.  It is nice to know, however, that the paid SOE shills still poke their heads in here in an attempt to protect their spooning pal Smedley.

You're decision to introduce the NGE has saved me a considerable amount of money over these past few years and I wish to thank you.

Big thank from me too Mr. Smedley for saving asbout 2200 dollars during the past 3 years excluding the 800 dollars I got for selling my character on e-bay, 8 weeks after the NGE went live :-)

I didn't find any other game that attracted me like pre-cu Star Wars Galaxies, so I quit playing video games and stuck with real life ever since.

    Thank you John Smedley.

I don't know if Smed is responsable for it or whoever in SOE is, but I'm seeing a trend among SOE games lately- they all have the similar WoW UI, the circular picture with 2 bars at the top left with the enemy target to its right and group bars below it and the circle radar at the far right with the quest logger also there. Have a look around with some screenshots of NGE, Vanguard, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Everquest 2 and now DC Universe. I saw the latest videos of DCU and I was shocked to how closely the game's UI resembles WoW.

No need to reinvent the wheel, the WoW UI is actually pretty good so why not base other UIs off of it?

Which is fine evidence to add  to the idea that LEC had very little to do with the NGE, and their biggest failure was believing SOE's lies.

LEC was mostly trying to market the debacle -- putting lipstick on a pig. Nancy didn't do so well with that, but she did as well as she could -- it is hard to market garbage based upon lies. She obviously had little to do with the actual decision to go with the NGE.

Ward, however, who was the man who had more to do with the actual decision of the NGE, was eventually thrown out on his ass. Sounds pretty reasonable to me, given what went down.

Now in terms of her compensation at leapfrog, maybe she's doing a good job there. I don't know. I don't believe in jumping to conclusions and would never damn someone for one stupid statement said in the context of a firestorm of bad publicity.

Just trying to think outside the box here and look at what it all might mean, instead of just killing the messenger. I say this as someone who was highly critical of nancy's statement when it appeared in the NYT article.

I'd say Ward and Smed were the main players regarding the unwanted revamps in SWG, and the misinforming of players.  Nancy will never be forgotten for comments that SWG players shouldn't have to read so much, but at least I think now she's helping people learn to read lol.  Maybe there's a redemption story there somewhere.

P.S. two good things about the new StarWars MMO: Ward is out on his can, and Smed is out of the loop.  At least it has a chance :).  Another good thing is bioware, a fourth is the pre-cu devs there.  The only thing that concerns me is the conflicting information about item shops that EA seemed to float.

I just hope they see this as an opportunity to provide an excellent entertainment service, and earn decent cash as a result; not as another doomed "how can I make a fast buck by milking MMO players" project.  Those inevitably suck, and therefore fail--deservedly.

Nancy McIntyre has said some of the funniest thing I've seen coming from a dev, the "too much reading" was the best one. She thinks everything should be made simple for pre-school and kindergardeners. She was the one that wanted the 32 professions cut down to 9 classes and be an "iconic" hero from the movies so people wouldn't have to go through customizing their own character.

She was a marketing exec at LA. Not a developer. SOE developed the NGE.

I still find it amusing to see people still pretend that she said there was to much reading, now okay she did say that, but have you guy's really forgotten all the topics concurning players who felt that they needed to read far to much, often not meant as ingame reading but often meant in way's that people needed to search for info on the internet, all she did was saying what WE ALL already saw and read on the official forums made by people/players who felt there was to much reading with SWG.

And sorry I have nothing t thank JS for. I didn't put the money I might have spend on SWG if the NGE never happend on a savings account, most likely I spend it just aswell towards other things, besides that who knows how long I would have sticked with the game, I can definitly not know for sure if I still would be paying the game if the NGE had never happend. I could speculate, but I doubt I would have remained till today with the game if nothing was changed and only was fixed and polished.

TO MAKE IT CLEAR I AM NOT BLAMING THE ACTUAL PLAYER, but am blaming those who where so loud shortly after release and the months afters who mostly whined on the forums about how bad/hard/difficult/tomuchreading/jedi/notStarWarsy etc etc the game was. As most constructive topics often got locked because the whiners didn't want the devs to listen to actual players as often those whiners wanted us to go play games like The Sims or Second Life as those whiners didn't understand GAMERS.
