If you find that beta is "closed," check back again later, they keep making more room.
I'm playing it, and having a BALL for the first time really in ages! Crazy huh? I stumbled on this last night, and don't think I'll be putting it down for a good long while. This is sandbox of the past, made relevant to the present, and lots of FUN.
If you're an ex UO player or just a lover of a good...very good...sandbox games....you might really like this!
Did it show up as green when you clicked new player on the main page? I have been checking since he posted this thread and its always said closed.

Wow. You know....I never noticed. I really hope that more and more people can keep getting in. I'll try to find out more for ya.
Amazing,a sandbox game comes along, yet we have rants about how bad the graphics are..no doubt from the same trolls who would otherwise claim graphics dont matter. Im sure Darkfall will be the greatest thing ever yadda yadda, have a great time playing a p2p version of Age of chivalry.
This game certainly sounds great, plus I like the diablo style graphics and isometric viewpoint. I was a big fan of Mythos for similar reasons, although it used a class base it still allowed a lot of freedom in customisation which this game looks to have taken a step further. Looking forward to building my own plot of land.
i was considering playing this the other night but i resubbed to WAR with some of my IRL friends but it defo looked like a brilliant game so i might have to sign up and see if it would be worth subbing to when it comes out of beta because ive been looking for a game like this to play on the side and i especially like the isometric view, i think it is better than 3D in certain games and it defo works in this. I also like how much player developed content they are allowing.
quick question, is there player housing? And how big is the world? I cant find a pic of the game world or any real info from the website.
I'm pretty sure that the world essentially just grows with the playerbase, as the idea is that all the players contribute their own little piece to the actual play map. I visited one of the longer term testers house and saw he had bosses spawned in his house, as well as things like working slot machines, a bank, vendors (all of which he makes a 10% premium off of sales from). He also had it set up like a maze with teleporters that sent you randomly around as well, it was pretty amazing.
i posted a link to a temperary map they put together a few weeks back earlier in the thread
Guys, this might be it! The ultimate sandbox, making your own realms, it is skill-based with no levels. And to top it off the animations are briliant! I just want to get into the beta!

Seems interesting but on the site it said beta was closed at the moment.
The next sandbox MMO that im looking at is Mortal Online it seems as though its going to be more interesting than Darkfall with the whole making a god/cult thing and the UT3 graphics engine.

Unlike those games (with exception to DF) people are actually playing linkrealms and having fun. So not sure what you're talking bout here. It's nowhere near vaporware I've been playing it for quite awhile.

since people are spilling the beans guess I will too.
Its much better then the player housing. You get your own realm and it is non-instanced. You can grow plants, make a palace, make a bank, make an Arena, etc
I was growing a lot of plants etc to make potions. a friend of mine he had a grand house and monsters in it. It was a full blown dungeon
Another friend of mine had a casino
Whats even cooler its classless and no levels in the traditional sense. so all the time vets and noobs go into dungeons together. We used to hit this one hard dungeon in the open zone. I was trying to get this one potion drop....

It opens up every day. Try after 6pm central time.
The GMs are very helpful and it's fun feels very differen't playing a 'sandbox' game again leveling skills rather than levels. I do like the feature of the crop gardens and having to crush fruit into fruit juice for health pots, lol.
I will check it out ... but player created content is a huge red flag. That probably signals that they don't have resouces to create good professional content and have to rely on amateurs. 99% of player created content is crap.
Ever hear of mods? Mobs are the reseaon I play Oblivion.
You would surprised. I'm sure word will get out, about what realms kick butt and which one don't. People will be competing to make the best realms. That is probably what I will spend all my time doing.
Of course. I have tried mods on several games including neverwinter's night, dungeon siege ....
Like i said before, 99% of player created content is crap. Most mods are not worth the d/l time. I would rather pay money to get good content, which is plentiful in the marketplace.

Anyway, its true full blown player housing
Mortal Online: First Person MMO = Fail
I'm sure it won't work for Diablo 3 either, that game won't sell at all.
I'll take great game over graphics any day; skill based, no classes, player created realms, I wouldn't care if it was text based, sign me up.
I'd rather play text based. I could imagine better graphics.
I think of graphics of a tool for the imagination.
Still without good gameplay graphics are worthless as so many movies with cool looks and no story show.

So at fire I though this game was a bit too old school, but I gave it some time and now I'm having fun. I could see this getting very addictive.
Account creation is now open, if anyone wanted to try this out.
Nope. Still says closed.

they just mentioned how they opneded it for 3 minutes then 7 people showed up.
They should have made it 8
They should have made it 8
Or they should open it back up for 3 more minutes and let 7 more in
